So what would increase the diversity?
Some skills (especially free costing ones) are too good so almost everyone maxes them.

My idea to increase diversity would be when you upgrade the skill it has 2 effects instead of just increasing the amount of energy given per use.
Upgrading it would decrease its CD but also DECREASE the energy given
If it doesn't decrease the CD it stays the way it used to and just increases the energy given

E.g. Battery backup

E.g. at level 1 it could give the most energy but have a cooldown of 7
while at level 10 it would give the least energy but have the cooldown of 2

(IMO this should only be done to
Batter backup, static charge (CH energy gaining move) Field medic & ultimates (If it the energy cost is Lowered for higher level ultimates) Maby: static smash, static grenade & EMP)

STR focused builds will be less affected by this since they don't rely heavily on Energy for easy damage.

You have a point there with current balance.
This is just an idea.
I think the energy we start with should be lowered and get improved more by 1 point investment.
So the str abusers won't be able to focus so much on strength as they will miss out on eather defenses or on health becoming easier to kill.

Also IMO assim. shouldn't get improved by anything and level cap at level 10 should steal 70 and drain 140.
static charge should deal constant damage and shouldn't be affected by strength.

Also strength progression should be nerfed a little bit obv.

I am pretty sure the old one had -100 EP drain and +50 EP return (on x10 system). This would be minimal improvement from the old one, and the old one was seriously underpowered and underused, due to how weak it was. Not necessarily for the EP return, but the drain was pitiful.

Only difference was, I don't think it used to deal damage. Forgot actually... So if you want the old values (but minimum buff), give it 100% damage again - not 85%. But then deal with the people who say it's underpowered, because it'd seriously be underpowered. It was underused in the day, and not really practical - and EP was scarce back then, due to not everyone having ways to drain/return it.

@Trans
When it first came out Yes but I am pretty shore in late delta when you were level Cap it drained 120 & gave back 60 (in the new system)
Scince there is a lvl 40 now... It would get a bit of a buff & Obv. I'd like it to be back to 100% as it originally was.
But with this the CD would have to be put back to 3.

I still used assim when it first came out, the -2 or -3 energy was enough to throw off someone when they had carefully planned their energy.

@ edward

As did I the only issue I had with it back then was in fact if it was blockable. Problem with it now is there is Piston punch, Generator as well as other stronger gainer/drainers that would put the old assimilation to shame.

Sure Energy gain wouldn't be an issue, but energy draining would be the problem here.
