I'm trying to connect to #Battleon. I've always used caelestia.net in the past but the site appears to be down. Is this temporary or permanent? If it's permanent, could someone please give me some instructions to connect to #Battleon? Thanks.

Try using Mibbit -
- Go to http://client01.chat.mibbit.com/#lab@irc.caelestia.net
- Type in a Name, hit Go.
- Once connected, type the first command if you want to register (I assume you've been there already) or second command to sign in:
/ns REGISTER <password> <email>

/ns identify <password>

- Once logged in, type in:
/join #battleon

Also, if this is what you're looking for, this is Caelestia's webapp that used to be on Caelestia.net - http://www.caelestia.net/caelirc/chatapp.php

I tried both. Caelestia's webapp comes up with the error message "Your security settings have blocked a self-signed application from running" and I can't get it to work. I followed the instructions on Mibbit, but #battleon appears deserted except for me. All the times I've gone there it's never had no one else on it. I'm guessing something's wrong and I'm not connected to the right channel?

You're in the right place if you can see the user list with some familiar AE names on the right hand side - https://i.imgur.com/nW20hNJ.png
Quoting from another thread about the speed of the chat:

quote:

IRC is generally quiet, usually people just have it on in the background and so replies are slow, but they do come eventually. Depending on what game you play, the official channels are probably not the fastest channels that exist in terms of chat volume. I can try and dig around for channels to recommend depending on what games you play.

Right, that's what I thought. I see nothing! (Except my own nick.)

If you're going into #battleon and seeing nobody, that means you've connected to a different server. Here's all the other possible web options you can use:

http://widget02.mibbit.com/?settings=da76cd3fc82863f5e06b4b8be142813c&server=irc.caelestia.net&channel=%23lab&nick=
- Type in your nickname.
- Click Connect.
- Log in by using /ns identify <password> or register using /ns REGISTER <password> <email>
- Once you've successfully done this, type in the chatbox: /join #battleon

https://client00.chat.mibbit.com/
- Click 'Server.' Type in on the Server field that appears: irc.caelestia.net
- Type your Nickname in the Nick field.
- Leave the Channel field blank.
- Connect
- Log in by using /ns identify <password> or register using /ns REGISTER <password> <email>
- Once you've successfully done this, type in the chatbox: /join #battleon

http://www.artix.com/Pages/Chat
- Type in a nickname. Leave the channel field as is.
- Password field doesn't work, so if you're registered, putting in a password does nothing.
- Click Start.
- Log in by using /ns identify <password> or register using /ns REGISTER <password> <email>
- Once you've successfully done this, type in the chatbox: /join #battleon

If, after trying all of these and absolutely nothing works, I'm out of options for you in terms of connecting through your browser. This is every single way I know how to get to IRC without downloading a client. Hopefully at least one of them works, good luck!

Concerning this; It's a something I've encountered with Java this year, essentially your security settings for the program are too high. You can open the Java control panel, find security settings tab, and change the security to a lower setting. That should fix this in my experience. Hope this helps
