Thanks, IMR.

Note that I have spelled Sk'oauld two separate ways. The quest itself switches between the two, so I've done the same.

FarGate
Quest Location:
Engineering -> Gravlax -> Missions -> FARGATE
Quest Given From: Gravlax

Dialogue:

Gravlax: Bunja renak, friend! You have come to me at a perfect time. I have just discovered a perplexing new energy signature. I first noticed it on the planet Symiphid in the Deltron system.
Gravlax: At first I thought it represented a black hole on the surface of the planet, but then the energy burst disappeared. It began appearing fairly regularly, however, and I was able to cross-reference the readings.
Gravlax: I found a number of similar signatures that I had discounted because of their irregularity. They all seem connected, however, and appear and reappear in patterns, even though separated by great distances.
Gravlax: Can you go to Symiphid and see if you can find what's creating these energy bursts? I'm so excited to find out, so try to come back alive, okay?? Glabbus jibly!
  • To Symiphid!
  • Back

«Scene: The LSS Alteon flying through space. New Scene: Engineering Deck.»

Gravlax: So, «You», Zorboz ran a few new calculations and there is something else you might need to know for this mission...
«You»: Spill it, little robot... I don't have all day.
Zorboz: Rude fleshling. You know, all I've been trying to do is help keep all of you alive out there, and all I get in return is disrespect.
«You»: Well, I-- I'm sorry, Zorboz. I never knew you felt that way.
«You»: I thought you had a tough titanium skin, and not tin foil skin that could be hurt by a few words.
    Gravlax: Ha! *snort*
Zorboz: 01001111010100100100110001011001*!!!! That did it! I think I just won't tell you the very, very important information you need to know for this mission!
«You»: Okay, okay, Zorboz-- I'm sorry. It's just that it gets a little stressful being the go-to hero for all of the WarpForce's important missions.
«You»: Sometimes I just need to blow off some steam, and, well, you are just an easy target for verbal attacks.
«You»: Not to mention, you namesake Zorbak on Lore is not known for his selflessness and good intentions.
Zorboz: ........ That is understandable, given the fleshling propensity for lacking emotional control. I suppose I can forgive you just enough to help you preserve your life on this mission.
Zorboz: So, here is what my calculations revealed: Whatever the source of Gravlax's energy signature, it has been in existence for at least 500 million years.
Zorboz: Whatever you will encounter will be very old, very advanced, and therefore very dangerous. You may want to pack an extra pair of underwear.
    «You»: ................
«You»: Thank you for that, Zorboz. I think I'm going to go to Symiphid now.
Zorboz: I'd like to come with you. This promises to be an interesting mission.
«You»: Great! You should probably pack an extra pair of underwear, TOO, then-- Oh, wait. You don't wear underwear. Or even pants. Because you're a robot.
Zorboz: ......... I will ignore that comment.
  • Go!

«Scene: The LSS Alteon flying through space. Your WarpFighter exits. New Scene: The interior of your WarpFighter.»

«You»: Alteon, this is «You» reporting. Zorboz and I are on final approach to Symiphid now...
Zorboz: I will have you know that I am not very good with turbulence...
«You»: Okay-- I will try to hit as many air pockets as possible, then.
Zorboz: Thank y-- Wait a!! grrrrrr...

«Scene: Planet Symiphid as your WarpFighter approaches. New Scene: A forested, mountainous part of planet Symiphid.»

    Zorboz: Multiple life signs detected.
«You»: Including the abundant plant life? I don't see anything dangerous...
Zorboz: Right. Switching to read heat signatures--
«You»: It's daytime, and it's warm here. That won't help us.
Zorboz: ......... Motion detector activated. Several large objects are approaching!
«You»: You have a computer for a brain. You should have gotten there faster than that.
Zorboz: Just following my programming. Garbage in, garbage out, as they say.
    ???: GRRAAAAHHH!!!
  • Battle with Zorboz's help!
  • Battle by yourself!

    Regardless of choice:

      2 BATTLES: 1 Skkree, 1 Malzar
      Full Heal
      2 BATTLES: 1 Space Leech, 1 Niv
      Full Heal

«Scene: A part of the forested mountains with the FarGate.»

    «You»: What is THAT?
Zorboz: I can only guess at this point. It looks like a huge picture frame. Very intricate design. All of those runes around the sides of it.
    «You»: Picture frame?!?
    Zorboz: It's a ROUGH guess.
«You»: It looks to me like it's meant to be some kind of a door... or gateway... but there's no reason for it to be out in the middle of nowhere like this.
    «You»: ....................
«You»: Zorboz, go touch it while I stand back here and keep an eye out for danger.
    Zorboz: Good idea!

«Zorboz goes to the FarGate and touches it. Fire explodes out of it.»

«You»: Did you see something come out of it!?!
Zorboz: No! I was too busy running away from that giant column of fire that just blasted out of it!!
«You»: We need to find out what came out of this thing. It must be some kind of-- teleporter, maybe?
Zorboz: Possibly. But it could be a weapon. It almost friend my circuitry.
«You»: You were a few feet away from it and you're not dead. I doubt it's a weapon. Follow me-- We need to find out what came through.
  • Go!

«Scene: Another part of the planet, less mountainous.»

Zorboz: !!! Something human-sized is approaching!

    «Sk'oauld enters.»

???: Stop where you are! Why do you follow me!?
«You»: Whoa! No need to react like that! We're just trying to find out what's generating a very unique energy signature that seems to span across the galaxy.
???: Ahhh. So you have come for the FarGate. I suspected as much. I cannot allow you to gain possession of the FarGate. I am duty bound to defend it with my life!
    «You»: Seriously? The FarGate?
???: You must now contend with Sk'oauld, the Gatekeeper!
  • Battle with Zorboz's help!
  • Battle by yourself!

    Regardless of choice:

      1 BATTLE: Sk'ouald
      Full Heal

Sk'oauld: You are quite a warrior, I must admit.
«You»: You have to believe me when I say we are NOT trying to steal your FarGate. We are only curious as to what it is.
Sk'oauld: So you search the worlds for curiosities and artifacts? You and this... bipedal iron rabbit?
Zorboz: Hey! I resemble that remark!!
«You»: No, I am a representative of a very large group that travels among the stars in a fleet of ships, called the WarpForce. We're trying to protect planets from a Network that is bent on conquest.
«You»: So, if you don't mind, can you tell us what the FarGate is and why you have come here using it? I'm guessing it's some kind of teleporter?
Sk'oauld: Teleporter? I don't quite understand the word. The FarGate-- ALL of the FarGates-- are magical doors that one can walk through to and reach places very far away!
Sk'oauld: We call the places we explore "worlds," because after many years of travel we have concluded that the FarGates are so far apart that they can ONLY be spaced worlds apart.
«You»: Wow-- So there are a LOT of these FarGates, and they open doors to different planets! Sounds pretty amazing.
Zorboz: Sounds like these FarGates are an incredibly advanced technology that can open wormholes-- essentially shortcuts through spacetime--
Zorboz: -- that result in nearly instantaneous movement across the galaxy. Such travel is only theoretical to us at this point. Even warp power takes an appreciable amount of time to travel under.
Zorboz: But these FarGates are a level of technology that is on the scale of the most powerful MAGIC. Indeed, an immense amount of mana would be needed to teleport across galactic distances.
Sk'oauld: Ahh, magic. My people have come across numerous magical artifacts, as well. But the FarGates are definitely NOT magic.
«You»: Did your people make the FarGates, Sk'oauld?
Sk'oauld: Oh dear, no! The last invention my people created was the telescope! Everything else we have found by travelling to other worlds using the FarGates.
«You»: I think we should take a look at another FarGate, on another world. Just to compare. Can you show us how to use this one?
Sk'oauld: Most definitely. I'll show you, but then I must be on my way.
Sk'oauld: There are some ruins nearby that contain a very rare jewel, and I must get more of them before this planet's rainy season begins and washes them away. Come!

    «Scene: The FarGate.»

Sk'ouald: Activating a FarGate is not difficult once you have committed to memory the meanings of all of the runes. They are what you use to determine the world you are to go to.
«You»: No problem. I have brought along a lot of extra memory, in the form of a bipedal iron rabbit.
Zorboz: I might have to experience drive failure simply to frustrate you.
Sk'ouald: So, you want me to activate the FarGate so you can go to a new world?
«You»: ANY world is fine. As long as I can breathe there.
Sk'ouald: Okay! I'll show you the proper runes to use to return here first--
???: Sk'ouald! That FarGate has been deactivated due to illegal activity.
    Sk'ouald: !!!

