Frozen Fury MMO Mega Event
The Biological Preserve Has Fallen!
The Legion forces managed to claim another victory, this time in the Biological Preserve! Can the Legion keep this winning streak going into the next region (yet to be determined).

The Corrupted Tree is cleansed and the Legion have already staked a claim. What will they be able to accomplish with the Corruption Spores in their possession?

Be sure to claim your War Prize: The Armor Hazard Husk! The claim button won't available as long as it normally is due to the upcoming Winter event!

It doesn't make my butt look big does it? It's the chitinous shell, isn't it?

Power Weekend
Since the war is over (for now), and there's no scheduled release this week, we're rewarding everyone with a well-deserved weekend of double experience and credits!

You'd better stock up, because you'll need all you can get for the upcoming Frozen Fury event, with the kind challenges and rewards scarcely scene in a browser MMO!

Frozen Fury
Welcome to Frysteland yet again...or should I say *yeti* agai...I'll show myself out...

Just kidding! It'll take more than a lame pun to get rid of me!
Back on point, Alydriah is up to something in the frozen northlands of Delta V again, but this time it involves invoking the otherworldly power of the Krampus avatar of the Void, The Endless. Edgar Boothe wants to believe there is still good in Alydriah's metallic heart, but he won't hesitate to oppose her if she threatens the life of his beloved people. In his mind, the Legion can bring advanced technology and improve the quality of life of the Krampus, but Alydriah's mind is set on conquest and revenge!

Starting December 5th, we will launch the first part of a 3-part saga as Legion and Exile forces question their allegiances and old grudges resurface. Will Edgar betray Alydriah? Will Alydriah gain control of the Krampus and exert her will over all of Delta V? Prepare yourself for Frozen Fury!

Weapons of War
We're super-excited to offer this preview of the Frozen Fury promotional packages (yes, packages)! This first image is a preview of the mutating weapons, scythes, sidearms, bazookas, and bots that will be available to purchase very soon!

These treasures from the frozen northlands were designed by the super talented guest-artist SarpDV!
Speaking of guest-artists...we've recently welcomed a new addition to the team: SlayerTheKraken!
Be sure to give all of our artists and writers a follow on Twitter --They'll be sharing updates throughout development as Frozen Fury progresses!

Scores of Cores
It has been said that we don't release cores often enough; we'll usually offer a couple in with a new promotional package, but not as many as we'd like to. With this release, we're pushing the limits of our creativity and EpicDuel's game engine to realize the potential of Omega by offering a smorgasbord of cores!

You might say it's a CORE-gasbord.
...
Or not.
Stay tuned to these designed notes and our Twitter pages for updates on core progress and functionality. I'd love to share the specific details of the cores, but those may change in testing. At the moment we have:
Endless Avatar: Become the Endless to smite your foes with a blow from your mighty scythe!
Icy Overkill: Charge sidearm with so much energy it deals extreme damage but explodes in the process.
Yeti Blood: When in critical condition, become a fierce Yeti Hulk to bash your foe and steal HP.
Hair Trigger: Auxiliary core that allows you to spend Rage for more damage.
Absorption: Gain energy from bot damage.
Whiteout: Bury your opponent in snow and ice their skills! We hope you have a good memory.

Spirit Thorns: Surround yourself with ethereal spikes that damage attacker's energy pool.
Ice Shield: Shield cast by bot that guarantees blocks and deflections for a limited time.
Again, these cores are still being tested and functionality could change any time between now and their official release.

27 Days of Presents!
Starting December 5th, in addition to launching the Frozen Fury story, we'll be offering a compelling reason to login every day:

See the prize claim button in action!
Every day, we'll offer a new prize! Just click the button to claim it! Simple! The prizes will change every day; they could be home items, credits, Arcade tokens, weapons, or ??? The prize tracking is unique to each player so you won't be penalized for missing a day, but why would you want to! Plus, you'll receive an evolving achievement for claiming prizes; the more prizes you claim, the better it gets!
New missions, NPCs, arcades, weapons, bots, prizes, cores...what more could you ask for? WHAT?! You still want MORE?! OK, THEN!

How About More Prizes?!
Dust off those trees, snowmen, and pink flamingos, and get ready for a new EpicDuel home decoration contest! It's been awhile since we hosted a contest, and we're excited to be hosting another, especially during this massive Winter event! Excitement!

We're still ironing out the details so stay tuned for more details on the contest next week! Remember that the new Frysteland Yurt is already in game so you can start planning your entries over the weekend!

I...wow. These new cores look FANTASTIC! They're really going to shake up the game. The guaranteed block/deflection one looks like it needs rigorous balance testing though. Wonder how many of these cores will be tied to the promos, and how many will be insertable.

That sounds like the most deliciously OP core ever. Forget hatchling rush. What is this madness?!!!
Can't wait for all these cores! Hopefully not all for the promo items, though.

I don't have any info on the cores, apart from the stuff in the DNs, but trying to work out what core will go where.

