We've had a taste of the new War, in the Dread Plains. Few bugs at first, which have slowed Legion down and gave Exiles quite an advantage, resulting in Exiles winning. Rest assured, there's handful of other regions, where the Legion (Legionnaires?) can get back at Exiles.

Plenty of features from previous Wars have been returned too. Bombs have been returned as drops, but also in small quantities at the War Depot. Although, having buyable bombs gives the impression that all you need to fight is money, just like in the real wars, where money can get you more and give you an advantage. Might be unfair on those who work hard, or perhaps it is. It's opinionated.

Then there are Bombs giving you Influence, instead of PvP. It also gives factions a massive advantage, especially ones with Varium. PvP gives no Influence, so it's all about the Bombs. This turns the War (not the game) into P2W one, although, linking to the above paragraph, it somewhat makes sense.

And lastly, scalable Turrets, which spice up the gameplay. Different effects at different HP, and targetting a specific one may result in a big advantage later on in the War. Albeit simple to know which one to attack, not everyone is aware*, and the opposite alignment may also do the same and stop you from doing what you want to do.

Done with the facts. Now onto some opinions / feedback.

  • Do you prefer War 2.0 over 1.0?
    • No Influence from battles, but the Bombs only.
    • Slightly less focused on PvP, for higher Influence gain, thanks to Bombs. (easier to upgrade the Regional cheevos).

  • Does the War need a bigger incentive, than the current rewards? (10K Credits, 10 Arcade Tokens, Physical/Energy Battlegear)
    • More missions, to give this War a purpose.
    • More rewards to choose from. (such as?)
    • Exclusive alignment rewards that no one can get. (small part of the map, etc.).

  • Should there be an alternative to PvP, to get Bombs? (apart from Varium)
    • NPCs around your level, which could drop Bombs at a lower rate (than 1v1) as long as you get rewards from them (to prevent abuse of low level NPCs).
    • Having special Turrets that could use Credits directly - not Varium - to deal (consistent) damage to the Shield, and vice versa - just like the old Turrets did before they were removed from ED.

  • Should PvP get more emphasis, over buying your way through?
    • Bringing Influence back to PvP, which slightly devalues buying Bombs with Varium and paying your way to the top.
    • Having two LBs, one for Bombs and other for pure PvP - so players won't, again, buy their way to the top (and War Hero exclusive to PvP LB only).
    • PvP Influence could be boosted, due to being in the War period and naturally granting more Influence.

  • Anything else you want to add?
    • You do not need to follow these questions. They are just to start off the discussion.

    * There could be more War Tutorials. Players would know if they read the descriptions properly, but some don't bother. Forced tutorial, like at the beginning of the game, could fix this.

Well, I would've played a lot more if they had've added a bunch of war missions. One of my concerns was how repetitive the war was. Like, they could've added a 2v1 boss that gives us exp, credits, and a few bombs for killing him (or something different like that), to spice it up a bit.

The rewards were not very good. The weapons were okay, but it would be more of a reward for them to be fully upgradeable for 100 credits. After all that hard work in the war, I think they could've given us a bit more than what they did. The credits reward should be like 15k instead, and the arcade tokens were not worth it IMO because you are most likely not going to get a fitting reward out of them.

I don't just want to complain about the rewards, so I will make a few suggestions for the next set of rewards.
•Guaranteed Gold Prize ticket for arcade, or pick any item from the arcade.
    •15,000 credits instead of 10.
    •Maybe 1000 varium?
•You should have a credit option to buy the weapons.
    •Free
    Name Change
    •A cool looking bike
    •10 free legendary unlocks
•10 Staff selected hairstyles for free

Rewards should scale based on Influence IMO . The current system's abusable simply because the least effort you made equates to eveyone else's full force effort . Earlier today , i logged my level 34 Tech Mage character on . He's Exile and i simply had less than 300 Influence on him , compared to my ,on the Legion side , Merc and Bounty's more than 2k ( but still i don't really care that much about wars be it win or lose ) . All the other Exile players sure did all the work for me XD

They should have at least scaled the weapon to your level or upgraded it to level 40 it doesn't really feel or look special. That was a very long war, at least don't make us spend creds/var to upgrade the reward.

