I am sure the ED community is well aware of the existing faction war and Legion's inability to overcome Exile as well as the existing mechanical disadvantages which Legion faces due to taxing the losing side and so forth. These complications are, however, not what this thread will endeavor to address. There are more qualified individuals who have already and are continuing to try to rectify the structural biases against the losing side. This thread will, in contrast, hopefully shed some light on the storyline aspect of this issue, or the lack thereof.

From what I understand, BigTuna is the storyline writer, but he has been absent. Obviously, I have no way of knowing the progress the ED team is currently making in regards to storyline plans, so I can only act under the status-quo.

It has become apparent to me that, over the course of the faction wars, Exile is handily beating Legion. While this in and of itself is not the issue, I am curious as to the motivations of the ED players as to choosing whether to join Exile or Legion. As it stands, the easy decision is to join the perpetually winning faction, that being Exile. Getting to the point, there is a large absence of storyline motivation to transition to help out Legion in overcoming Exile. As far as I know, it is a black and white decision between evil and good, that being Legion and Exile, respectively. I realize that, in time, a central storyline should arise to provide some backstory in-game and not merely on the forums, I just felt that the current absence of a story in-game is detrimental to which ever side is constantly losing the faction war. It's just one less reason to support Legion, in this case, because you have no emotional reason to support them.

In closing, I just want to read about your reasons for choosing the side you did, whether it be Exile or Legion. Did you join the side you did because it was winning? Did you want to help out the losing side because they are the underdogs? Personally, I joined Legion because I'm misanthropic and I like playing the anti-hero. What are your reasons?

I agree with what you're saying, now people are just joining the 'winning side' and eventually that side will be overpowered and the other side will not be able to retaliate and try to beat the winning side. I totally agree with you on the storyline, we need one so more people have a background on both sides and then decide. (I'm sorry, I probably just said everything you said but in my words)

I picked Legion, but this had nothing to do with what side was best. I've been playing for a year now, give or take a couple weeks, and I chose Legion same reason as you did, but I didn't know that. I just like the 'evil' side as you may say, so I thought red was evil and blue was good. Knowing that, I went with the 'evil' side because good is overrated and they always win.

It's kinda ironic, I like evil, but I love the color blue. So why didn't I go with the blue side?? The world may never know...

^^ Same here. Except I prefer red and I chose exile. And also, if you look by Titan, you will see the Legion sign with blue instead of red, and no gold.

I am exile for a very simple reason. I was in a legion faction back in December, but we noticed that the exile war board was a lot easier to get on, so we created a new exile faction. Been exile ever since and won't change because that would require disbanding my faction. So I guess I picked Exile because at the time Legion was the best, sort of going for the under dog even though now the tables are turned.
I've never really cared much about the good/evil sides in games, I just play to have fun and the same amount of fun can be had no matter which side you are on. I wouldn't mind if I were still legion to be honest.

Inconceivable!

For me it wasn't very much related to the Storyline at all. I was originally in a Legion faction (Legit) and after that I joined Elemental Void (an Exile faction) just because I'm friends with several of the people in it.

The background behind the alignments really isn't reflected in-game, so until our decision to be eExile or Legion have some impact, the storyline isn't going to affect my choice.
