So, the Batoro villains. What do people think of them as villains? Cool? lame? need more screen time? need LESS screen time?

Also, Stephen Nix came up with a cool idea regarding batoro. I've added my thoughts on the matter also. Basicly it boils down to this. Would you want to see a Batoro War?

quote:

^ He probably got him on a lucky stun at the first hit!

Wow great release........this makes me extremely curious for a future release and it makes me want to write a story.

Seriously people think about it, what if we had a Supervillain War? Featuring all bad guys thus far *coughs* and I lead *coughs again* <-- Bad cough, seriously bad stuff!

There was a giant breakout in Falconreach Asylum, done by someone and it would be a war, the background scene would be a Falconreach area at Day or Night and we would fight the villains. ALL OF THEM!

EDIT: Ok another idea!

2 sided war!!!!!!!!

SuperVillains vs M.O.P.

Boss for bad guys can be whomever, boss for good guys....San Robin ad Batoro!

I'd be up for this, though i think that might be because I want to see more me. XD

I suggest personally that the foes be the waves, with a boss version of each foe and MAYBE a short cut scene explain their motivations and goals each 10% for all 10 foes. Also, if that were to happen I would want my char to have lots of health and revolve around buffing himself, getting more elemental resist and doing HUGE damage, since Bane is both smart enough to buff himself and has that Venom stuff powering him to hit harder and take more hits and that would thus be thematically appropriate.

As for the mastermind behind it all, I suggest... myself since clearly I am smart enough Razen Ah Ghoul since the villain he is based off of is the best mastermind. honestly, I don't care who leads as long as we BREAK THE BATORO.

Mind you, having said that, if we were going for a Knightfall parody which this would probably be, the final boss WOULD be Bane who did all this trying to break Batoro...

My opinion is that The Batoro villains are a great set of villains, and i reckon they deserve more backstory and would make for a AWESOME war. I also feel that there is a good Knighfall parody to be made here. I admittedly am VERY biased on the matter being one of these villains myself, but i want to know what everyone else thinks.

Discuss, and battleon!

Let me start by saying my opinion shall be biased as well considering I am also a Batoro villain.

So, I personally think that the Batoro war would be a great idea. Each of us could be a boss at a certain percent, and have a short cutscene depicting our criminal record, as well as a little backstory. Perhaps there could even be rewards based after our characters. So I personally can't see any major Points against it, and am all for the idea.

I will feel it important to note that as I highlight this should also be a discussion on their backstory and whatnot. So with that In mind I will start that discussion here also: What do you the deal behind the 10 batoro villains are? What was their first crime? How did they meet the caped crusader?

We never met the caped crusader. Batoro violates his two namesakes in that he entirely lacks a cape.

I'm of the opinion that a war wouldn't make sense for these characters. They have neither the minions to attack so openly with, nor would it be in line with their plots, I feel. No, I'd much rather have an event, with heists, and kidnappings, and holdups, and man-hunts, all performed with a certain degree of style and panache befitting of the characters.

^Good point about that cape.
Maybe he should be called the Capeless Crusader instead. ;)

Some larger scale clash between MOP/Batoro and the villains would definitely be fun - doesn't have to be a war, though I wouldn't mind one either. In Lore, recruiting a large army seems easier even than punting Twilly into a Gorillaphant, so that should be the last problem ^^

Yes, yes, a thousand million times yes!

If we haven't already met the Riddler, I say we definitely need to have some kind of puzzle game with him as the boss. That could be one of the war minigames, like the ones in Oaklore where you catch bandits. You know, the one with the squares, or some other equally fun minigame.

But yeah. I'm all for a Batoro war. Or event. Or whatever. Just more Batoro.

I'm in the opinion that a nice quest chain would be better than an event. I'd rather it be permanent is what I'm saying.

I'd be down with a perma-war though.

EDIT: It could end with MOP recruiting the villains to fight the rose, lol.

See I am two sided on this. The way we ask for more backstory is asking for quite a bit.

You would have to get someone to work on cutscenes after cutscenes and in the end, it would prove to be a lot of extra time into such a huge effort for such little story plot. A war is not something done easily, if you want it as a wave of minions and that end guy would be the boss of those henchmen, you are asking for quite a bit. The inner gamer of me would also yell at you due to the M.O.P. as cats....etc.

On the other hand, a war is a war, that is all the motivation that takes for people to want to fight in it. We here on the DF forums love a good war.

I would just leave this discussion to what the people think of a possible Batoro War? Leave what would entitle in it up to the DF team. In my opinion if they did not go into a backstory I would be perfectly fine with this. These villains are seen as random characters, and spur the moment ideas. As lovely as they are, they take no stand anywhere near the other villains our storyline is currently working on. Though I'm not going to lie, if this was possible, Id wanna take on the Dork Knight myself!

I would LOVE a war like that. There could be different wave choices (like the Storm War): Killy Willies Waves with Nix as a rare wave, Feline Waves with Salene as a rare, Plants Waves with Myra as a rare, Ninja Waves with Hel-X-e as a rare, Bandit Waves with Megakyle as a rare, etc.