    «Sk'ouald leaves.»

«You»: Wait! Who-- Hmf. If this guy dies before he can show us how to use these FarGates I'm going to be upset.
Zorboz: What are you waiting for? We might need to keep him alive!
  • Go!

«Scene: Another part of the planet. «You», Sk'oauld, Zorboz enter after the Mindorian does.»

«You»: OH my goodness!! What the heck is THAT?!?
Mindorian: Sk'oauld, your privileges to use the FarGates have been suspended until further notice.
Sk'ouald: You Mindorians may think you own the FarGates just because your technology is so advanced you can understand how they work, but you've never fooled my people!
Sk'ouald: You've been taxing us for using the gates for years. Why would you keep me from using them now?
Mindorian: You are not allowed to let outsiders use the FarGates. All races who use the FarGates must do so through the Mindorian Alliance. It has been so for thousands of years.
«You»: Well, I would like to say that Sk'oauld was just being nice to us. We're explorers and only wanted to know a little bit more about the gates. Did your people make them?
Mindorian: ........ Possibly. The gates are millions of years old. Our race has changed many times over in that time, and much data has been misplaced or lost.
Mindorian: All we are sure of is that only the Mindorian Alliance is old enough to have invented the FarGates. No other race still exists today that could have done so.
«You»: Even if WE can't use it, Sk'oauld needs to in order to get back home. So please, just reactivate it for him.
Mindorian: The Mindorian Alliance are a logical people. We do not respond to emotional please. We DO, however, TRADE.
«You»: Really? Well, our fleet may have something you need. Name a price for allowing Sk'oauld to go back home.
Mindorian: We could use some warpcrystals.
«You»: Great! We have those. They're a rare and valuable commodity for us.
Mindorian: Excellent. We will only need 22.5 million of them.
    «You»: WHAT O_O
«You»: Why could you possibly need that many?? We only use a handful to power a giant starship!!
Mindorian: Hohohoho!! You power starships with warpcrystals?! Amusing! We manufacture toilet paper from them!
«You»: I hate to say it, but I don't think we have anything of value to trade with you.
Mindorian: Then unfortunately it seems Sk'oauld will have to live the rest of his days out here.
«You»: Not really... I could fly him back to his homeworld.
Sk'oauld: I will not stand for this, Mindorian. Your Alliance has pushed us around for long enough!!
«You»: Hey, hey, come on-- Let's not--

«Sk'oauld draws a sword and slashes at the Mindorian.»

Mindorian: THAT was uncalled for. I would have preferred not to engage in such barbarity, but since you have initiated such activity, I am forced to respond in kind.

«The Mindorian raises an appendage and blasts Sk'oauld off-Scene.»

«You»: I think you need to be taught a lesson in humility, bug-eyes...
  • Battle with Zorboz's help!
  • Battle by yourself

    Regardless of choice:

      1 BATTLE: Mindorian
      Full Heal

Zorboz: ........... The Mindorian dropped something. I'm detecting some minor radiation. Hmmm... I believe it might be some kind of REMOTE CONTROL.
«You»: It LOOKS like a remote control. What could he possibly have used it f-- OH.

    «Scene: FarGate.»

    «You»: It's nice to see you're alive, Sk'oauld!
Sk'oauld: It's nice to BE alive, friend.
«You»: We think you may have a way to get back through the FarGate. Try this!

««You» toss the remote control at Sk'oauld. The FarGate then bursts into flames again.»

Sk'oauld: Whew! Well, this little bit of Mindorian technology will certainly come in handy. Maybe one day my people will be advanced enough that the Mindorian Alliance won't be able to push us around.
«You»: I'm sure you'll get there someday. Good luck!

«Sk'oauld walks into the FarGate and disappears.»

Zorboz: He never got around to showing us ow to work the FarGate, did he?
    «You»: .............. Oops.
Zorboz: I suppose it will be easy enough for us to find more of these and painstakingly translate the runes ourselves over time. I'll let YOU tell Gravlax that, though.

«Scene: Your WarpFighter flies away from Symiphid and back into the Hangar of the LSS Alteon.»

    *Translates to ORLY
    Mission Debriefing:

So let me get this straight. You FOUND The source of the strange energy I detected, and it was a highly advanced gateway that leads to other gateways spread across perhaps thousands of planets all throughout the universe. You came into contact with 2 new races, one of which is millions of years old. You helped one get back home through a gate before he could teach you anything practical about the gates and you beat the super-advanced alien to a pulp.

I think I need to take a little break before I continue with this debriefing...

Here's the ending for SHEAR MADNESS (also correct the title in the entry, which says "Sheardhide: SHEAR MADNESS" when it's supposed to say "Shearhide: SHEAR MADNESS." I've included part of the part that precedes the ending so that the formatting is there.)
    To Battle!

      1 BATTLE
      Optional Full Heal
      2 BATTLES
      Optional Full Heal
      2 BATTLES
      Optional Full Heal

«Scene: Outer space, overlooking Lore. The Scene zooms in on the ruins of K'eld Alorin, and then zooms in further.»

«You»: SHEARHIDE!! Show yourself!! You've hurt enough people on Lore and in space already... it's time to end this!

    «Shearhide enters.»

Shearhide: Foolish WarpForcer-- If you think you can take me down, you'd better think again! My armies may have been defeated, but they are far weaker than I!!!
Shearhide: My name will forever be remembered-- Shearhide will be known as conqueror of Lore AND the stars above!!
«You»: That's funny. When I hear the name 'Shearhide' I think about SHEEP. I think you're nothing but a SHEEP, Shearhide... a sheep with big sharp spines. Hm...
«You»: Maybe you're tougher than a sheep. But it won't be MY hide that gets sheared today!!
  • Fight Shearhide! (Boss battle!)

Ryuusei: I see you have defeated Shearhide!! You are incredibly impressive on the battlefield. Really, you are. Quite the hero you have become.
«You»: You're Ryuusei Cartwright--? You were the avatar of the Devourer when he attacked Lore! YOU made Absolix! And YOU made Shearhide!?! I should--
Ryuusei: -- should what? I didn't MAKE Shearhide-- I merely changed him into what he wished to be. It's quite an amazing thing, really-- this Astramorphic Device.
    «You»: A what?
    Ryuusei: This--

    «He holds up an Astramorph.»

«You»: It looks like a Happy Fun Ball. Like a toy!
Ryuusei: It is no toy. It is actually a containment device. Its contents are released with a thought.
«You»: And what is inside the device?
Ryuusei: It contains an element from a distant sun called Mysterium. An alien called THE FINDER gave it to me. I couldn't resist trying it out on someone--
Ryuusei: And when a desperate dragon named Rath sought me out for help, I knew I had my subject.
Ryuusei: Since you have defeated him, I think this Astramorphic Device should go to YOU... Don't worry, I can make more. Hehehe... hehehehehe!

I have also re-done Enemy Mind; the current form is too long-winded and confusing.

    quote:

    Enemy Mind
Quest Location: WG Tower > WarpGuardian Missions > FIRST CONTACT
    Quest Given By: Temura Ge'Thrak
Requirements: A WGship and Level 65

Temura: Good to see you are ready for another mission! This one is a bit of a mystery. We have reports of what may be a newly discovered race of technological aliens around the world of Syrine IV.
Temura: Some of Captain Daian's scouts already investigated the area, however, and found nothing on the planet. They did, however, measure some residual tachyons in the system that suggests the Syrine aliens warped away.
Temura: Now that we have some markers for their warp drives, we can try to track then. Can you lead this mission and find the Syrines before they encounter the Network?
  • Find the Syrines!
  • Back

«Scene: The LSS Alteon flies through space. The Scene then changes to the Hangar Deck.»

General Stormfront: «You», I understand that you are leading the search for these missing aliens we're calling Syrines.
    «You»: I am! Any advice?
General Stormfront: We know very little about the Syrines, but what we DO know shows them to possibly be a dangerous enemy.
General Stormfront: We know they have warp capability, so their technology is on par with ours.
General Stormfront: According to our investigations, Syrines are a pure reptilian race that have found a way to harness magical power just as efficiently as technological power in space.
    «You»: Don't worry. I'll go prepared.

    «Temura Ge'Thrak enters.»

