Introduction
{DL1}

DragonLord, the icon of DF. Yes, this is the class that you get when you purchase a Dragon Amulet. It is a very good class in terms of its defense, but it lacks, on the other hand, in offense. It was updated at one point in June 2012 for DragonFable's birthday, and will now be improved in offense. To fully train the class, you need to complete Mad Skillz 14 times, and be at least level 21.

Skills
{DL2}

Dragon Soul

MP Cost: 15
Level unlocked: 14
Cooldown: 1 turn
Effect: If HP below 20%, 7 hits of 35% damage with +20 Crit; uses full damage from STR/INT/DEX.

Ah, if only DL wasn't so defensive. This skill would be really awesome if you could use it from the start, but it has to be below 20% HP. And DL is such a tank, that your HP should never be so low. Use this if you can, really, but you will barely ever be able to.

DragonEye

MP Cost: 35
Level unlocked: 13
Cooldown: 15 turns
Effect: 1 hit of 150% damage, +100 Bonus, +100 Crit

The certain Crit is really good. If Bonus was worth anything, this would be even more awesome. Trouble is, it isn't. You would only miss 1% of the time without this skill. At higher levels, though, you usually crit anyway. So this is better for low levels.

Water Dragon Spirit

MP Cost: 0
Level unlocked: 12
Cooldown: 10 turns
Effect: Restores 30% of mana

This makes DL the tank class that it is. It can heal and mana restore in such a way that it will theoretically barely ever lose. Use this if you need the extra dollop of mana, especially in longer quests like the Neverglades.

Shield Bash

MP Cost: 25
Level unlocked: 11
Cooldown: 13 turns
Effect: 1 hit of 120% damage, stun for 3 turns

Not much you can say about this. It's your average stun skill. It does the job though, so who's complaining?

Wind Dragon Spirit

MP Cost: 35
Level unlocked: 10
Cooldown: 12 turns
Effect: 15% Heal, then 10% for 2 turns, 35% heal total

This is an epic skill. A must whenever you have lowish HP. A great trick to use is to farm for a bit until you have low HP, don't heal, use Soul, then use this to heal up.

Earth Dragon Spirit

MP Cost: 30
Level unlocked: 9
Cooldown: 12 turns
Effect: 80% damage negated for 2 turns, then 50% for 2 turns

This is the skill that probably earned DL its reputation as a defensive class. It basically negates a significant proportion of all damage you would take, and you can nearly always have this or Darkness Dragon Spirit active. If there was a skill for boss fights screaming "USE ME!" this is it.

Darkness Dragon Spirit

MP Cost: 30
Level unlocked: 8
Cooldown: 8 turns
Effect: +140 Melee/Pierce/Magic defense for 3 turns.

Scratch what I said about Align being the skill that screams "USE ME" in boss fights. This is the ULTIMATE DF defence skill. It makes you completely unhittable. Use this at the start of any boss battle. It negates the need for a stun.

Dragon Bite

MP Cost: 0
Level unlocked: 15
Cooldown: 2 turns
Effect: 2 hits of 70% damage for 140% total.

Now then. This skill is not the greatest, since 140% damage is not a great deal more than what the normal attack can deal. On the plus side, at least this is spammable without an MP cost or a large cooldown. It also unlocks Rush, which is better.

Rush

MP Cost: 0
Level unlocked: 16
Cooldown: 0 turns
Effect: After Bite used, 3 hits of 60% damage, for a total of 180%

This isn't a bad skill at the lower levels. Again, this is spammable, but the fact that Bite will barely ever finish off an enemy, Rush requires Bite to be used first, DragonEye is not usually enough to kill an enemy, and Heart requires a DoT on the enemy just highlights the lack of a 1 hit KO skill that nearly all other classes have.

Energy Dragon Spirit

MP Cost: 20
Level unlocked: 17
Cooldown: 2 turns
Effect: 1 hit of 155% Energy damage to all enemies

This is an OKish skill for tackling multi mobs. However, the fact that it only ever does Energy damage weakens it, as you obviously can't use it against Energy resistant enemies (of which there aren't many). 155% is pretty decent damage, though.

