This guide will be made from the bottom up. If any errors please do note them or message me about them. I don't know IF I can finish this but I will try owo

The General Introduction

'Ello and welcome to the Team Brawl PvP guide! Here you will learn what Team Brawl is, what it consists of, tips and tricks for basic to advanced classes and what rewards await you! First off, let us discuss what team Brawl is.

What is Team Brawl?

Team Brawls are large, 8 on 8 player matches. The main objective is to defeat the other team's NPCs and ultimately defeat the Captain to win the match. Sometimes, you'll meet players who are in PvP large maps for the chaos that happens! Brawls can be quite chaotic when anywhere from 2 on 1 can happen or the whole team gets you!

Drakath approves of the Chaos in Team Brawls!

You mean not everyone is there to win?

Of course not! Team brawls are very different and have many unique players and people in them. These are the types you can expect to find:

The strategist(s): These are the people who try to communicate where you should go, what you should do, call for help/a heal and so on. They like to see themselves as a leader or try and help win, but it is ultimately up to you if you wish to do what they say or not.

The Common PvPer: The most common person in the list. They have no concern of winning or losing and are only there to hunt down other players. There are usually quite a lot of these people but even so, that is a good thing so you can focus more on what YOU like to do!

The AFK: These are the people who sit down in the waiting room, either hoping they win some trophies for doing nothing to contribute or they forgot they have the tab open... But recently, updates and changes to the PvP system made it so these types of players (Intentional afk or not) do not receive a final prize, so don't mind them if they forget to do their share!

In It to Win It: These are the players who entered the brawl and try to make sure and their very best that their team wins. Generally, they will avoid players if possible and go for NPCs instead. May seem harmless at first, but their impact on the overall match is always a game changer!

*The "Sliders": The sliders are groups of very experienced, sometimes older/veteran PvPers who standing around whacking doesn't quite do it for them and to up the challenge, they take advantage of running around the space on the maps attacking and avoiding your auto attack. There is always debate about these types of players and if what they do is "cheating" but it is indeed fair game. All's fair in love and war and a brawl is definitely war!

*"Sliding" does not work on NPCs/Monsters. NPCs/Monsters always have a followed Auto Attack.

Different types of Team Brawl

There are currently 3 different maps all set up for Team Brawl. There is Bludrut Brawl, Frost Brawl and Chaos Brawl. There was also a Darkovia Brawl, which was much smaller, but is rare now. All of these will be discussed individually as a whole for you to know more!

"The Captains are tough! How do we beat them if we want to win?"

To defeat a Captain of the opposite team, what you need to do is destroy the supports (Brawlers/Restorers) around in different areas in the maps. What that means is you need to go into enemy territory and defeat the Restorers and Brawlers on their side to weaken their Captain.

Typically in each Team Brawl match, there are four Restorers and Three Brawlers.

To even have a good chance at our Captains, you have to go through US first!

"How do defeating the Brawlers and Restorers weaken the Captain?"

For each Restorer defeated, the Captain gains less healing ability.
For each Brawler defeated, the Captain's attacks are weaker.

"I notice a red and blue bar on the top of my screen. What is it? What happens when it reaches 1000/1000?"

Those two bars are the scoreboard. Each team match is always up to 1000. First team to reach 1000 points win. Although sometimes, a game can end in a tie if both teams end up with over 1000 points before the game is done.

This is how the scoreboard will look like.

The way to get points are as followed:

  • For one Player defeated, 10 points are given to your Team.
  • For one Brawler defeated, 15 points every 12 seconds.
  • For one Restorer defeated, 5 points every 12 seconds.
  • For defeating the other team's Captain, you automatically win the game no matter what the score is.

Generally, the more NPCs you defeat, the more your points will rack up. Now lets move onto multiple enemies defeated.

Brawlers:

  • Two Brawlers defeated will give you 25 points every 12 seconds
  • All Three Brawlers defeated will give you 40 points every 12 second

Restorers:

  • Two Restorers defeated will give you 15 points every 12 seconds.
  • Three Restorers defeated will give you 20 points every 12 seconds.
  • All Four Restorers defeated will give you 25 points every 12 seconds.

Now that we have learned the basics, let us continue on the different areas of Team Brawls.

Posting as a WIP. Feel free to share your thoughts, ideas and anything else you have in mind!

