"I always used to think of myself as a man of peace.
"I lived a relatively simple life; I grew up as the oldest child of a large family of craftsmen, and, as a result, I was expected to take up my father's trade: leatherworking. As his apprentice, I learned quite a bit of the trade in my childhood, and, when he saw me as a man, I was fully prepared to continue in his footsteps. My masterwork was a suit of leather armor, crafted for a newly promoted guard captain in town, and he reportedly wore it with pride and on a daily basis, due mostly to how comfortable it was compared to all the other armor he had ever worn.
"Ten years back was when I met my wife, Lelian. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever laid eyes upon, and, though I was thicker than the leather I worked at times, I eventually realized she was interested in getting to know me. Our courtship lasted eight months, then we were wed, a year to the day from when we first met. A year after that, my son Edmund was born...
"I just wish that he wasn't born into this world. A month ago, while I was delivering a cloak to a hunter a few towns over, my home town was destroyed. Some say by the Elemental Fiends, some by invaders from a foreign town or nation, and some say by the Crusaders. I've never learned the actual source of the attack, but the results were devastating. Everyone I had ever known was slain, and, when I returned, and saw the remains of my home being picked over by scavengers, I lost myself to my rage. I pulled out my knife and went absolutely berserk, killing any unlucky enough to have been seen by me. When I came to, I found myself drenched in blood, surrounded by the bodies of both my long-time friends and those who were picking through the rubble to take anything of value... and I cried, both for what I had lost and what I had done.
"I always used to think of myself as a man of peace... But my peace was taken from me. All that remains for me now is vengeance in my heart and the armor I picked off of one of the looters... the very same armor I crafted all those years ago."
