Why does the server lag extremely heavily at the lowest number of players online? Usually at around 1-2am and 3-4am (Server Time, EST) the server starts having lag that i wouldn't even expect from an indie developer, let alone on artix servers.
Is the server undergoing maintenance at this time? If so, perhaps you should put out an announcement in game so that players are aware that the massive lag is likely to lose them a few battles.

Well from what I remember sometime last weekend the AE servers were acting up. Though they said they fixed them it could still be a bug within the server causing it cause there shouldn't be any lag when there are so few people on.

It must not be fixed because it happens at the same times every day and it's ALWAYS when there's close to nobody online.
Sometimes i'll even get disconnected, while being online on another game at the same time and not getting disocnnected or lagged in that game or anything else i'm doing online.

EDIT: Server is lagging MASSIVELY right now, it's 5:55am and there are 340 people on.

 AE's servers have been unstable for past 2 weeks or so. Remember roughly a bit over a week ago, when ED kicked everyone twice or thrice, and AQW servers were playing up? All other AE Games were the same. There were still reports of lag across the games too. Only the people at the Lab can fix it with their ISP - since that's the reason things were acting up.

if you really want lag do not download the new flash drive it will crash

Again, it's around 4am now and the server is lagging massively. And again, almost nobody is online.

meh ED lags for me all the time, no idea why though seeing I play games like Skyrim with no lag at all on my Pc...

Skyrim is not an online game. It cannot lag, it can have a low framerate.

 There are two kinds of lag.

1) Server lag. This is not really lag as much as it is a not strong enough connection or server to uphold the strain put on it for being used by all the players.

2)Graphical lag. This is lag where your computer is unable to the the strain put on it be it through the massive amount of players shown at the same time. (this can put more strain on both your internet connection and the graphical card then you can imagine.)

If you always have lag due to some players being very nonreactive, it is possible they have lag, causing you to have lag as well. It is a side effect of being connected.
No matter how strong your computer is, if one of the players has a bad connection or just isn't strong enough, everyone in it suffers for it.

Since this has on real discussion regarding ED but rather being a discussion of what lag is or where it comes from, I'm locking it. ~Therril Oreb
