This game is under the AE banner, so it has a degree of casualness attached to it simply through association. Now we all know that ED has become a cut throat type game where people will do anything to get the advantage. So can a regular person just pick up the game and expect to do well the way the game is now? Discuss

I would say not casual at all. Its Epic Duel! You play for epic battles and fights, not for just a pastime.

Well, if you're in a fac, certainly cant be casual. But it was a pastime for me for awhile when i was factionless, doing 20-30 2 vs 2's a day, when im bored at home.

It is as casual as you want to make it.

Just depends on you. It has a lot of goals to aim for. Just pick and go for it. :)

If you join a competitive faction, then it will be more challenging for you.

Good Luck with what ever route you decide to take.

ED is like paintballing with my friends. Win with any tools given to you, by any means necessary. I hope you know you all scare me <3
Yeah, when you reach 30-33, it's really hardcore stuff.

not while i was on. i was competitive to get to the highest level as soon as possible, then i wanted to get the best items i could at that time. all while having some fun/happiness from beginning to end in spite what everyone was complaining about. was a mage/tlm/bounty and had previously owned/acquired 4 accounts by the end of my play. i have no anger for this game for it's nothing more just another past time or hobby which some or most will tire or grow out of.

In terms of it's development it seems causual.
Most of the time what would seem a minor bump in it's dvelpoment turns out to be another 1-3 weeks waiting.
I dont care whos fault it is, wat I do care is how long it takes to fix the dam problems.

Beep Beep! ArchKnight AQ / ED

The way i see it, it is as casual as any of the other AE games. You are not made to play for a specific time, or you must get this or that done or this will happen etc. Like any other competitive game, you only get better as you progress, and so does the enemy, if you want to take it slow, playing an hour or so a day then do so, or you can play for hour several hours, and gain a much greater amount of exp in one sitting (just don't push yourself though ;) ) then go for it. It is better (i think) to take it slow and try and make the most of the game than it is to rush to the level cap, get the items, then bam, you've hit the level cap and have the best items for your level and probably are bored/don't feel like making another character. Now, i think most people would enjoy levelling casually, taking it just a little at a time, and not rushing themselves to try and gain a greater advantage over the opposition. Even though PvP might be somewhat based on this, it is not always the best move.

Game is hardcore in the higher ranks. But the game lets you melt with it in the start. But at the maxed levels people will be using buffs, de buffs, bots, you name it and you need to be able to keep up and understand all the effects by heart. Things like, str effects guns and primaries, support is your auxes, focus if for bots which is gained by balancing, certain abilities are stronger then others and so on.

I just started not too long ago and regretting rushing to get to the level cap. It was a lot more fun to win or even lose ( esp. when u almost beat them) against higher levels and pushes you to look back on what you could've done better. Because of not making it casual this way, I also missed out on hanging out with friends and meeting more people. So If I had to do it again and as an advice to newcomers, I would take my sweet time and take in what the community has to offer. :D

Super casual unless you go for high percentage like me..
The best way to be casual is not care about wins or losses.

It can be hardcore if you want it to be.
1v1er, 2v2er, leaderboarder, famer.

Enjoy what the game has to offer, and I suggest that you explore every nook and cranny.

One of these are epicduel world records :D

I can't agree more with Epic, he is correct, you can achieve star ranking, battle ranking, fame all that kind of features and you can have fun at the same time.

Depends on you. If you want it to be casual, then be casual. But if you want to be competetive, then you can go ahead and do that.

@circe- ;) beat ya

Stand Back

I would say it's as casual as you make it - same as with any of the other games. I mean, I don't play AQ or AQW at all. I play DF and MQ a smidge but not all that often, same with ED. And the thing I LOVE about it is that I can log in after a month or so, play through all the new content and giggle at all the silly jokes and then go back about my business. Alternatively, I can have the same fun experience without grinding or farming. I can just plod along and play at my speed (which is three levels below n00b) and still have a good time. That's what I like about AE - I don't NEED to be a maniac to still have a good experience.

edit - darn it, tigura!!! :(
