I have seen much suffering. And so, I dispel my wisdom in a larger space.
  1. Wait for more people to join. Fighting with more people is easier, and the room can hold 20 people. After Akriloth is killed the first time, the room will lock.
  2. Stop using Mage. It deals significantly less damage and can't stun Akriloth. Dragonslayer > Rogue = Warrior > Mage > Guardian (in this fight, Warrior is preferred over rogue because Weaken is ineffective and Whirlwind is good against minions)
  3. Zoom out the camera. See when Akriloth is attacking!
  4. Complete the Akriloth Group Challenge until you can swiftly dodge his clearly telegraphed attack patterns. This step is important because it lets you know how big his hitboxes are. You can solo him and take no damage at all.
  5. Kill minions whenever they spawn in. 20 vs 3 is the easiest fight in the game. Just do it. You'll save yourself a lot of pain, especially if your team is smaller.
You've done it! You can now beat Extreme Akriloth the EASY WAY. Congratulations! Now keep doing it until he drops something.

I now have ALL the drops off Extreme Akriloth. Woo. Still need a few helms and weapons from the challenge version...
Drops are certainly between 1-8%

lmao
Mage is the only one that can damage it while dodging though so your argument is really invalid.

Constant attacks do not always equal higher DPS. Furthermore the longer you can chain stun the less you have to worry about losing DPS due to moving

Even if you can't stun Akriloth he still takes damage from the skill anyway.

@XeNON_54 Mage isn't the only class. You can dodge all of Akriloth's attacks and stay within his aggro-range with a melee class. It's those minions that make it difficult.

But can you dodge WHILE ATTACKING using a melee class?
I don't think so.

Constructive & Helpful!

Yes, you can, as long as you stay in range of the enemy. You do need to stop moving to be able to activate abilities though, but you only really need to move every X seconds anyways, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I feel like the "you can dodge while attacking" argument is not that great of an argument for using mage, but if you feel like it works better, go for it. It's not inherently wrong to use mage, it's definitely a little simpler, but not necessarily more effective.

Also, something you should note is that you can stay in range 100% of the time doing the first phase, no attack will ever force you out of range. In the second phase, there's only 4 out of 8 possible attacks that forces you out of range for the entire animation (technically only 3, but staying in melee range during the Flame Breath attack straight though the arena means you have to stay in more or less a perfect spot, which I would definitely not recommend on Ultra Akriloth because it doesn't have the attack area displayed). So you have 4 attacks left, 2 which doesn't force you out of range (left/right breath attacks), one which if dodged around well only loses 1-2 seconds of attacking (the side to side breath attack) and the last one that covers mostly the entire field, which still only loses 5-6 seconds, at worst.

If mage really does have worse DPS than other classes, this should them out or get mage closer in terms of efficiency. I wouldn't say mage is better to use than other classes (I still think Dragonslayer is the best to use for this), but I am not saying anyone should stop using mage, especially if it can make them stay alive longer while contributing damage. I would rather have a mage that's alive during most, if not the entire fight, rather than another class who keeps dying constantly.

Speaking of that, what annoys me the most about so many people using mage is that they:
a) Don't care about dodging whatsoever, when all they had to do was walk a little bit left/right/forward/back.
b) Don't understand that Akriloth Resets if there's no one in range for either X amount of time, or at a specific timing in the fight.
at least 50% of the mages I see do one of these things, although the second scenario is a lot rarer than the first.

All the classes are useful during the fight.

- Warriors can use Whirlwind as their 5th skill to increase everyone's damage by 10% & decrease Akriloth's armor by 10%, maximizing DPS for everyone for a short time; also damage minions with Whirlwind
- Rogues can apply stacks of poisons for consistent, high DPS than a Mage at the cost of being riskier
- Dragonslayers can inflict higher damage to Akriloth than Warriors at the cost of no team buffs; combined with Warrior's buffs & Dragonslayer's Empowered Shatterscale/Final Descent, you can inflict a lot of damage to Akriloth
- Mages can consistently damage Akriloth at a very safe place with ranged Auto Attacks & skills, but at the cost of a lower DPS than other Classes; the low DPS is usually forgiven since you can stay alive in the fight much longer than the other classes so long as the Mages can move out of an attack's way
- Guardians can help deal with minions & heal hurt teammates; Akril9th can still 1HKO you, but at least they make dealing with the minions easier

Can't say anything about Paladin, since I don't think I've ever seen one in a fight, most of them are AFK at Yulgar's(maybe Yulgar should charge a loitering fee). Just use the Class(es) you're best at during the fight. If you know how to dodge all his attacks, that's great. Just remember that most people still don't know, so it's probably best if they stay Mage if they can stay alive, which should be easy.

I personally use Mage on the 1st Phase & Warrior on the 2nd.

Plus I feel that mages, as long as they know what they`re doing, are vital to keeping him aggro'd if the entire melee group dies (happens more often than you think.)

Mages are essential in this fight. Especially during the 2nd phase where melee classes tend to die much often. They're the key to keep him from resetting.

Guardians have their uses as well. Their little healing can be a game changer when minions start spawning.

Warriors don't need any explanation.

Dragonslayers don't need any explanation as well.

However, i do find rogues to be kinda useless since Akriloth's attacks one shots you. Their poison is minimal and they don't have AoE attacks to aggro the minions or range to keep him from resetting, it's my opinion tho i can be wrong.

Mages are only essential if everyone is bad at the game. Maybe it's a mobile thing though. I play on PC and almost never get hit by Akriloth.

What's with you and your bias towards Mages so much?
Go play with whatever class you want just don't bother other players with your preferences.

Okay, yeah, probably mobile. I can avoid most of his attacks, but I invariably get hit a couple times a match. The controls just aren't as responsive on a tablet.

Whether it's mobile or not, the atrocious hitbox can cause a wipe. Or the straight flamethower can spawn kill people. That's why mages are important during the 2nd phase. They're least likely to die to his attack.

I see mages die the most though... Perhaps it's harder to dodge Akriloth's beam attacks from afar because the radial distance is longer, requiring more movement if you misread a telegraph.

Most noobs just use Mage since it can attack in range so they can dodge faster but they can't really tell where to dodge without the red markers.

The more competent Mage users wouldn't even die in the first place.
Akriloth only has 4 ways of attacking with each arm so that's 8 attack patterns during Phase 1.

They all have unique tells too so players who've memorized the patters would be able to react quickly enough to dodge them.
I've done a few 0 death Challenge Extreme Akriloth runs before since I can actually tell where his hits would land now. While it is hard to actually accomplish this on Extreme, it still is doable.

Most people just wing it instead of trying for a hard read of his attacks which is why they die more often.