It only costs half as much as a regular item to fully upgrade I think. But I'm disappointed there wasn't even a cutscene. I wanted to know about 'Project Resurrection'

I checked it, it costs just as much as any other weapon to enhance it. It should come leveled up to level 40 for it to be a worthwhile war reward.

due to my dissapoinment with the reward, i sold it immediately as soon as i knew it doesn't have any cores in it. If only i knew it earlier, i should have gotten the 10k credits. *facepalm**

War was meaningless due to buyable bombs. Next one might have some meaning if bombs are not buyable.
The lost sales from player opinion and numbers outweighs the additional sales from pay2win. The problem is that this game has been stigmatized so hard by other gaming communities that people tend to either not know about the game, or refuse to play it regardless of whether or not pay2win is removed in the future.

I sure hope NPCs are more influenced in the next one ( seriously the War plots feels like a all-around-the-world-trip ) . It didn't use the Infernal Infiltration concept and it's basically Frysteland War all over again.

I personally think that this war was pretty much a success. The fact that people could buy the bombs did bother me a bit, but you guys gotta acknowledge that they are a company, and therefore they need to do stuff like that at least a little. Plus, they aren't half as bad about it as some gaming companies are.
Also, the major success was to give the overall influence less of a value. That way, it is overall less about individual factions and more about alignment, which is a crucial key to the war story-wise. However, I do agree that a cutscene would have made it a lot more interesting.
And as for what to do next time, I'd say the only crucial thing is to give a little more story to the next one, and perhaps not make the bombs buyable, or at the very least make them a lot more expensive, so that it will not be overused.

While that is true the level of pay to win with this war is even greater then that of the frostland war. In each war you could by influence by buying bombs. However unlike the Infernal and frostland wars you could still get influence by Battle be it PVE (Frostland) PVP (Infernal) Or both (Infernal)

When the core factor of the game is PVP battle or battling period making a war where you don't have to do so to battle in it as long as you are filthy rich (Meaning have tons of varium) Sends out the wrong message to the players.

IIRC the staff originally removed Warlord and the war cannons a while back because those were pay to win and they said they wanted to remove that from the game. Yet here they did it here not only with the war 2.0 But they also turned World Domination and War hero into 2 pay to win cheevos as well.

Pretty much sums up some of my points.

    The others:
    - not much intention to participate in general in the war, or even the game itself
-> no influence for fights, so if you already have high ranks in your achievements, you can just sit back
-> just 150 influence needed to unlock the treasure (in case your alignment wins), again just lean back
-> in between 2 wars there is also no influence gain
All you can do between wars is collect credits and xp, which is probably not enough appealing to enough players, to keep PvP alive.

Wishes for the future would be:
    - while 1 regions gets battled for (respectively only in the cooldown period between 2 wars) the other regions are still in the old War 1.0 state
-> attracting more players to gaming
-> Dread Plains (respectively all "won" regions) would of course not be influencable anymore
    - leveled treasures = the more influence you gain the more you unlock
-> also add more treasure options to choose from in general, just some examples:
--> (skill cores, either already existing non-uniques or new ones that will be unique, or new ones that will be available for public purchase 2 months later)
--> (guns and auxes, either region themed, or some of the existing ones = not necessarily uniques)
--> (the more influence you gained, the better the specific treasure, i.e. 5k credits for 150 infl. 10k credits for 1000 infl. 15k credits for 3000 infl. 20k credits for 7000, or unleveled weapon at 150 infl. reduced upgrade-cost weapon at 3000 infl. fully lvled weapon for 8000 infl. )

    [edit]
Also, some cutscene at the end of the wars would be nice. Changes to the region too (the main obejective of the winning aligment repaired fully, enemy aligned NPCs gone/at the "outskirts" of the region, war damage at the ground, just some ideas). At the moment this feels "uncomplete".

I loved the war but I did not appreciate the lack of credits that was awarded, and the removal of the old influence system.

--I would have rather preferred them to let the bombs destroy turrets only and to keep the old influence gain but increase it by 5 points. I mean, some people spent 30k creds on war commanders only to be rewarded with 10k credits. Does not add up to me and I think that could have used a bit more thought.

--I did not like the low amount of influence you had to get to access the war chest. 150 influence was mainly only 4 bombs.