Waves of slimes that can weaken your damage by 90%? Yes please. I think now that we are more experienced with wars, if it was during a holiday, we could possibly pull it off.

Hmm... War, or Quest involving a 60's-Batman-style fight against all of the villains in a warehouse while Batoro and San Robin do choreographed stage combat?

Decisions, decisions...

Salenes Plan is to use her drugged Cat Nip to hypnotize the M.O.P, creating a small armada of cat villains. And yes Nix, i completely agree with what you are saying. It would be a ton of work. But I feel like it would be really worth it, and would be an event we would all enjoy. And im not going to lie, beating up the dark knight would be super fun

I think it could also be very interesting, if instead of a war, each villain just had their own quest. the quest could be slightly longer than the last one, and involve more in depth story. The violet Feline plans on controlling all food that comes into town. When the food comes, she will infect it with her Cat Nip, then release it to the town of falconreach. Once everyone is sufficiently useless, she will take the docks for herself and create a fishing empire! (as well as dispose of the entire town)

what are some other people's devious plots?

I think a war between the villains would be interesting. Fighting warwaves of simple monsters, with each of the forum villains being a rare wave.... but despite how much fun the war would be, I honestly have to agree with Mordred. I have trouble seeing these characters find a way to get huge numbers of followers, although if anyone COULD find a way, it'd be the DF staff.

A fun quest chain would be cool as well, though. It wouldn't be a special event, but you could still fill the entire set with puns and references. Also that way, if you did a quest for each villain, you could expand more on that villains style. The ones who rely on trickery can have a quests filled with traps, like the recent Sandsea. The ones who rely on brute force can just through monster after monster at us, etc.

@Above that is a good idea! What I was thinking though, is that the night time of falconreach really needs it's own mini saga sort of thing. That mini saga could be the Injustice League rises. Each quest shows all the villains ina secret lair scheming, and in each quest you take out one of the villains and stop their evil plot. The quest's could also revolve around the hero needing to gather forces to fight the villains, like going around lore and finding Supreme man, or Martian Tog hunter, Or Scorpion man! things like that could be insanely fun side quests!

If that were to happen, i would want mine to be where you start out by hearing rumors that boats and priceless artifacts have begun to go missing by the docks. You go to investigate, and find A whole bunch of VERY large cats stalking by. You have to fight each of them in a maze like quest, until finally you get to a large sunken boat on the shore. you step inside, only to see me sitting at a table eating a small feast. I explain my ploy to take over the docks using my hypnotic drug, CATnips. The hero then proceeds to fight a few hypnotized villagers, who are each slightly stronger than the normal enemy. Finally, after they are all defeated, I casually walk over to the hero and say game on. Thus the fight ensues. I am now wearing purple armor, with a black whip in one hand. My mask has a black hood around it, and I have a mask on. Next to me is my Cat isis, who is a panther. I have the same moves as before, except now I can also do a heal stun move, where i pounce at the enemy, healing myself by 5% of my total HP and stunning the enemy for one turn.

I am an evil cat burglar with a strange affinity towards felines, but I am also a charming lady, and sometimes my charm can be BLINDING!!!!

I think wars, which are serious in nature, should be reserved for serious storylines. Quite frankly, I don't think the Batoro quests should even be in the game, due to how much they contrast from the rest of the game, let alone have any more attention handed to them. I just don't feel any of it fits with DF's universe, even for side content.

ArchKnight was a self-contained story, which allowed it the freedom to be itself. If this was the same for Batoro, then I might find it a bit more appealing. Still not the best platform, but would definitely be better.

@Above I agree with you on some levels, but one of the things that I love about DF is the contrast between Humor and the more serious aspects of the game. I think that should tghey choose to expand it, that would be great, and should they choose not to would be fine as well. It is also a nice break from the more serious parts of DF, like the rose and the tomix continuation.

@above: I do enjoy humor in the game too, when it is used appropriately. Like a single line within a quest, a single quest, or a single back-and-forth between characters. When I used the word contrast, I actually meant to say that was that the Batoro quests contrasts too much from everything in DF, including the other humorous aspects. So even among those they stand out, and not in a good way.

Supervillains and superheroes, should stay as far away from fantasy RPGs as possible, because they generally follow a completely different tone and atmosphere. If you don't keep such characters and stories within their natural world, they fall apart and become mere shells of their originals, which is just sad to see. If you do try to include and rewrite them into a fantasy RPG, they end up becoming much too silly for the characters that they're based of, and in turn stick out too much from the RPG, because such characters never belonged in there in the first place. This, at least in my opinion, leaves a negative imprint into both parts.

I do agree that it is nice with occasional breaks from the serious storylines, but I still believe that original in-game characters should take us there. These characters were made to fit into this universe, and despite being inspired by other media at times, they still transition better into Lore's atmosphere and feel than superheroes and supervillains.

@Above Same. Plus a sort of Gotham style bad guys vs. good guys war is exactly what we need. Although I hope that if they do expand this, they give it a few weeks so that we can have a break from all the jokes and funny banter and get into the more serious stuff. After that, a sort of joke war would be probably the best thing possible.
