How Do I War?

Step 0: Register an Account

This should be obvious, but you cannot participate in this war if you do not have an EpicDuel character!

Step 1: Choose an Alignment

If you are not already in a Faction, then you will be prompted to select an alignment. Choose carefully, because although alignment change will be offered later, it will come at a price.

Step 2: Open the World Map

Once you are in Delta V, war is all around you, and getting to the conflict zones has never been easier. Use the interface button on the lower part of your screen to open the redesigned World Map.

This map shows the various regions of Delta V (i.e. Fortune City, Barrens Outpost, Biodome, etc...) and the Alignment in control of each region. Click a region to zoom in and see the individual War Objectives.

Most regions feature War Objectives that can be captured by your alignment. A rollover shows the War Point value of each War Objective. If your alignment captures enough War Objectives to have the Point majority in a region, your alignment will control that region. It is not necessary to control all the War Objectives in a region to get War Points. Even if you only control one War Objective, you will still earn Points toward the daily War Point total. Different War Objectives can be worth different amounts of Points.

If you zoom out, you can see the daily War Score. Each War Objective earns the controlling alignment War Point every 15 minutes. The score resets at the end of the day.

Step 2: How to War

Once you have determined where you want to fight, controlling a War Objective is fairly simple. While zoomed into a region, you can click on any War Objective to jump directly to it.

While you're on the screen with the War Objective, you will notice a bar at the top of the screen with a banner displaying the controlling alignment and leading Faction.

You can see that on this screen the Legion controls this War Objective. A Legion player can fight to defend this Objective and reinforce the position while an Exile player can fight from this screen attempt to take it for his or her alignment. Let's try to take it for the Exiles.

Automatch 1v1 or 2v2 victories earn Influence which allows you to control or reinforce a War Objective. Support for Juggernaut battles is coming soon. Challenge matches do not earn Influence. You can only earn Influence if you battle from a screen that contains a War Objective.

At the end of battle screen you will see how much Influence you earned. 1v1 battles earn 5 Influence while 2v2 battles earn 15. Influence is a versatile number that goes into a number of different places.
    Personal Influence

Your personal Influence, viewable from your Character Stats page, is earned through victories on War Objectives. It is not capped or taxed.

    Faction Influence

Faction Influence is earned through battles by all of a Faction's members. It is not capped or taxed.

    Banner Influence

If you belong to a Faction, your Influence accumulates on a War Objective. The Faction with the most Influence accumulated on a War Objective will have its banner displayed over it. All Influence on a War Objective is taxed so inactive Factions can be passed by more active Factions. Banner Influence is not capped.

    Control

Control is a number that is driven by Influence earned in victories for a War Objective. This number is capped to prevent one Alignment from building an insurmountable lead. Once an Alignment has earned a certain amount of Influence on an Objective, it is considered to be captured and goes into cooldown.

During cooldown, no Alignment can earn Influence while battling for this War Objective. Once the cooldown period is over, the controlling Alignment can reinforce its position and the attacking Alignment can battle to seize control, putting the Objective into cooldown again. This is to encourage players to move to different regions and keep the war from bogging down in one region.

Step 3: Victory

As we have seen in the past, the Alignments truly succeed in Wars through active recruitment and organization. Although it's not necessary to join a Faction to participate, Factions have the tools and organization to rally forces to take down heavily fortified War Objectives.

We are currently adding more clarification and balance elements streamline the War and minimize ambiguity. Stay tuned for another DN post with more update details!

Hmph. Reading this design notes is helpful, but now it really makes me want to see EpicDuel with an actual interactive tutorial in-game.

I also want to mention that the war system coming today is a major change to the overall gameplay experience of EpicDuel, not just a temporary event for the next month or so. We will change the dynamics periodically and add features to keep the war fresh, but the system itself is going to be part of the core gameplay. We don't want to keep ANYONE from the clash!

Yes, this new system is a permanent replacement, as previously mention by the devs.

These fancy tutorial-esque design notes should be placed in-game where everyone can see it.

Question guys

Does the number of flag points conquered matter or is it just overall points?

Edit: Cause it seems like Legion is Rick Rolling all over us....

One thing the war lacks, Incentive.

If they made rewards (eg. Credit rewards would be obvious) for each contributing player for the alignment that captures a point based on the contribution made then maybe people will see it us actually something to do since as one would expect they are not ever gonna completely end the war legion or exile are never gonna truly win because the war outcomes is based on all the players perspective at not the individual. Therefore Incentive to fight for an alignment with not a true victory is pointless.

Yes it may change the storyline, but firstly anyone actually know what this so called storyline is apart from legion versus exile?
And secondly they will never make the storyline to completely destroy an alignment so it's practically an impossible to win war.

Yup, hope there are rewards coming. By saying rewards I hope they are not sky high priced goods. Credits or influence reward would be nice

^ Agreed Credits would be the only obvious way to avoid the majority of unhappy players.

If they offered something like exclusive weapons etc. then we would have ranting players saying how their alignment is no allowing them to get weapons.

And then of coarse we have the problem if limited rares which seem to be exclusively American timed based and hence excluding the other side of the world.