Temura: General, I've decided that I'll go along with «You».
Temura: I've made a few adjustments to one of our warpfighters to help us match the speed of the Syrine ships.
«You»: A FASTER warpfighter?!? Wow! Let's get going!

«Scene: «You» fly your "FASTER" Zhoom 6000 through space. The Scene then changes to show «You» and Temura in your ship.»

«You»: Alteon, this is «You». I'm on the warp trail of the Syrines. Pursuing in 3... 2... 1...

«Your ship enters warpspace. It then exits in front of the Syrine ships.»

Temura: I think we found the Syrines... and I think they were expecting us.

«Scene returns to the inside of your ship.»

Temura: What do you want to do now, «You»?
    «You»: Hmmmmm.....
  • Warp away!
  • Extend a peaceful greeting to the Syrines
  • Fire on the Syrine ship!

If you choose to warp away:
«You»: I don't like this at all, Temura... Let's get out of here!
    • Escape!
«You»: Alteon, we're headed back to you! The Syrines knew we were coming!

«Your ship enters warpspace, but then the Scene flashes red and you exit.»

«You»: Something just blasted us out of warp!
Temura: We have minor damage to the drive system, and no hull breach. Nothing we can't repair in an hour.

      «Outside...»

???: Ship of steel, we are Unaga. We have questions of you. Will you answer in truth?
    • Yes, we will answer in truth.
    • We have questions for you to answer first!
If you choose to extend a peaceful greeting to the Syrines:
«You»: Uhh... Greetings! We come to meet you in peace! We are from the WarpForce, a fleet of ships on a mission to defend peaceful worlds.
???: Squadmates, please resume the survey of this system while we continue here.

«All but one of the Syrine ships fly away.»

???: Ship of steel, we are Unaga. We have questions of you. Will you answer in truth?
    • Yes, we will answer in truth.
    • We have questions for you to answer first!
If you choose to fire on the Syrine ship:
«You»: Alteon, the Syrines were waiting for us in an ambush! Engaging now!

«A brief skirmish ensues. Then, the Scene returns to the inside of your ship.»

Temura: We took some damage-- I don't think it's a good idea to pursue right now.
«You»: It might not have been a good idea to start a fight with them. Did you see how the rest of them just left, and only one stayed behind?
Temura: Yes. They could easily have defeated us. On top of that, they took more hits than we did and were still able to warp away. So what now?
    • Repair your ship then return to the Alteon
    • Repair your ship then pursue the Unaga ship

If, at any of the junctures, you choose "Yes, we will answer in truth":
Unaga: Very well. First, tell us why you have pursued us.
«You»: We found evidence of your ships around Syrine IV, and hoped to make contact with you before you ran into hostile aliens we call the Network.
Unaga: So you followed us only to contact us. Interesting. We know of this Network you speak of. They tried often to get us to join them, but we discouraged them with our power.
«You»: You--? Wow. Are you part of a larger alliance as well?
Unaga: No. We are Unaga, and only Unaga.
«You»: How many of you are there? There must be many--
Unaga: We are few, but our control of magic and technology is very strong.
«You»: Why so few of you?
Unaga: We Unaga lost our homeworld long ago. For centuries we have been searching the galaxy for a new home. Syrine IV is relatively barren, but possesses the bare essentials we require.
Unaga: When our homeworld succumbed to the ravages of a gamma-ray blast from a pulsar, we were able to escape in 40 squadrons of our fighter ships.
Unaga: All other Unaga died, and the 40 squadrons, a total of 960 Unaga, split up to search for hospitable planets. For the past 3 centuries, whenever we find a good world, some Unaga remain behind on it.
Unaga: The rest continue on in the 40 squadrons. We have colonized 14 planets so far, and only recently have entered this region of space. Those 14 worlds contain roughly 19 billion other Unaga.
«You»: !!! How is that possible?? And why do the squadrons continue to colonize more worlds??
Unaga: Each Unaga is capable of giving birth on its own without a partner. Each Unaga is both mother and father. And we breed automatically, every 2 years.
Unaga: So over its lifetime, one Unaga creates 40 children. We continue to colonize worlds because we were once nearly made extinct, and want to be sure that never happens again.
Unaga: Tell us of the civilization you represent. How many habitable worlds do you have? Would you like to sell any to the Unaga?
«You»: Oh-- Uh, we... have many worlds. Many billions of people call them home. And I don't think any of them would want to sell their planet.
«You»: It seems to me there are now so many Unaga that you really don't NEED to keep colonizing planets. Some people might see you as a threat, which could precipitate a war.
Unaga: Your argument is logical, but ultimately the most logical action for us to take is to colonize until the odds of us ever becoming extinct are so minuscule as to no longer be a concern.
Unaga: We know of this Network you mentioned earlier. They tried often to get us to join them, but we discouraged them with our power.
«You»: The Network is probably the largest single group of races in the galaxy. If you are so powerful as to intimidate THEM, it may be that you have reached a stage where your race is safe.
Unaga: We know of forces that far exceed the Network's reach. One is a force of nature that travels the universe in search of worlds to feed upon. We intend one day to destroy this force.
Unaga: Only then will we be truly safe.
«You»: You're talking about something called the Devourer... But he cannot be stopped!
Unaga: With sufficient time, the numbers of Unaga will combine to create a force greater than this Devourer, and we will be able to overcome him.
Unaga: If any race or force tries to threaten the Unaga until that time, it is our obligation to remove it as a threat to our kind. The Unaga need neither allies nor enemies.

«Scene returns to the inside of your ship.»

Temura: This is incredible. We just randomly happened across what may be the most powerful race in the universe!
«You»: Right. And now we have to decide what to do about it...
    • Ask the Unaga to help repair your ship so that you can be on your way
    • Tell the Unaga that you share the same desire to defeat the Devourer
    • Attack the Unaga!
If, at any of the junctures, you choose "We have questions for you to answer first!":
Unaga: Very well. Please ask your questions, and we will answer in truth.
«You»: We found evidence of your ships around Syrine IV, and hoped to make contact with you before you ran into hostile aliens we call the Network. Why were you at Syrine IV?
Unaga: We Unaga lost our homeworld long ago. For centuries we have been searching the galaxy for a new home. Syrine IV is relatively barren, but possesses the bare essentials we require.
«You»: How many of you are there, exactly?
Unaga: When our homeworld succumbed to the ravages of a gamma-ray blast from a pulsar, we were able to escape in 40 squadrons of our fighter ships.
Unaga: All other Unaga died, and the 40 squadrons, a total of 960 Unaga, split up to search for hospitable planets. For the past 3 centuries, whenever we find a good world, some Unaga remain behind on it.

Unaga: So over its lifetime, one Unaga creates 40 children. We continue to colonize worlds because we were once nearly made extinct, and want to be sure that never happens again.
«You»: So these worlds you colonize... Do you only go after worlds that do not have civilizations on them already?
Unaga: We would never take a world from its owners, but we do often buy the worlds from their owners.

Unaga: If any race or force tries to threaten the Unaga until that time, it is our obligation to remove it as a threat to our kind. The Unaga need neither allies nor enemies.

    • Ask the Unaga to help repair your ship so that you can be on your way
    • Tell the Unaga that you share the same desire to defeat the Devourer
    • Attack the Unaga!

If, at any of the junctures, you choose to "Ask the Unaga to help repair your ship so that you can be on your way":
Unaga: We realize your ship is not as advanced as ours and you need assistance to be warp-capable sooner rather than later. However, we only perform services in trade for others.
Unaga: What can you do for us that we cannot do ourselves, or provide us that we cannot obtain on our own?

Continues with "You say that magic is as important to you as technology."
If, at any of the junctures, you choose to "Tell the Unaga that you share the same desire to defeat the Devourer":
Unaga: You desire to destroy this Devourer as well as we do? If this is so, would you say it is a possible outcome of your mission?
«You»: Well, yes, it is possible. It is only part of what we might be capable of.
Unaga: If it IS possible, and your WarpForce is capable of even greater power than this Devourer... then the WarpForce, and you, may be an even greater threat to the future of the Unaga!
      «You»: *gulp* No, I wouldn't say that...
Unaga: The most logical response to a possibility is to treat it as a PROBABILITY. Therefore, the Unaga must destroy you.
«You»: .......... Wait! We-- may be more valuable to you alive.