Darkovia Brawl

Darkovia Brawl was a small brawl map that was open in April 17th, 2010 and went rare on August 6th, 2010. Unlike the rest of the Brawl Maps we see today, this one was a small, 6 player limit, 3 on 3 brawl map with Enemy/Friendly NPCs in almost every screen except for the starting room screens. This map also had Vampire Ghouls and War Lycans acting as today's Restorers and Vampire Knights and Lycan Knights as today's Captains.

Errr, not the "Knight In Shining Armor" everyone had in mind...

What is also unique about this map was unlike where you need to be in your starting room to rest and heal up, the map here had a 5 second non combat idle wait. What that means is, if you were not fighting for more than 5 seconds, you could rest and heal up without having to go back into your starting rooms. The scores were much different as well since each enemy respawned and and defeated again for more points, people could just whack and whack NPCs until they won. The Enemy Knights also gave 100 points per kill as well as a small bonus every 12 seconds.

Also, it would be nice to know enemy NPCs also respawned in this map unlike today where once a Restorer or Brawler was defeated, they remained defeated until the end of the match and you joined a new game.

Rest is good for the soul. And the smashing.

"Were there any rewards here? What was awarded if your team won?"

Yes there were! This area's main brawl prize were the Werepyre slayer gear. The Werepyre Slayer set consisted of 4 items.

"Will the map ever come back?"

I don't know. No one knows for sure. Usually, that's up for the Devs to decide. I say it's best to not to hold your breath though.

Bludrut Brawl

What Is Bludrut Brawl?

Bludrut Brawl, one of the most common and most used Team Brawl Map in game. It's a large map with 16 rooms (Including both team start rooms). Both teams have the same amount of Brawlers and Restorers, which are 2 Brawlers and 4 Restorers and of course the one Captain. Doorways and walls will be in the color of your team to show which side of the map "Belongs to your team" (AKA: Where your Brawlers, Restorers and Captain is).

There are 2 "Neutral" rooms which are located in the center of the map (Free of any enemy or friendly NPCs. This will be shown by their grey-ish, neutral looking wall color) and are generally used for those "fair, One on One" fights without any risk of AoE attacks reaching enemy NPCs. However, in a Team Brawl, a One on One is somewhat rare as it's Team Brawl, not single 1 on 1.. Those are usually made in advance/before the Brawl has started, but sometimes, your team is just Itching to help you out if you're losing.

How do I get to Bludrut Brawl?

As you may have noticed, Bludrut Brawl is not joinable via the /join command. So how can you join in on the fun? Easy! Just follow these simple steps

1) First, Open up your Dragon Menu and click/select "More Adventures"

2)Once you do that, select/click on "Player Vs Player"

3) You'll be then taken to the PVP related menu. Once you are, you should see the "Join Bludrut Brawl, 8 vs 8". Click on it.

Once you do, you should see that under your Character bubble, you're queued for Bludrut Brawl!

After awhile of waiting, you might see this message appear! Just hit "Yes" and off you go into the Brawl!

Crush your enemies before they crush YOU!

How long do I need to wait to be able to join?

Good question! The Time a full brawl is ready depends on what server you're on most of the time or where you are. If you're on a server with a low amount of people and there doesn't seem to be much going on, chances are you'll be waiting awhile.
If you were to take a high populated server, chances are waiting time would be much shorter.

It also depends on if you can find a PvP group or a group of players who specifcally want to do Bludrut Brawl if you're on lower player servers. Wait times can all vary on things like that.

If you still have troubles finding enough people you can always use the "=AQW= Let's Party! Thread" which can be found on the AQW General Discussion found here.

A few facts to know:

  • Only your team will see your chat.
  • You can't PM or talk to an enemy player.
  • You can't /goto players here.
  • You can only /rest on your starting screen.
  • Players outside the PvP can't /goto anyone in this map
  • You can't change any of your equipment during the match, so choose wisely before you enter!
  • You can't /invite enemy players or players outside of PvP.

Just a thought: You should mention somewhere the importance of computer performance.
The ability to hop between rooms quickly and maintain a decent frame-rate in combat are huge in brawls.
Your sliding and targeting skills can only take you so far.

I look forward to further developments.

The imposed completion deadline has expired, and no significant changes have been made. As outlined by the =AQW= Pending Guides Forum Rules, this guide is now subject to being locked.

The guide topic has been added to the =AQW= Guide Vacancies thread for anyone interested in taking over the guide.
