It's been hammered into us that rares are not coming back, and yet rares are coming back in multiple ways.

The new Spectral Blaster and Ghoul Cannon are a good example of the weirdness that happens, being superior to the original versions. This is just a really wacky decision and I'm not sure how something like this gets approved, but it feels incredibly strange that the old auxes were not updated to have the core. If you don't want to retroactively change items for consistency, then don't recycle their name, theme, and art style. Thing is, they're different enough in terms of actual assets and asset creation that it seems like there is very little reason to not create a new item from the same number of new assets.

Unless of course metrics have shown that such a substantial amount of people that bought the new package also have the old ones that it would significantly impact varium sales. At which point, again, create a new weapon (since you made new assets anyway...), or at the very least give it a different name than slapping "2018" on the end, considering it's a fundamentally different weapon in terms of actual gameplay.

Actually they been doing this for years now.

Remember the ebil crop husk Snork used to drop in delta before it was removed when the omega update went live? Well it came back in the form of a gold item in the musk arcade. (no one said anything about this one)

Then there was the bringing back of the old rare robots Bio borg, Pyro fly, and Azreal borg which were originally supposed to be gone from the game forever (two of said items literally had design stating they were leaving the game for good) Yet a few years back they came back with the excuse of "They are to tactical to stay permanent rare (Which of course has some people myself included making a stink about.) but what made this worse was because of this change each of these robot's rarity was actually reduced due to the change of them being rare (by the old system) to limited rare by the new.

Then there was the cream of the crop the accidental releasing of the "Eggzooka aux" which once again cause an even bigger stink in the forums and quite a few players who originally brought the aux screaming for compensation due to this happening (which never happened)

My point being is that even with these carbon copies of old rares coming back but with a different name they have already been doing this for years and what they are doing now has been planned for years.

In one of the old design notes they mentioned they were going to do this but for the arcade at first so what they truly did was took it a step further in the forum of promo's.

There were too few old timers still around to be outraged when they re-released the exact copies of Stun Guns with a 2018 tag slapped on them, so now they'll probably just keep re-releasing new versions of old favourites.

But, I do have to give NW some credit, stun guns were just a straight up copy with a 2018 tag, with ghoul auxes he listened and at least re-designed them, with next re-released rare he might even give it a new name instead of the 2018 tag.

I try not to get too bothered about the rares anymore, too much unnecessary stress.

It seems like they've chosen literally the worst option in every situation of rereleasing rares.

The bio borg, pyro fly and azrael borg are effects that were required to come back if the game ever wants any hope of bringing in any amount of new or returning players, but considering the last person on the team is an artist, those cores should have been reintroduced on completely new bots with different names for the core.

I wouldn't care about spectral and ghoul blasters returning if they also changed the OG versions to have the cores.
They didn't though, so they are fundamentally different weapons and should not share the same name.
