It is one of the things that have put me off from the game despite putting hundreds of hours into pretty much every other AE game. Trying to get to just level 7 seems like an unobtainable goal and even the monsters in the Trolluk cavern take/give hits like a boss monster. It doesn't help that they are all 1-3 levels higher than I am.

At lower levels, so long as you grind out all the new gear in each map, you should be getting enough XP. If you're still having trouble, make some friends, group up with another players, and clear the quests together.

We've all been there
the EXP curve is really, really messy right now and unless you're okay with grinding mindlessly don't expect to level up anytime soon.

Hope the devs change this soon

since there are only 16 levels in the game; we have to treat it as if they were 70 levels.

anyways once there is more content and levels, the earlier levels will get scaled appropriately; similar to how the first 3 levels got drastically scaled down (remember when it took 1000 kills to get level 2?)

Oishii posted this on the Feedback Thread in regards to the exp curve.

Well as long as its being considered and worked out, I guess its not incredibly urgent. Until then though, I don't see myself enjoy the game until it is in a more comfortable state and getting to level 7 doesn't feel like getting to level 97.

Completing quests actually give lots of XP so you can progress to the next area just fine just by doing the "story line".

The progression is kinda linear though so don't be mad if it still bores you.

i've found that dragonwatch battlefield is a good place to farm exp with warrior due the the constant flow of 10 exp per kill + the squishiness of the monsters.
just doing the story alone while merging while you can, can get you stuck at doomwood.

I almost wish the leveling was slower, as thats really the main part of playing the game right now. The end game is minimal and there is no skill/talent/attribute/class hybrid customization yet.

So really just enjoy the game for what it is meanwhile until we get something meaniful to play around with and make our characters and builds unique.

I'm pretty sure the curve will be squished once the level is no longer capped at 16.

Still wondering why can't they just stick to one formula and work on other things. Why treat it as 70 levels? Just treat it as 16 levels, make adjustments to the current mess and go up from there.

Heck, this is open-beta phase and the parties, guilds and other common mechanics are still nowhere to be found. End-game contents isn't really top priority when it's still hasn't finish the development phase.

Besides, can't say it'd be good for the game if the trend continue every time the level cap goes up. Imagine you spend entire weeks forcing yourself to grind hundreds of monsters on a boring and repetitive combat system to get to the next level and then the cap change and this new guy jump to your level in a few days; all the efforts that were wasted are now practically worthless and most casuals would just rage quit out of frustration, and since this game is marketed toward casuals that probably is not a good idea.

They probably don't want players reaching the level cap to quickly.