Continues with "You say that magic is as important to you as technology."
«You»: You say that magic is as important to you as technology. Well, my homeworld of Lore possesses much more magic. Perhaps you can learn something of magic there.
«You»: I can escort you to Lore once you have repaired us and you can speak to one of our wizards or archmagi.
Unaga: That is quite logical. We will repair your vessel now, and you will lead us to your Lore.

«A yellow light suffuses the interior of your ship.»

Temura: Unbelievable! All systems are optimal. They fixed not only our warp drive, but also every single other little thing that needed even the tiniest reworking!
«You»: Now onto Lore... Let's hope I didn't just make a huge mistake.
      «You»: Alteon, «You» reporting. We're escorting the Unaga to Lore in 3... 2... 1...
    • Go!
«Your ship enters warpspace and then «You» and the Unaga exit above Lore.»
Unaga: Take us to meet this wizard of Lore now.
«You»: Right away! Follow us down to the surface.

      «Your ships land near Battleon.»

Br^lk: «You» of Lore, I am Br^lk of the Unaga. This is your home colony?
«You»: Br^lk, nice to meet you face-to-face. Yes, this is my home colony. We call this town Battleon.
Br^lk: I am an Unaga Mage, specializing in the integration of magic with our technology. When can I speak to your own mage?
«You»: I called ahead. He should be here any moment now--

      «Warlic appears.»

«You»: Warlic! Thank you for meeting me here. I'd like to introduce you to Br^lk, mage of the Unaga race.
Warlic: It's my pleasure, «You». Nice to meet you, Br^lk. What brings you to Lore?
Br^lk: We Unaga are curious about this world. Our own scans show us that it is indeed one of the most magic-infused planets we have ever encountered.
Warlic: In our brief conversation before you arrived, «You» told me about the Unaga's situation and goals in our galaxy.
Warlic: I feel it is my obligation to warn you that though your strategy of extreme population is indeed logical from a survival perspective--
Warlic: --there will come a time in the future when the Unaga will become an enemy of itself.
Br^lk: We have thought our line of logic through completely, fellow mage. Biology and physics dictate eventually the Unaga population in the universe will exceed the ability of the universe to provide for it.
Br^lk: However, well before that pint in history is reached, we calculate that our combine, race-wide magical ability will be adequate enough to open bridges into neighboring universes.
Warlic: Ah. So you plan to expand infinitely. You seem to have overlooked one thing, however. One thing that even the power of infinity can never overcome.
Br^lk: Impossible. Give sufficient time, our species can accomplish anything. It is our nature. It is what sets us apart from all others.
Warlic: Drawing upon many centuries of study, I have come to see that the basic building blocks of the multiverse are magical in nature, and ultimately rely upon the balance between the elements.
Warlic: If the Unaga reach a point of such vast numbers that they tip that balance, and there no longer remains any force of nature powerful enough to restore it, the entire multiverse will cease to exist.
Warlic: It will be a cataclysm so total that no Unaga will be able to escape it. It will, in fact, end all of existence.
Br^lk: .......... That is troubling. you Lorians are bold, to blatantly offend the Unaga with such ideas.
Temura: If I might interject, I'd like to point out that we did not intend to offend the Unaga. We're just trying to help--
Br^lk: No. I will not listen to you any longer. You try to stymie us. I must gather the rest of the Unaga squadrons and confer with them on what fate your world should have at the hand of the Unaga.
«You»: What? I don't think so! Lore will not have its fate decided by anyone but Lorians. you aren't leaving here until you change your mind.
      Br^lk:

      «Two Unaga enter.»

Br^lk: The Unaga do not appreciate threats of any kind. You should know that by now.
    • Battle with Archmage Warlic's help!
    • Battle with Temura Ge'Thrak's help!
    • Battle by yourself!

      Regardless of choice...

        2 BATTLES: Unaga Warrior
        Full Heal
        1 BATTLE: Unaga Mage

Br^lk: You have displayed your power to a high degree, Lorian. The Unaga will leave your system now, but we cannot promise our paths will never cross again.
«You»: Br^lk, please continue to think about the actions your species is taking. The Unaga aren't alone in this universe. You can have friends if you want to.
Br^lk: I am unable to speak for all Unaga, though I can say that I personally am beginning to understand your thought processes. I will continue to think upon what I have learned this day.

      «Br^lk leaves.»

Warlic: I hate to say this, but if the billions of Unaga out there really WANT Lore, there is nothing we can do to stop them. The battle would be long, but in the end they would win.
«You»: On the other hand, Warlic, if we somehow got them to be on OUR side, the Network would be cornered. I'm going to say the next time we meet the Unaga, let's have it be on our terms.

«Scene shows the Unaga fighter flying from Lore.»

      (Ends in the Mission Debriefing.)
If, at any of the junctures, you choose to "Attack the Unaga!":

If, at any of the junctures, you choose to "Repair your ship then return to the Alteon":
«Scene: Your ship exits warpspace to see the Alteon surrounded by Unaga fighters.»

«You»: ........ Alteon, how are things looking from your end?

      «Scene: The Bridge»

General Stormfront: «You», we're in some kind of standoff with a small fleet of what we assume are Syrines.
General Stormfront: Do you mind telling us what you did to get them so excited??

      «Scene: Your ship.»

«You»: We were able to easily follow them. Since their technology and magical abilities rival ours, I'm sure they were able to easily follow the route we took back to you.
«You»: As for WHY... well, unfortunately we got into a little scuffle with them. *ahem*

      «Scene: Outside.»

Mur^Ok: I am Mur^Ok of the Unaga. I am an Unaga Mage, specializing in the integration of magic with our technology. I have led these squadrons to your homeship.
«You»: I see that. I have come to respect the power of your Unaga ships. You are a very advanced species.
Mur^Ok: It is good that you understand the futility of any attempts you might make to overcome us. However, it is not in our nature to allow threats to the Unaga to persist.
«You»: I would like to invite you aboard our ship, the LSS Alteon, so that we might be able to speak without threat from either side. Will you follow me into our hangar?
Mur^Ok: I cannot say that you have earned the trust of the Unaga, but logic shows that there is nothing you could do to endanger us at this point. We are in the superior position. Lead the way into your ship.
«You»: General Stormfront, Queen Pra'Mithia, would the two of you like to meet us on hangar deck?

      «Scene: The Hangar Deck.»

Queen Pra'Mithia: Welcome to our home amid the stars, Mur^Ok. I am Queen Pra'Mithia, leader of the overall mission of the WarpForce.
General Stormfront: I'm General Leet Stormfront, leader of the WarpForce's planetside warriors.
Temura: I am Captain Temura Ge'Thrak, leader of the WarpForce's special warrior corp, the WarpGuardians.
«You»: And I'm «You». I am the pilot of the ship that encountered you.
Mur^Ok: Interesting. You are an alliance of different races, it appears. Was your cooperation required in order to make your way into the cosmos?
Queen Pra'Mithia: Yes, it was. The peoples of Lore are of many races, and we pride ourselves on our ability to work together. If it wasn't for our unification, the Network would have taken our world.
Mur^Ok: Yes, we have met the Network before. They have learned not to attempt anything foolish with the Unaga... such as pressuring us to join them.
«You»: The Network is learning to respect US as well. We want to chase them out of our corner of the galaxy.
Mur^Ok: Your WarpForce is not equal to our Unaga fleet in power, yet from what I have seen you may indeed be able to best the Network, if not today, then some day.
Queen Pra'Mithia: I am curious as to how you are able to harness so much magical power, and control it in such a way that it enhances your technology so well.
Queen Pra'Mithia: My race on Lore, the Drakel, have followed a similar philosophy for thousands of years. Even on a magic-rich world such as Lore, we have not been able to reach the Unaga's proficiency.
Mur^Ok: We evolved alongside creatures of such magical force that we became imbued with a natural affinity to wield and withstand magical power.
Mur^Ok: My hasty study of your world of Lore shows that it is a very magical world, but it pales in comparison to the magic of the Unaga's former home planet.
Mur^Ok: You have a similar creature on Lore to the ones I speak of. You call them DRAGONS. We Unaga lived with our own Dragons in a symbiotic relationship.
Mur^Ok: Their magic protected us, and we in turn were able to harvest our Dragons' excess magic in the form of crystallized dragon's breath.
Mur^Ok: Without our talents, the dragons' life cycle was very short, and would end with an overload of magic that would do one of two things:
Mur^Ok: -- explode them or cause them to sublimate... turn directly from their solid form into a spirit form.
Mur^Ok: Neither fate was desired much, though the explosive exit from life often led to other casualties in a nest.
      Queen Pra'Mithia: How horrible...
Mur^Ok: When our world of Unai was destroyed, we few Unaga who escaped were spread far and wide from the Dragons of Unai who also escaped.
«You»: So these Space Dragons still exist, as well?
Mur^Ok: Yes. Unai Dragons' magic is such that it is ever-growing in power. Because of this, proximity to a magical world is not necessary for them to retain their magic.
Mur^Ok: These "Space Dragons," as you call them, continue to be as powerful among the stars as they were on Unai. And they no longer need US, the Unaga, to harvest their magic.
General Stormfront: This is all very interesting, but we still have the little issue of you surrounding my big ship with a bunch of your little ships. Do you think you could give us a buffer of a few thousand miles?
Mur^Ok: You have quite a confrontational manner, General. However, you are in no position to bargain with us. The Unaga are superior.
General Stormfront: Gravlax, this is Stormfront on Hangar Deck. Do you copy?
Gravlax: (over loudspeaker) I sure do, sir!
General Stormfront: Have we bought you enough time to complete the shield frequency modulator enhancements?
Gravlax: (over loudspeaker) Yes you have! Our shields will now reflect Unaga plasma blasts. Glabbus jibbly!!
      General Stormfront: Good. Raise shields!
      «You»: Sneaky, sneaky...
      Mur^Ok: Unaga, attack!!
    • Fight!