And on top of all that their is a 90% chance that it will be overpriced and Under balanced. (Statistic based off ED's history new exclusive weapons.)

@above in omega every weapon is the same except for looks, players are not gonna lose or get a big disadvantage if they don't get that weapon.

and there would be missions with rewards, so that you do not need to worry about.

Has it been specifically mentioned that the token-to-credit conversion will happen with this week's update? I'm asking this because Nightwraith only said in last week's DNs that this conversion "will not be this week (ie. last week's update)." Any official word?

@ Trizz, I'm meaning the exclusive cores on weapons.

The way I see it not much has changed in omega, Yes the stats are the same but the Outrageously unbalanced weapon cores associated with the exclusive items means players are still practically limited to the newer exclusive items. Which makes seance to me because the Devs left themselves with no way of making income in omega with the addition of credit prices on all varium weapons.....

I can understand and support the need to balance weapons stats but why remove the exclusive cosmetic side from varium items.

IMO They should return the varium price to all once varium weapons AS in the good looking weapons and allow the good looking items to be varium exclusive.

As a result they can stop this terrible weapon power creep on every new weapon with crazy exclusive cores, in what would seem to be an attempt to make money. (But harming the games balance and therefore the game in the long run)

lol exclusive cores XD since when in omega did they release exclusive weapon cores ingame(the spreadfire on the botanical boomsticks doesn't count)? apart from promo weapons that's currently being sold ingame but definitely not from war rewards, the devs are probably gonna release cool looking weapons that has no cores on them, but i prefer it that way.

plus not many would get promo packs if there are no incentives(good and very useful cores), take the botanical promo for example, i don't even see many people with the promo.

however i do support the idea of making items with good art varium exclusive.

^ I suppose your right new war weapons would be balanced providing of coarse they don't implement a new way of making things unbalanced at an exclusive cost of coarse.

And lets face it something like that isn't that unlikely to occur given the current need for power creep.

They should really announce the adding of varium only prices to all good looking weapons and allow anyone who got the good looking weapons for credits can consider it a new phase gift.

Otherwise when you think about it how are they gonna make money without constantly unbalancing the game with overpowered promos?

their financial issue is not our kind of matters to discuss, just leave it to themselves.

also there are no power creep whatsoever after the azrael promo, the azrael's will core was an example of a creative idea gone wrong.
name one overpowered promo apart from the azrael promo, because it seems like you feel every promo that has been released lately is overpowered.

^ Your right we should not discuss them but they do however relate to balance.

The legion/exile strike is another overpowered core when you compare it to the standard ones.

As for the azreal cores a creative idea gone wrong, inexcusable when you consider the constant warnings of how extremely overpowered they would be before they were in game particular many warnings from me.

Please dont feel that my comments are ever an attack on the devs, I am merely trying to improve the game and the game only. (From my perspective) If per chance I criticize their work it is because I won't them to succeed and when I see their ideas constantly failing ( At least IMO) I feel I need to help and am doing so with constructive criticism.

Defending the devs is a very worthy cause but if the same time you are not happy with their current work it is counterproductive. Harsh but, I want this game to work so Harsh I will seem.

@Trizz.There are different cores for different builds, a core isnt necessarely better than another one, it helps you in different situation, for example I can t say that frost shards are op, but in many scenarios its better then omega onslaught, wich is stronger. In the same way new weps coming out probably will have cores that make it reasonable to buy and don t breake the game (I think that they want to give us a reason to spend our credits when we get compensation).
@Remorse.If all good looking wepons where varium only then they shuldn t give you any advantage in battle, wepons are still good looking even if evryone can buy them, you just want evryone to look crap so you can look better then others...And honestly I dont want another dress up game, cores and specials are what you invest on to become better and thats what the majority of players care about.

^

They have made it a dress up game, when they made stat placement 100% flexible (with a cap per stat), their is no denying it.

Basically we have three options.

1. Hope for true dress up as a result better balance and most likely more profitability if they keep good looking weapons varium exclusive.

2. Hope for new powerful promo exclusive cores, limiting us to only the new weapons which is basically the complete opposite of dress up since its One style even more boring then dress up IMO.

or

3. Hope for them to change weapons stats to not 100% flexible such as, My idea was back when I was balancing enhancements.

Basically they could give all weapons set stats like how it was EXCEPT the same number of stats for each weapon (according to level) as it is now regardless of varium or not. But allow a small amount of customization which can be called enhancements but instead of ADDING extra stats they simply allow you to move a certain number of stats based the amount of enhancements you are willing to pay, I REPEAT THEIR IS NO WAY YOU CAN GET EXTRA STATS ON ANY TYPE OF WEAPON FROM WHAT IT IS NOW.

This type of change would probably take the devs months and they will most likely never consider this at least not for a long time.

Which means we can hope for imbalance or dress up game.

Since this games balance is what has made me quit this game I'm hoping they fix that.

Exile/Legion Core has 110% damage, just like Meteor/Plasma and +2 damage bonus on opposing alignment which puts it on par with Jack-o-Fire (113%) and Thorn Assault (115%), depending on your Strength. It isn't overpowered in the slightest.