Since the promo will have Primary / Gun / Aux / Bot, I'm guessing:
Primary - Endless Avatar OR Yeti Blood (active)
    Gun - Icy Overkill (active)
    Aux - Hair Trigger (active)
    Bot - Ice Shield (active)

And the other four cores will probably be available for Credits - then again, I do NOT know myself.
Endless Avatar OR Yeti Blood (active Primary?) **see above**
    Absorption (passive Armor?)
Spirit Thorns (active Armor?) **it makes sense**
Whiteout (active Gun or Aux?) **Aux makes more sense; bigger blast**

Ice Shield may be like Thorns - you apply the effect, and no damage is dealt for that turn. That itself could balance it out, as well as duration - it'll probably be standard 3 turns, although, I'd hope for 2 turns since only skills will be able to avoid it. Apart from that, I don't think it'd need any further balancing, objectively speaking.

Are skills still being shuffled around each battle? Never paid attention... If so, Whiteout could confuse players if used first thing in the battle. More to do with player experience there, and ideally used earlier on, to confuse the player - as opposed to the Icy Overkill, which is more of a finisher move.

From what I've seen recently your skills may shuffle between logs but they stay the same your entire session.

Edit: I'm tired throwing the wrong word forms around

    @ trans

Ever since they stopped putting in the codes for battles the move set has remained the same. If this core was used on me as it I wouldn't have to worry since I have all but memorized where all my moves are.

I read the description of the endless avatar core, and the only thing that makes me wonder is that Nightwriath put "your scythe". Does he mean that you turn into the Endless, and use his scythe or might mean he mean that the sword/scythe promo will have a different ability that the other weapons in the promo. I don't know, but one can only speculate.

Promo primaries will share the same core. The details aren't yet finalized, and this is just to give us a rough idea of what to possibly expect.

I like the daily log in reward. Many games have this and it keeps me coming back if they have it.

It would be great imo, if we had more stuff like that even if it was a weekly reward

Time for another chance to show my powers of perceptions . and be right yet again.

Ice shield will become the most OP core ingame - Outrageously broken- It shouldn't be implemented - Probably will be either a promo or varium only . I just hope you realise before you make yet another mistake - Or atleast make it available for credits so everyone has access to the equipment you have broke the game with.

The thing that blinds skill icons seems really gimmicky and soon everyone will just remember where their skills are as the randomizer system for them was taken out, so I don't think it'll be a worthwhile core to spend time on making. They'd have to bring back skill placement randomization again for it to be effective and reward those players who pay close attention.

Core concepts are still subject to change. There's still plenty of time left before the cores are released, so right now, they are going through balancing and adjustments to their effects.

The thing that blinds skills looks like a super version of concurssion shot, like the katherax bot looks like a best version of bunny bot.

That is how it should be. It shouldn't randomize your skills because the game is already heavily lucked based, and that would just make it worse.

I think it's fair on what it does now. If they change it to counter the people with good memory they will cause a lot of people to rage hard.

After chatting on Skype with a friend about the core, I think the duration itself will balance out the effect to be worthwhile. If it'll be 3 turns, this is already good enough to confuse the player or even force him to make a mistake, if there'll be a choice between: do I kill, do I shield or do I heal? Random guess of what skill would be what. With randomizing, it'd have to be 2 turns at most, really, and then again, it'd be easier to counter.

As long as it's not randomizing, but 3 turns, I'll be happy. It'd be worth using at the beginning and in the middle of a battle, as opposed to randomizing, which would mostly benefit you at the beginning.

I like the "spend rage for extra damage" aux core.

The rest are average, and don't really add to creativity of builds.

Plus I like the fact it has a downside to it's use unlike most cores which merely add extra damage.

you mean how people rage because they're too lazy to calculate block chance and strike thinking they won't get blocked against someone with a 35% block rate? Just give the core a 1-turn warmup so the enemy has a chance to SEE where the randomized skills are, then open the core up for use.

If you are willing to spend the effort to become more cunning and outsmart your opponent, then you should be rewarded. It's almost muscle memory for me as to where my skills are on the bar in battle, and I don't even play ED that much.

^Actually that's not what I meant . I meant the core randomizing your skills the moment it's used, not the skills being randomized at the start of each battle. Also I said "it" referring to the core, not the skills just being randomized at the start of each battle.

Also, I too have memorized where my skills are in battle, so that has nothing to do with why I posted that.

It's very obvious how the core would be problematic if the skills were not only hidden, but randomized when the core was used. That has nothing to do with how good your memory is, it has to do with the fact that you're forced to guess what skill is which since they were randomized at the use of the core, and not the start of the battle.

That is what I meant when I posted in this thread, which is why I pretty much implied your memory[We hope you have a good memory.] should be able to counter this core.

    Also,
    quote:

If they change it to counter the people with good memory they will cause a lot of people to rage hard.

that furthermore shows I do want memory to play a role in countering this core. I don't care if the skills are randomized at the start of each battle, I just don't believe it would be acceptable for the core itself to randomize the skills when it's used.

^Okay, I don't know if you were here in previous phases, but when I said randomization I was referring to how the skills used to be randomized to prevent bots, like the old captcha system they removed a while ago. Anybody in their right mind would know randomizing skills AFTER the core is used would just be complete BS and shouldn't be in the game.