«Scene shows the outside, where the Alteon's shields go up and the Unaga start shooting. The beams are all reflected. The Scene then returns to the Hangar Deck.»

    • Battle with Queen Pra'Mithia's help!
    • Battle with General Stormfront's help!
    • Battle with Temura Ge'Thrak's help!
    • Battle by yourself!

      Regardless of choice:

        2 BATTLES: Unaga Warrior
        Full Heal
        1 BATTLE: Unaga Mage

Queen Pra'Mithia: I wish this meeting had gone much differently...
General Stormfront: The only OTHER way it could have gone would have been bad for us. There was never any middle ground with the Unaga. Am I right?
«You»: I imagine having your world destroyed would make you very protective of whatever you had left. The Unaga will stop at nothing to protect what remains of themselves.
Gravlax: (over loudspeaker) It worked everyone! The Unaga ships just gave up and warped away.
«You»: Remember, they can track us wherever we warp as well. Let's send the new shield frequency scheme to all other ships in the WarpForce.

      (Ends in the Mission Debriefing.)
If, at any of the junctures, you choose to "Repair your ship then pursue the Unaga ship":
«Scene shows your ship traveling through warpspace. «You» end up landing on Syrine IV, where Br^lk greets you.»

Br^lk: «You» of Lore, I am Br^lk of the Unaga. Welcome to Syrine IV.
«You»: What are you planning to do with this planet?
Br^lk: We are the Unaga, of Unai. Our world was destroyed centuries ago when our sun went supernova. Only a few of us managed to escape the system in time.
Br^lk: Our race was nearly made extinct by that event, and we have promised our ancestors that we would not allow such a fate to befall our race.
Br^lk: To that end, our few squadrons of Unaga have spread throughout the universe, colonizing suitable worlds as we go. This world is barren, but can once again host life.
Br^lk: Using our technology and magic, we will terraform Syrine IV until it becomes a blue and green world, and we will populate it with generations of Unaga for millenia to come.
Temura: We need to be sure that the Unaga will not take any aggressive actions against the WarpForce or Lore, and that you won't become allies with the Network.
Br^lk: Even OUR power does not let us see into the future, but I can assure you that there are enough worlds for the Unaga to acquire, and that we have no need to ally with the Network.

      «A Network battleship lands.»

Br^lk: !!! What ships are those? Is this some kind of trap? Surround us when we are on the ground?!
«You»: No-- that's not us! Those were Network ships. It looks like they had the same idea though...
Temura: Take us both out, make it look like they were never here, and start a war between the Unaga and WarpForce.
Br^lk: They underestimate us. The Unaga's power lies not within our ships, but within US.
«You»: Then let's work together and deliver a defeat to these Network assassins. What do you say, Br^lk?
Br^lk: It is the most logical path for us to take.
    • Battle with Br^lk the Unaga's help!
    • Battle with Temura Ge'Thrak's help!
    • Battle by yourself!

      Regardless of choice:

        1 BATTLE: Tytoa
        1 BATTLE: Malzar
        Full Heal
        1 BATTLE: Kor-Dem
        1 BATTLE: Skkree
        Full Heal

Br^lk: Thank you for your assistance, Temura Ge'Thrak and «You» of Lore.
«You»: You're welcome, Br^lk. so where does this leave us? The Unaga and the WarpForce?
Br^lk: The Unaga do not make allies or treaties of any kind, though we do make trades. Today you have helped us, but we have also helped you. So our peoples now owe each other nothing.
Temura: That doesn't sound very promising.
Br^lk: We know you are not enemies, and we will not attack you without cause. That should count for something.
«You»: It does, most definitely. Maybe some day we can trade again.
      Br^lk: Indeed.

«Scene shows your fighter flying back to the Alteon.»

      (Ends in the Mission Debriefing.)

    Quest Given From: Dr. Mendas
    Requirements: Level 55

    Dialogue:

Dr. Mendas: Oh, goody! It's nice to see you. I need some help! I've been working with Gravlax lately, and we have been trying to determine the function of some of the new technologies we have found since our journey began.
Dr. Mendas: Many objects are just so far advanced that we can't tell WHAT they do. However, one of the objects we recently were able to figure out has gone missing! If it was an alien salt shaker or toaster oven, I wouldn't be concerned...
Dr. Mendas: ... but this thing, for all intents and purposes, seems to be a cellular mutation device. We don't want it to fall into the wrong hands. Or claws. Or tentacles. So please, find it, and get it back to us!
  • Find the Device!

«Scene: The LSS Alteon flying through space. New Scene: The Bridge.»

Admiral Amada: Ah, «You», what brings you to the Bridge?
«You»: I was hoping to enlist some help from Captain Daian. I need to search the ship for some missing equipment for Dr. Mendas.
Captain Daian: Okay, is this the missing MUTATOR DEVICE?
«You»: Um, yeah. Gravlax had half of his engineering crew looking for it all day and still nothing.
Queen Pra'Mithia: Intriguing. Any idea as to WHO might have stolen it? Or even IF it was stolen?
«You»: None, Queen. I'm hoping it was just misplaced, because in the wrong hands it could do a lot of harm.
Queen Pra'Mithia: I'd like to go with you to help.
Admiral Amada: Well, uh, I really don't think a QUEEN should be involved in something like th--
Queen Pra'Mithia: Admiral, I am the only individual aboard the Alteon to possess healing magic powerful enough to use in space. I think that could be quite useful.
«You»: It would be an honor, Queen. Shall we?
Captain Daian: Let's head back to Sickbay first. I need to ask Dr. Mendas something.
  • Go!

    «Scene: The Sickbay.»

Captain Daian: Doctor, we are going to find this mutation device for you.
Dr. Mendas: That's good to hear!
«You»: Is there something important you wanted to ask Dr. Mendas, Captain?

«A little white chihuahua with a large head runs by, stopping at Captain Daian's feet.»

    «You»: !?!
Captain Daian: Oh, right-- Doc, would you watch Ruffian for me while we search for the Mutator Device?
    Ruffian: Grrrrr......rruuff! Ruff!!
Dr. Mendas: I definitely will, Daian! Dogs love to gnaw on my ears!

    «Pause, during which a stretcher rolls pass.»

    Ruffian: GRRRR!!! Ruff ruff!!

    «Ruffian chases after the stretcher.»

Captain Daian: Ruffian! Get back here, boy!
«You»: Looks like Dr. Mendas won't have to pet-sit after all.
Captain Daian: Hmf. Well, we'll find him while we're looking for the missing machine, anyway.

«Scene: A corridor in the Alteon. Ruffian approaches from the left and runs to the middle.»

    Ruffian: *sniff sniff*
    Ruffian: hrrmmrrrr.....
    Ruffian: *sniff sniff*
    Ruffian: grrrrrrrrr

«Scene: The Sickbay. Ruffian sniffs at the Anti-aging Cryo-suspension Healing and Emending device.»

    Ruffian: *sniff sniff*
    Ruffian: hrrmm???

«Scene: The LSS Alteon flying in space. New Scene: The Hangar Deck.»

