 UPDATE:
Past Members
All expired HeroSmash members have been given permanent active member status!
Your HeroSmash game account membership has been extended by +50 more years.


This was the original plan before the changes were made on Monday, and I apologize for overlooking this important part of the change.

just a little thought here, but by the time 50 years are over most who got the membership boost will be dead or to old to be able to play any video game for that long without getting a headache.

 I was told to set the expire date to the year 3000.
The database didn't like that, so adding 50 years was close enough.

And if HeroSmash somehow lasts 50 more years, we our floating brain jars will increase the date another 50 years!!!

 @Capt Just curious about one thing. What about Founders? IIRC, you didn't need to buy membership to become a Founder, and it's possible that some Founders may never have been members at all. Will they be included as "past members" and be included in the 50 year boost even if they didn't buy membership at any point? Or will Founders be getting something extra to commemorate their early investment into the game?

 I still believe that there could have been advance warning given before pulling the plug on HS subscriptions. But what's done is done. I hope this paring down of payments doesn't spell an imminent end of the game.

Looks like AQW Founders receive more attention than HS Founders in HeroSmash.

So, I log into Herosmash and actually play and find out I have membership again! HA! I love being
able to use some of my member items again, like my Dark Killer's Cowl or my Twisted Paint!
I think the new update may be enough to bring me back for a bit and catch up with old friends.

The only thing I see as a bit unfair is that now Non-Members will never be able to get member items,
unless a SC version is made for every member item (which appears as if they've done that with most
seasonal rares).

Well it's nice incentive for me to give the game another play through. Getting nostalgic, gotta have to relearn how my skill build works. XD

This is the route most games take before shutting down. I have seen two in less than a year do something like this before they closed.

I have a problem. When I actually try to buy member stuff it says:
"Your membership expired on Sun Jan 14 2063"
And I can't buy it e.e

If you are a member and your name is white and you cannot equip member items, all you need to do is log out and then log back in.

That seems like a very weird bug. Try clearing your cache on a non-AE site then relogging on HeroSmash and seeing if you can equip member items again.

If it doesn't fix your issue then you should use the AE Bug Tracker.

BTW the bugtracker is always on the bottom of the page you play any AE game by all the links such as Forums, Homepage etc.

wait so now all member items are rare for non members? Since members are getting loads of free SCs, surely to make it fair for everyone, all member items could just become SC?

Unfortunately for you, I don't believe that will be the case. Also, if they did that, then why make previous members members again?
And not all members got loads of SC, only current members at the time, see as a previous member, I only got my membership back, no extra SCs.

well you already got what you paid for without infinite membership, and SCs compensate for people who still have extra months of membership left. And anyway, if they had advertised this 50 year thing before it happened, i would have probably bought membership, and many others also...

Make sure you had membership(including VIP membership) left before July 7th because if you did not then you are not eligible for the promotional SCs. BTW if you ever payed for membership then you gained 50 free years of membership but that does not count towards the free SCs.
