How do I Delete my forum account??

I really want to delete my forum account and apparently I can't. WHAT? (I find that very annoying and unjustified)

 Forum accounts are not deleted. If you want we can ban it for you until such time as you maybe decide to return to the forums.

though you can request your account to be banned