    Warptrooper: *whistles*

«The Warptrooper walks forward. As he does so, a machine appears behind him and zaps him.»

    Warptrooper: AARRRRGGGGG!!!!!!

«The Warptrooper mutates. The same thing happens to four other similar Warptroopers. New Scene: Engineering Deck.»

Gravlax: Jubum neeble! Now that you are all here, let me tell you that I made sure that EVERY security protocol was followed regarding the mousetrap device that--
«You»: Mousetrap--? Uh, we're here about the missing MUTATION machine.
Captain Daian: Is there something else you need to tell us, Gravlax?
Gravlax: Oh, uh, NO, not at all. Yes, about the MUTATION device--
«You»: Has there been any suspicious activity among any of the engineering crew? Or ANYONE at all that you've seen lately?
Gravlax: None that I've noticed. But I am rather busy most of the time. Zorboz, on the other hand, is rather idle most of the time, AND he records everything he senses on a daily basis.
«You»: Oooh... Like a walking security video thing! Can you go through everything you've seen in the last 24 hours, Zorboz?
    Zorboz: Okay.
«You»: WHile he's doing that, the rest of us should finish looking into every nook and cranny of the ship and--
    Zorboz: Done.
    «You»: ......Great! So, anything?
Zorboz: I noticed two different states of the Sickbay's storage compartment. The first was the proper state for the appropriate hour: All mechanical and robotic items were properly stowed for the evening.
Zorboz: However, before morning arrived, the storage compartment exhibited a lack of some devices.
«You»: Wait. So you're saying you actually SAW that the mutation machine was actually stolen?
Zorboz: I saw that it was MISSING, not that it had been stolen. But, it wasn't the ONLY device missing.
    «You»: What else was taken?
    Zorboz: One of the MediDroids--
Ensign Fisher: Captain! Emergency on Deck 7! Reports are coming in of-- of MONSTERS wearing WarpForce uniforms, running around trying to EAT people!!
Captain Daian: That's something you never like to hear!! Come on, we need to go!!

    «Scene: Hangar Deck»

Queen Pra'Mithia: I think we can all agree that those crewmen were affected by the mutagenic power of the device we've lost.
    Captain Daian: Without a doubt.
«You»: This is where the attack spread from-- The mutation device must be nearby.
    ???: (off-Scene) Ruff! Rrrrufff!!! Rufff!

Queen Pra'Mithia: Is THAT the mutation device, Captain?
Captain Daian: It is! Looks like all of its energy source has been used up.
    ???: (off-Scene) Rrruff!!

    «Ruffian runs on-Scene.»

Captain Daian: Good boy! Sorry that we had to fight with you, Ruffian, but you were trying to EAT us!
    Ruffian: Rrr owhrr rraw.
«You»: So we have the mutation machine... But what not whoever started this whole mess!
Queen Pra'Mithia: Why don't all of you regroup in Sickbay. I will let the Admiral know what's been going on.
  • Go!

    «Scene: Sickbay»

Dr. Mendas: Thank you all so much for getting the mutation device back!
«You»: It wasn't easy. But we still don't know who stole it in the first place...
Dr. Mendas: While you were gone, I consulted with Zorboz and we tracked down the culprit... Come on out!

    «A MediDroid enters.»

    «You»: ??? That's the missing MediDroid, right?
MediDroid HR7: Actually, I am the guilty party. I stole the Mutation Device. I... have been a very bad boy.
«You»: What? WHY? You mutated crewmembers!
Captain Daian: And my little Ruffian!! Why would you do that??
MediDroid HR7: I was hoping it might improve all of you imperfect organic entities. I am sorry to say that I was wrong. The way you are all NOW is far better than how you were AFTER mutation.
«You»: Well, uh, thank you. I guess. So Dr. Mendas, what are we going to do with HR7?
Dr. Mendas: Well, first he is going to help me examine the remaining MediDroids to see if any others have the same "malfunction", and then we will be uninstalling and reinstalling his software.
MediDroid HR7: I am afraid. But, I do not want to mutate any more of you. It yielded undesirable results.
«You»: Great. Nice to hear that you were displeased with your mutant creations. So, how long before you uninstall HR7's software again?

«Scene: The LSS Alteon flying through space.»
    Mission Debriefing:

Thank you for helping to solve the mystery of the mutating crewmembers! Well, okay, you didn't really solve anything. But you definitely stopped the mutants before they could do damage to the ship!

I am still very puzzled by MediDroid HR7's behavior. Gravlax and I will examine the robot's hardware and software in as much depth as we can, but we will probably need an expert in artificial intelligence to help us. I hope this doesn't become a common problem. We have an awful lot of A.I. robots in the fleet-- nearly one for every single crewmember!

  • It is nice to see you!
Queen Pra'Mithia: Many told me that traveling on the Alteon was too risky. They did not want to see their Queen go off into the reaches of the cosmos... But I must say that I would not give this up for anything.
Queen Pra'Mithia: The chance to see the universe in all its glory is something I could not say no to. And having such brave warriors by my side such as you is an honor!

Queen Pra'Mithia: The Network is spread across lightyears of distance and can be found on worlds both advanced and primitive. We will have to search the galaxy and fight the Network wherever we can! If we never give up, we will not fail!

    If you click on Celestra:

Celestra: I see you are adapting well to sailing among the stars, «You»! This is new to me, as well, despite my past...
  • Can you tell me more about the Devourer?
Celestra: The Devourer is a powerful entity considered by many to be a god. He is capable of gaining power by uncreating worlds and drawing from the power released.
Celestra: His function is a necessary but thankless one. His motives are difficult to comprehend... but many have come to believe he actually wishes to aid creation in the long run.
Celestra: No matter what the truth may be, I will always blame him for what came of my family, and all of the deaths his appearances on Lore have caused.
Celestra: When he is finished with a world... Sometimes it is erased entirely from time and space and forgotten. Other times it is left a husk, devoid of life.
Celestra: Usually his passing less profound. Chaos is stirred for a time. It is always expected that the Devourer may someday return.
Celestra: In his search the Devourer The'Galin has constructed an army composed of the scum of the universe. Some say he does this in hopes of redeeming them.
Celestra: Others say he wishes to keep the worst of the universe under close observation. We cannot know his mind or intentions.
Celestra: The Network has a mind of its own, however. They enslave the universe. They enslave and destroy worlds, and often in a very incomplete way that leaves a great mess.
Celestra: It is my goal that all in the Network know my name... and that they fear it. If some can be redeemed, then so be it. For those that cannot, I will be among the first to volunteer to take them out of the universe.
Celestra: It is the Network that is our greatest enemy, «You», despite what I may feel about the Devourer himself.
Celestra: They take many forms and have many leaders. Learn their faces and their natures. Learn their tactics and their plans. Our goal of defeating the Network once and for all depends on it.
    • Tell me about your past (see below)
    • Back (closes all options and returns you to all above options)
  • ... What ABOUT your past??
Celestra: I may not look like it, but I was born over a thousand years ago. My father, Garavin, raised me on the Isle d'Oriens on Lore.
Celestra: The Isle is a floating town, held aloft by a mixture of Drakel science and magic. It was hidden in a rip in reality, halfway between Lore and the Ethereal Realm.
Celestra: There it was safe from the Devourer. The Devourer The'Galin came to Lore 1000 years ago, when I was just 16, and proceeded to nearly wipe out most intelligent life on the world.
Celestra: He did this with the help of his Network of servants, races from other worlds who spread chaos and confusion, making it easier for the Devourer to siphon off life energies.
Celestra: But the Drakel race preserved most of its advanced technology by hiding within domed cities called K'elds. The Dwarves dug deeper into their mountains. The Elves fled into the deepest forests.
Celestra: And the Humans, while very primitive, managed to survive in small groups spread across the planet. Many Humans who managed to be capture by the Network were subjected to experiments.
Celestra: ... and these victims became the first Orcs*. Meanwhile, on the Isle, I was safe. But to hide there, my father and I gave up everything. All of our friends and family died in the Devourer's first attempt to purge Lore.
Celestra: My father became cursed as well, gaining immortality in the process of saving us. We believe the curse was given by the Devourer himself.
Celestra: For all of these reasons, my father and I were no happier when the Devourer left. Yes, he did not destroy Lore completely. And yes, its races would reemerge, and grow powerful once more.
Celestra: But my father and I could think of nothing but VENGEANCE. To that end, we worked with others n the Isle who felt the same and came up with a way for me to track the Devourer.
Celestra: I trained with the greatest warriors and finally donned the Gauntlet of The'Galin, which would allow me to cut through time and space that the Devourer had passed through himself.
Celestra: I left my father behind, who had become The Eternal, and started on my journey. For almost a thousand years I followed in the Devourer's footsteps...
Celestra: ... witnessing the awful, but varied, effects of his terrible movements. Wherever the Devourer passed, a world was left behind: either damaged beyond repair or changed for the worse.
Celestra: Traveling the wake of the Devourer affected me, as well. It made me stronger, faster... and slowed my aging so that for every year that passed, I aged only a day.
Celestra: Try as I might, I could not catch up to the Devourer. The best I could hope for was running the Network, or some of its Agents, off of a world and giving it back to its native inhabitants.
Celestra: And then the WORST happened... I had failed completely. The Devourer's cycle had brought him back to Lore-- a world that he allowed to survive. He had returned.
Celestra: I was alerted to this by my father's beacon sent forth from the Isle, and so I hurried back to Lore. One of the last acts my father and I helped with before I left turned out to be very smart:
Celestra: We forged Weapons of Salvation**, using the mineral Viridium, which most agents of the Network are weaker to than other Lorian minerals.
Celestra: Rare Viridium is formed by the Devourer as he travels through spacetime-- and so he actually HELPED us this time. Unwittingly, of course, but it made me feel good anyway.
Celestra: We battled forces of the Network on Lore for over a year before we managed a victory-- the first victory ANY world had against the Devourer!
Celestra: Lore was able to put forth a great show of unity. We could not defeat the Devourer but we offered him enough challenge that he paused.
Celestra: In doing this we discovered for the first time the truth that most of his Network seeks to hide.
Celestra: He does not seek to destroy at all. He actually seeks to purify and redeem... but his Network acts to further their own dark goals. He was pleased by our resistance.
Celestra: Some say he would even be pleased with our current plan. We must stop the Network where it lives.
Celestra: In the process, MANY lives were lost, many sacrifices were made, and Lore became a far more united place than it had been.
Celestra: My own father's curse was lifted when the Devourer left this time, and he died. It saddened me, but his spirit lives on.
Celestra: Remnants of the Network remain on Lore, and we trust the warriors there to root them out and defeat them. But the unification of Lore has allowed us to create this fleet-- the WARPFORCE--
Celestra: -- and with this new power there is no more important mission than to find and destroy ALL of the Network we come across!
Celestra: And if this power allows us to actually MEET the Devourer, then I will be the first to show him the true meaning of destruction!