Light Dragon Spirit

MP Cost: 26
Level unlocked: 18
Cooldown: 7 turns
Effect: 1 hit of 130% damage, -55% Bonus to enemy for 3 turns

Use this as an opener in tougher battles. That blind is powerful enough to mean that the enemy misses more often than not, and this skill also unlocks DragonHeart, which is DL's ultimate finisher move. This adds yet more to the tanky nature of DL.

Ice Dragon Spirit

MP Cost: 30
Level unlocked: 19
Cooldown: 8 turns
Effect: 1 hit of 125% Ice damage, -55 Boost and -50 Immobility to enemy for 3 turns

This is perfect against hard hitting enemies, really. For obvious reasons, it is worth considering using this in combination with Shield Bash against any enemy who has immobility resistance.

Fire Dragon Spirit

MP Cost: 25
Level unlocked: 20
Cooldown: 7 turns
Effect: 1 hit of 130% Fire damage, 32% Fire DoT on enemy for 5 turns

A good move to use if your defences are active and you know that the fight will take a long time. Although 32% doesn't seem much, it adds up to 290% damage in total, which is very useful.

Dragon Heart

MP Cost: 30
Level unlocked: 21
Cooldown: 4 turns
Effect: 4 hits of 100% damage

Heart is the finisher skill for DL. I haven't seen many non-bosses that can survive it. Use this for monsters with over 500 HP or so. It's wasted on enemies with below that amount. It needs to have a Dragon Spirit on the enemy to unlock, though, so isn't a good one for the average mob.

Pros and Cons
{DL3}

Pros:

1. Can take nil damage for pretty much a whole battle
2. Heart is really good at taking down tough monsters
3. Superb healing, mana regen.
4. Earth Dragon Spirit is a good long term move
5. Eye is excellent at low levels
6. Soul is really good for any enemy

Cons:

1. Lacks a 1 hit KO skill at higher levels
2. Soul needs really low HP
3. Eye's Bonus is useless
4. The defence will not be used too much

Appearance
{DL6}

DragonLord's appearance (Male)
DragonLord's appearance (female)

DragonLord can also be upgraded, costing 20,000 Gold each time to Color Custom, Evolved, and Evolved Color Custom. These are purely aesthetic improvements.

Color Custom versions are the same, with merely the ability to change color of armor added. However, Evolved is different.

Ghost's Male Evolved DragonLord Preview.
There is no image for the female EDL yet.

Items that look good with DL are:

Helm: Fierce DragonLord Helm, Mirrored DragonLord Helm
Cape: DragonLord's Wings

Stats on these items do not matter, since DragonLords have access to the Show/Hide feature. Personally, I hide all accessories.

I'm just being curious: On the Balanced Stat build you made where you said Strength/Dexterity/Intellect, is that a "fill these three up" or "pick one that suits your base class that you started with"?

@Edge master - Put all 200 points into the one that fits your base class :)

Helpful!

@Pelly2500 since each offensive stat has its own effect, I'd actually suggest going for STR over anything else. Unless y'all poor. Then go for whichever stat you have I guess :P
INT's crit damage boost is cool and stuff but it's just not as good as STR's base damage boost. DEX is just kinda bad though, don't go for that unless you're a broke rogue (for DL)

@Hopeful You should include stat builds depending on the artifact you're using imo. DL itself is kinda stally, so PDL/normal DL could go for a max end build + one offensive stat. RDL could go for 2 maxed out offensive stats, with one of them being STR

That's just not true; Str is not noticeably superior to Int or Luk as a damage stat. Int is perhaps the least attractive since its added Bonus is largely useless, but they're all relatively equal in terms of offense and Luk's MPM is just as attractive as Str's immobility resistance, it's just down to preference. Dex is indeed behind for DL though, only being comparable on DoT-heavy classes.

I'd like to note that this guide was last edited in 2016, which was way before the stat update from Verly.

An addition to the above replies: INT no longer increases bonus; It now increases critical damage multiplier. ( Source)