--And I did not appreciate the fact that you could buy bombs to add on to influence. I would have preferred that bombs do not give influence but the more you buy the higher rating cheevo you get.

--Lastly I was not a fan of everyones ability to get the same prize. Prizes should be decided on the amount of influence you got. Each war is about a month long, I am pretty sure everyone should be able to get 1200 inf by the end of the war. Afterall, 1200 inf by the end of the war is simply 1 bomb a day.

Overall though, I loved the idea and features in the war! I prefer it over 1.0 and I cant wait for the next region! Good job staff!

I agree with Ragesoul that there needs to be scaling of rewards so people who put in more effort get better rewards instead of people who do 4-5 wins for the war getting the same as people who have done thousands or spent thousands of dollars on the war. Also yes i agree there should be a wider variety of prizes for the winners plus the losers should be able to get the prises for credits not just varium. Plus major prizes for the Top faction and player of both alignments exile and legion.

    I don't like it.

Features were never a problem to me for this game. All I ever wanted was a way to kill a little bit of time without getting a headache. This game should be simple and pure. Kill the other guy as quick as possible.
All the rest do not matter.

You want a rich in-game immersion with nice story and incredible graphics ? Then buy a PS4 or Xbox one. Browser games need to be kept simple and be played for 10-15 minutes.. Then we move on with our day.

This game is fun if played for a short period of time.
But with leaderboards and achievement prizes for kids spending their entire free time (or even school or sleep time) on a game that was never designed for this, the developers are actually hurting the game.
This game is way too repetitive to be played that way.

as a legion player which we are few in numbs, legion again will lose this war 5--1 because so many legion players do not play any more or they jumped ship an went to exile side., this war will an cannot be fair to legion again. exile out numbs 5--1 . they will see again how the war will get boring an lost of players again..

the last 3 wars went to exile.

1st reason it went to long got boring you can ask a lot of players and if they tell the truth they will say after 7 0r 8 days the war gets boring.

2nd reason exile out numbs legion 5--1.

3rd reason the prizes that legion could buy lol, we could not even get a % of the credits or tokens if we used varium to buy the sad war chest. like legion got left overs.

4th reason well you all know it . ( titan said on the live stream quote the losing side could get some of the credits and tokens by using varium along with weapons ( he got the weapons right only )

    always the syfy

my thoughts on this very sore subject.

It would make things easier if everyone would join the exiles. I know from other games that such
alignment wars dont work for a long time as people start to swap soon to the winning side.
In AQ nearly everyone changed to the wind and fire clans in just a few months and there was
8 or 10 elemental clans when I did play it some years ago.

In ED the alignment system only works (partially) because new players have to choose an
alignment before they know about the game. They should be pretty much a balance of
50% Legion and 50% Exile characters. So basically its only the advanced players that can afford
the expensive alignment change and alternative characters that make the difference in
    alignment wars.

It is grotesque that the war meters do get manipulated by the devs to compensate this a bit
as its clear to experienced players that such war systems are a fail. I think it would help
if the winning side wont get rewarded more than the loosing side as this is the motivation for
players to change their character alignments. As Artix Entertainment is earning money with
alignment swaps I don´t think that this will get changed. Im pretty sure that this also is the reason
why we don´t see good balance changes since so many months. So AE has to make a decision
sooner or later if they want to continue the way with the etablished system that is based on unfairnes
and power differences since many years to animate players to buy class and alignment changes or
if they want to to change their bussiness strategy which could lead to a new rise of EpicDuel.

Atm its just a pretty unpopular game with a small community where players start to have trouble
to find 2vs2 and even 1vs1 matches for their characters. Frankly I think that I would quit this
game pretty fast if I would be a new player. The very high player losses proof that.
Maybe this is common in today´s gaming industry but I remember that it was better in the past for
ED so it should be time to analyze why players leave the game and make decisions and changes to
counter that. For old players its sad to see this game dying more and more and that most good
adviced just get ignored by the devs by giving absolutely no feedback and that unconstructive
criticism does get deleted from the forums because it is against the rules and that players get warned
or even banned. This basically is censorship by law to hide game defects. Even unconstructive
criticism can be used for analytics and is just a symptom that has its reasons in game mechanics and
    politics.