  • What is the Network?
Amada: The Network is a loose group of intelligent beings from all across the universe who have pledged loyalty and subservience to the Devourer. These creatures, alien and Lorian alike, help the Devourer spread anarchy and chaos.
Amada: There are some that believe the Network has its own agenda, apart from serving the Devourer. I suspect only a few people know the entire truth.

Amada: On the Hangar Deck you will find General Leet Stormfront, our special missions commander, as well as the armory where you can get weapons and gauntlets.
Amada: In Sick Bay, Dr. Milly Mendas can heal you. She also offers special Skills and Technologies (Skills & Techs) that can help you heal and take better care of yourself in battles.
Amada: The Engineering Deck is where Chief Gravlax keeps our warp engines running. He's also in charge of coming up with new technologies for us to use in our ongoing fight with the Network, so you will find more Skills & Techs there as well as Pets.
Amada: The Virtual Reality Deck is where you must go to train with our Holotrainer, Tronzor! He will get you in shape quickly! You will also get your Armors there.

    E-Leet Mission 8: Starship Snoopers!
Location: LSS Alteon > Hangar Deck > General Leet Stormfront > MISSIONS > Mission Select > 55: STARSHIP SNOOPERS
Quest Given From: General Leet Stormfront
Requirements: Level 55, Rank: First Lt.

    Dialogue:

Stormfront: Most of the time, it's our job to protect those who cannot protect themselves. That's exactly what we need to do today! It seems that the colonists of world P-98 in the Farbas system need help.
Stormfront: They are friends of the WarpForce and contribute supply shipments to our fleet, and their planet is a source of many important metals and other materials. However, they are being swarmed by Exo bugs who want the planet for themselves.
Stormfront: P-98 is mostly desert, so Ken Benobi will accompany you. None of us have ever SEEN the P-98 colonists, though, but just watch out for those Exo bugs and help the colonists push them off the planet!
  • To P-98!
  • Back

«Scene: LSS Alteon flying through space. Your warpfighter exits the Hangar Deck. New Scene: Inside the warpfighter, in which «You» and Opie-Juan are.»

«You»: Alteon, this is «You». All systems check. Warping to P-98 in 3... 2... 1...

«Scene shows your warpfighter flying through warpspace. New Scene: Your warpfighter flies toward Planet P-98. Scene then shows a shadow of your warpfighter as it flies over desert. New Scene: «You» and Opie-Juan in the desert.»

«You»: Yep... it's a desert, alright. Any keen insights, Opie-Juan?
Opie-Juan: Yes. But I think I will keep them to myself for now, so that you appreciate them later.
«You»: What? That doesn't even make any sense.
Opie-Juan: One day you will understand.
«You»: Is that some kind of old Star Knight wisdom?
    Opie-Juan: All will be revealed.
«You»: Now you're just messing with me.
Opie-Juan: In silence there is truth.
    «You»: ...............
Opie-Juan: Okay, I'm just messing with you. Actually, this planet reminds me very much of my homeworld.
Opie-Juan: Its native life will be adapted to low-water existence. I do not know why the Exos might WANT this world, however. Without abundant plant life, it would be of little use for them to colonize it.
«You»: The General said that the colonists have found many important materials of use to our fleet. The Exos probably want those.
Opie-Juan: We should try to make contact with the colonists first, and get an idea of how bad their situation is.
«You»: Okay... The colony itself is a little east from here. Follow me!
  • Battle with Opie-Juan's help!
  • Battle them by yourself!

    Regardless of choice:

      2 BATTLES
      Full Heal

Opie-Juan: How close are we to the colony?
    «You»: Another kilometer...
Opie-Juan: Only? I should have worn my Comfy Walkers (TM) boots.

    «Bugs drop in.»

    «You»: Bugs!
Opie-Juan: Exos?!? I've never seen this type of Exos before...
    «You»: ATTAAAAACK!!!!
  • Battle with Opie-Juan's help!
  • Battle them by yourself!

    Regardless of choice:

      2 BATTLES: Iznuk Trooper
      Full Heal

Zeenak: Please! ik-ik! Please, stop this! We are Iznuk, colonist friends of the WarpForce! ik-ik!
«You»: Wha--? Really? We thought you were Exos!
Zeenak: We get that. A lot. ik. But despite the fact that you just attacked us, we are glad to see you.
Zeenak: The Exos have just begun active invasion of our colony. ik-ik! We two are all that remains of an outlying mining village.
Zeenak: We are going to gather reinforcements. If the two of you can distract the Exos long enough, ik-ik, we may be able to defeat them before they can establish a beachhead here!
«You»: That's why we are here! Keep going your way and we will face off with the Exos!
Zeenak: We will! Let us save P-98 together!
  • Go!

      2 BATTLES
      Full Heal
      2 BATTLES
      Full Heal

«Scene: Iznuk colonists enter and begin to fight a horde of Exo Gunners. New Scene: Opie-Juan and «You» in a separate part of the desert.»

Opie-Juan: Our new bug friends are actually making a dent in our old bug enemies' ranks!! Looks like you and I aren't out of the woods, yet, though!
  • Battle with Opie-Juan's help!
  • Battle them by yourself!

    Regardless of choice:

      2 BATTLES
      Full Heal
      2 BATTLES
      Full Heal

Zeenak: The Exos retreated, but they are going to bombard us from the air! ik! We have no ground-to-air defense...
«You»: Don't worry-- We'll take care of them!

«A mini-game ensues in which you pilot your warpfighter by mouse control and you shoot down Exos. After completing the mini-game, Scene: Iznuk village.»

Zeenak: Thank you, friends. ik ik. We are beyond grateful for your help today.
«You»: We are glad that we were able to get the Exos off of P-98. But we couldn't have done it without you!
Zeenak: We will make sure that we are prepared for a recurrence of such an invasion. In the meantime, ik, please expect all shipments from P-98 to reach your fleet on time.

    MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
  • Return to the LSS Alteon!
    Mission Debriefing:

    You have done well, WarpForcer!

P-98 and its colonists are safe from the Exos for now, and since they will be dedicating resources to building up their own defenses they may be able to weather the next invasion on their own.

Another good thing to come of this is that the Iznuk have reduced their supply costs by 5 percent as a thank-you for your help.

And no, you do not get any of that 5 percent...

    FINception!
    Location: Engineering Deck
    Quest Given From: Gravlax
    Requirements: Level 55

    Dialogue:

Gravlax: How good of you to offer your help! Ever since we found a strange machine floating in the middle of the Gygax system, and brought it onboard, we have all had trouble sleeping. No one has yet figured out what the machine does.
Gravlax: We know the machine is very, very old... possibly more than a hundred millions years ancient, in fact. It has a control system but we haven't been able to decipher it yet. However, we know it is dangerous, somehow.
Gravlax: Everyone who has come near it has experienced disrupted sleep patterns, sleepwalking, and even worse. There have been a few-- accidents. So we have just moved the machine to a lab unit on Gygax-2.
Gravlax: I need you to go there and see if you can help figure out the machine-- at least some way to turn it off so it might be studied safely. Glabbus jibbly!!
  • To Gygax-2!
  • Back

«Scene: The LSS Alteon flying through space. Your WarpFighter flies out of the Hangar and to the planet Gygax-2. You descended through the trees and come to a small, metal shack, in which there is the strange machine.»

«You»: Dr. Rem--? I'm here from the Alteon.

    «Dr. Rem enters.»

Dr. Rem: Ahh, «You»! Sorry. I was taking a nap.
«You»: Really? And how much do you get paid again?
Dr. Rem: Heh. Well, since the Machine has been here, all we can do is nap occasionally throughout the day. If we fall asleep completely-- well, that is when the trouble starts.
Dr. Rem: This-- we've been calling it the Dream Machine-- seems to be able to pull things from our subconscious, but only from someone who is in dream-stage sleep.
Dr. Rem: It seems to only work within a range of 30 miles or so. Which explains why we've located this base on a sparsely colonized world.
«You»: PULL things from your subconscious? How so?
Dr. Rem: It is unbelievable, but-- the Dream Machine makes things REAL! we believe it uses quantum replication, only instead of copying a physical object--
Dr. Rem: -- it copies a DREAM OBJECT as the sleeper experiences it, and then reproduces it as a PHYSICAL OBJECT in the real world.
Dr. Rem: It is so far beyond our understanding as to how it actually does this that we are quite certain it must have been built by a civilization far more advanced than our own.
«You»: Okay, I can definitely see how that could be bad, in a lot of ways. So, Gravlax wants us to shut it off so that it can be worked on safely.
Dr. Somnambulant: (off-Scene) Dr. Rem!! Another emergency! Dr. Znor just fell asleep again and he had that nightmare where the Devourer's Network sends minions after him because he's their biggest threat!
«You»: So does that mean that Network aliens have suddenly appeared in the lab??
Dr. Rem: Yes it does! Dr. Znor keeps having that same dream. It's even more ridiculous because he's only 5 feet tall and weighs 105 pounds. How could HE be their biggest threat?!
Dr. Rem: Ahem. Anyway, we could use your help to clear out the Network minions.
«You»: No problem. I'm all about saving the day!
  • Fight!

      2 BATTLES
      Full Heal
      2 BATTLES

See below for Monster Encounter List.

Dr. Rem: Whew-- You took care of that quickly!
Dr. Rem: While you were gone I had a breakthrough and was able to narrow down a location of a shutoff switch for the Dream Machine. However, the switch is a VIRTUAL one--
Dr. Rem: -- I will need to go to sleep and DREAM about finding the switch in order for the switch to appear in REAL LIFE.
«You»: ..... You want me to look for the switch. Where is it going to show up? What will it look like?
Dr. Rem: It could show up, conceivably, ANYWHERE, though I'd expect somewhere within some thousands of miles. And, well, I am hoping it looks like a switch of some kind.
«You»: You definitely managed to narrow it down, all right. Well, okay. Let's do this.
Dr. Rem: I suggest you fly to planetary orbit to give yourself a wide search view. Off to bed I go. Dr. Alpha, prepare me a cup of SleepyTime tea!

    «Dr. Rem leaves.»

«You»: I hate you, Dream Machine.

«Scene: On your WarpFighter as it flies in planetary orbit.»

«You»: Alteon, I'm in low orbit around Gygax-2. Dr. Rem has entered dream state now.
«You»: We should be seeing SOME change in our scans shortly, once something manifests from his brain...

«Scene shifts to your communicator, upon which Gravlax's image is shown.»

Gravlax: «You», we're having some troubling power fluctuations aboard the Alteon...
Gravlax: You said the Machine makes my dreams REAL? Oh my... I think I see some power lines turning into... gulp... blood vessels...

«Scene shows outer space, in which the Alteon flying. It suddenly stops, and strange, multi-colored pulses surround the Alteon. They change shape even as the Alteon does, into a giant manta ray.»

«You»: Alteon-- you just turned into a gigantic manta ray!!!
«You»: Oh man... Are they even all still alive?! I need to board the ship ASAP!!

«Scene: The Bridge, which has turned into a mess of manta ray internal organs.»

Queen Pra'Mithia: Admiral, I do believe that our starship has transformed into a titan-sized living thing!!
Admiral Amada: You're most definitely CORRECT, my dear Queen, and we seem to be IN ITS GUTS!!
Queen Pra'Mithia: Would you mind taking your hand off of my tail, please?
Admiral Amada: I'm sorry, but it is kind of... STUCK there...

    ««You» enter.»

Queen Pra'Mithia: «You»! I had heard you were assigned to Gygax-2 for a mission!
«You»: Never fear, Your Highness, I'm here to save the day, again!
Admiral Amada: Does this travesty have something to do with the "dream machine" we sequestered away on the planet below??
«You»: Yes, it does. Say, have either of you happened to see anything in this big jumble of intestines that looks like a-- uhh-- SWITCH?
Queen Pra'Mithia: A switch?! In all of this mess? No, I can't say that I have...
???: (off-Scene) One, two... Freddy's coming for you...
«You»: Where's that voice coming from??

«A strange crow wearing a hat flies in.»

Freddy Crowger: Why, it's coming from ME, you featherless freak!
«You»: !!! I don't think you should be one to call someone ELSE a freak! Who the Heck are you supposed to be, anyway?
Freddy Crowger: I'm your worst nightmare-- Freddy Crowger! Actually, I'm Dr. Rem's worst nightmare.
«You»: That's funny. I don't find you frightening at all.
Freddy Crowger: Hmf! I'll make you eat those words!
    «You»: Sorry, I don't eat crow.
Freddy Crowger: Prepare to feel the sharpness of my claws!!!!!
  • Fight!

      1 BATTLE: Freddy Crowger
      Full Heal

«You»: Would you look at that! A great big switch just appeared after I defeated Freddy!
Queen Pra'Mithia: How-- convenient! I suggest you flip it, before it turns into something else!
  • FLIP THE SWITCH!!

«The switch is flipped. The Scene turns dark and returns to the appearance of a hall in the Alteon.»

«You»: Whoa-- Everything looks-- REAL again!
Admiral Amada: Good work, «You»! I can't even count how many times you have saved the WarpForce, or us!
Queen Pra'Mithia: «You» deserves a medal. Perhaps a Medal of Heroism?
Admiral Amada: I will work on that...
«You»: Dr. Rem, this is the Alteon, do you copy?

«Scene returns to the lab on Gygax-2.»

Dr. Rem: We're in good shape on Gygax-2, Alteon! Thank you!!

«Scene is outer space. Your voice is projected from the Alteon.»

«You»: We're safe and sound! Now, what trouble can we get into next--?

«Scene shows Freddy Crowger flying off-Scene.»
    Mission Debriefing:

You've done well, WarpForcer! With the Dream Machine deactivated, Dr. Rem and his team will be able to complete their analysis of it without worrying that their nightmares might become reality-- again!

To top it all off, I've heard, ahem, rumors that SOMEONE is going to be receiving the highly coveted Medal of Heroism. That SOMEONE might want to consider not letting such a high honor go to their head, though. The WarpForce needs us focused on our mission, defeating the Network, and not bragging about how we won the Medal of Heroism...
