Necro, could I get some clarification on the skeleton? It appears Rowan has some manner of control over the construct still, due to the continuing connection to himself. Either that, or it is siphoning power from him to remain in existence.

Basically, I need to know if it's alright for Kriege to smash the thing, or if you're going to be controlling it as a separate entity, and thus it is protected by rules relating to bunnying. I'm thinking its the former, since it is noted in your post the skeleton isn't a summon, but I want to verify the facts.

Edit: Spoke with Necro on IRC earlier, cleared some things up. Post is drafted, just need to get some details sorted.

A bit later than I'd intended, but nonetheless I did promise a cut tonight, and a cut you shall have. After reading through everything that's been posted thus far in the Finals Arena thread, the primary factors which have led me to my decision are grammatical issues and an overall problem with post flow and structure. That said, I do feel somewhat bad about making this decision, given that the person was thrust into this event unexpectedly. However, such an entry does not remove them from scrutiny.

The flowers dotting the Pillar of Earth divest themselves in unison, the tree's branches bowing ever so slightly. tommy2468, it is with the utmost regret that I must announce that you have been cut. Should you wish to retreat, a gate will appear on the wall behind the Earth Pillar and will transport you and you alone out of the arena.

The next cut (barring idle) will fall on the evening of Friday, September 19th.

Waiting on Kell, who agreed to take a look at my post, but I'm afraid work is calling me in so my time availible is swiftly dwindling. I may have to post without his lookover for polish...we shall see.

General update, though! I will be travelling Thursday through Sunday! I should have some form of access to the internet, and therefore shouldn't need to ask for an extension, HOWEVER this WILL wind up limiting my access for collab or answering questions. If you need a prompt reply after tonight, and I am not around, feel free to ask Kell or Ryu. They know me well enough such that I feel comfortable allowing bunny right or so forth of my character based on their interpretations if needs must. I'll just work with it.

Now posting itself...well, writing shouldn't be a problem. Posting might. So if I get someone to post my writing in lieu of account access, don't be TOO shocked about that either.

EDIT: Posted. Must now flee to work. Will do a summary of important actions in an OOC post later. Hint: Not too much ACTUALLY happened, the woes of being tiny and movement taking appreciable amounts of time instead of negligible amounts.

EDIT 2: First off, I'd like to thank Apoc for waiting on me. Much obliged. Seriously. Second, what happened of importance in that post? Not all that much! The ferret hopped off its blade-perch, moved in a vague arc to its left towards the Energy Pillar, and has set itself up in a flanking position of the Connor-Kriege fracas forming up. More behind Connor than to the direct side of either, in terms of flank, and close enough to be able to assault either with a mentioned preference in intention in the post.

Don't forget, ferrets are SMALL critters, and sand really isn't their friend all that much. Yeah, everyone has seen a squirrel sprint away from a person/dog/cat/<insert threat here>, but that's on hard ground and really short distances all things considered. For it to travel the same distance as most other competitors ought to, and I hope the portrayal does, take a much longer time than any of you bipeds. Even Kriege standing two-legged can probably outpace the ferret, though the ferret will certainly accelerate much faster.

I have an announcement! I'm writing my post right now, I know, I'm late, don't be mad. Announcement first.

Some of you know I got married in April. Well, now I'm going to have a baby! Not, like, right now, but soon. Eventually. In the spring. (Congratulations may be sent via PM or on IRC, so that this thread does not get cluttered.)

The main reason I am announcing this is because babies make people sick. And tired. And writing is hard when you're sick and tired. T.T I'm going to work on posting lots and regularly, but if I end up pulling out, that's why. So don't be worried. ^_^

Got class and what-not today, so post will up closer to the deadline than I'd like.

@Ronin: Don't you mean your character is arcing right? Kell's approved drawing of the arena has the Pillar of Energy to the right of Light's pillar. I'm going to go by Kell's drawing and say F.E.R.R.E.T. is coming in from the left (since, you know, the intent is to ambush the bandit and the bear).

Sorry for not having an exit post ready, been incredibly busy the past few days. I was just going to have the explosive fireball that Makelyth sent throwing Nod off her feet and back to the portal, where she sees the open gate and crawls through to survive.

Yeah, sorry I'd write a long post about her leaving but I broke a few fingers yesterday, which makes typing difficult.

Basically as soon as she gets hit by your explosion, she flies backwards, lands by the Earth portal and sees that it has opened and crawls through it in shame.

Looking forward to see everyone's posts! :)

Two points of clarification in my last post:

@Necro: Connor is trying to shoot Rowan right before the Death Knight attacks the bear, hopefully so that the former will collide into the latter and cause issues (your discretion, of course, as to whether or not you'd think the bullet would cause that to happen).

@Ronin: The shot fired is a storm shot, meaning it has tendrils in a two foot radius around the bullet (the tendrils are as thin as blades of grass). Contact with a single tendril causes the entire charge of the bullet to be transferred to whatever touched it. Just an FYI as I did not specify the properties of the bullet, and you haven't fought against Connor before.

Also, revising a post on your phone sucks. Do not recommend.

I mean, it's a totally valid way to deal with Connor's stupidity. Would be surprising if Kriege didn't handle it that way.

Edit: Waiting on Necro, Ronin, and jer to post. Just PMed Ryu asking for an extension should they not post by the time of my deadline tonight. (Don't want to go on around knocking competitors out without permission, though hopefully they'll post before then).

Firstly, my profuse apologies for this being delayed in such a fashion - I had a commitment which occupied my time from 7am yesterday until nearly 2am this morning, and by that point was in no condition to post at all. That said, I should have striven to get this out when it was originally scheduled, and for that, I hope that you will accept my apology. Now, moving on to the business at hand. Given the nature of what's occurred (and why I suspect people haven't been posting), I'm going to create a 30 hour amnesty on idle time. Effectively, add that to your current idle timer, so you'll have a little over an extra day to make up for this.

Now, the cut. This was a decision where I agonized between two individuals in particular, considering their strengths and weaknesses and carefully re-reading each of their posts several times before I was able to come to a satisfying conclusion. The reason why my choice is being cut is, ultimately, a result of post flow and the occasional penchant for awkward phrasing. While these are altogether minor details, they have come to matter a lot in this particular situation.

The Pillar of Water sputters and with one last guffaw, vanishes into the ether, the air still so saturated with moisture that a cascade of slowly descending droplets could be seen. blankmaskara, it is with regret that I must announce that you have been cut. Should you wish to retreat, a gate will appear on the wall behind the Water Pillar and will transport you and you alone out of the arena. Oh, and you're also free to fix the formatting error which you mentioned earlier.

Given how the schedule has been somewhat upset, the next cut shall occur on the Eve of Wednesday, September 24th.

What I just posted in the IC is the post which Ronin sent me yesterday before his idle timer. Below you'll find the accompanying OOC post that he attached with it, courtesy of his medium of communication in this particular situation - me.

So, this post was extremely difficult to even try to write while traveling. As you can see, I emailed the doc containing the post to a few folks with Ryu's permission, such that someone might post it sooner than later. Even so, my original window to try and write it wound up not happening, which led to a scare for me because I really did not want to slowdown the competition through the need of an extension. It is currently a bit after 3 pm EDT as I send this to potential posters, so I did in fact beat my idle timer. Thank goodness.

Treatment of the storm shot was not done solely by personal interpretation of the bio description, but rather came after discussing with Ryu directly in lieu of means of communicating withApoc directly. I apologize if that is not what you intended, but as written, this felt like a proper and valid means of handling the storm shot.

As for the laser? Again, the abilities of the F.E.R.R.E.T. are extremely limited in terms of damage potential at any range beyond up close and personal, no matter the range inherent thanks to the speed of light. I would have loved to take more time to describe the effect more cinematically...heck, I even feel it was weak on the technical standpoint of presentation...but I simply do not have the time to do so. Nor time to even get a peer review look over by anyone, which really grates against my preferences. Anyway, if there are questions, feel free to ask via ooc or via irc. I may not be too availible until I return home from travels late Sunday night, but I will try to check in regularly. That, and at minimum, Kell has my cell and can text me if it winds up time-crucial, though reception where I am is horrible. Still, I am providing everything that I can!
