I'm having a bit of trouble grasping what I could do as a transmuter. Can I assume it works pretty much like Full Metal?

^Somewhat. You can turn things into other things, and change the state and shape of objects, with a few restrictions: you can't drastically change the value of something (rocks into diamonds, lead into gold, etc.), and you can't create something far deadlier than its current state (sand into gunpowder, sledgehammer into battle-axe, etc.). If you're clever enough, you can work around the last restriction.

See, that last bit is what I got hung up on. I understand you not wanting me to pull some chemistry BS out of my ass and start making dynamite from peanuts, but stuff like a sledgehammer into a battleaxe just seems too easy. Just make one sharp and distribute the weight.

Even going back to sand, you say I can't turn it into a knife, yet you go and say I can turn it into glass, when I can very easily stab a dude with a piece of glass

I think a Transmuter could progressively make something into something far deadlier. Thus they still obtain the same goal, but after a much longer period of numerous slight transmutations to reach that point.

@HN: Ok, the sledgehammer-axe thing was a bad example (as hitting someone with a sledgehammer could result in some pretty gruesome injuries). I'll get into more detail later, but your point is heard.

@kkut: True. A Transmuter could, through persistence and effort, create something far more dangerous than what they started with. Most tend to not take that option, though, as it takes quite a bit of time and magical energy.

Could I have a better description of the dwarves? The Tolkien and Dungeons and Dragons dwarves have become overly iconic to the point I have difficulty envisioning a truly successful dwarf thief, yet the stat distribution would suggest there is at least a minor systematic inclination to go that route; does that mean the dwarves are more comparable to hobbits or halflings rather than the stocky characters currently dominating popular culture?

@liam: They're a little shorter than humans (think 4-5" shorter on average, so not significantly shorter), and much slimmer (not quite supermodel skinny, but close). They have near flawless facial symmetry, and a grey complexion. Their skin isn't prone to blemishing like other races, they lack fingerprints, and they don't scar (so tattoos would be impossible). Additionally, they are incapable of growing facial and body hair, but they do have hair on their head (which doesn't shed on its own), and their voices have a nearly hypnotic quality to them.

What kind of sick man makes a race of Dwarves that can't grow beards

^: The kind of man who makes them prettier than Elves. The Dwarves aren't a bunch of miners, blacksmiths, and warriors; they're mainly artisans, writers, and merchants.

I remember one time a person saying you couldn't call flying clean shaven people Dwarves. Honestly I don't put much value in fixed concepts, and your Dwarves do sound pretty interesting. Besides that, my bio is done. Laptop doesn't work right so I wrote that on my PlayStation. Would of wrote more otherwise.

@liam & HN: Accepted. You have until the game is approved to finish your bios.

Just curious, when this starts, do I get the coin in my inventory for that? Because I'd like to say that the seriousness coin's good or bad effect is also random, as in it can land on good and I fall over something sellable, or it can find something awesome, or if we find the dragon and it lands on a bad thing it can either be his hair gets signed or he get serious burns or something. I'm just not sure if the con would be Op or not, but since it's effects and power relies on chance I don't think it is.

Not even if you use a actual coin flip generator rather then the luck stat for that to decide if it's good or bad and then you pick the effect?

It's too big of a tool for me to use responsibly. It would be extremely useful as a way to push things in certain directions, but that's something I'm going to attempt to avoid doing here.

Added the point to Power. Though question: While stats won't change normally, I assume there are ways to alter them? I figured practicing the stat in question enough could improve it, like reading books to improve Wisdom. Then again, I also figure a lot of aforementioned ways are spoilers or temporary stat buffs/debuffs because of certain factors like magical spells or location (kind of hard to be crafty in a place of constant surveillance for example).

^: There will be ways to change your stats. In cases such as your example, the environment would provide different changes to different uses of stats, not to the stats themselves. You don't get less crafty when you're under surveillance, it's just tougher to not get caught.

Game will be marked as complete on December 20th.

Gonna put in an app for this after all.

Forum Name: Disc Lorde
Character Name: Stu d'Muffin Thradek Oakwood
Character Race: Orc
Character Class: Priest
Stats:
-Power: 11
-Craftiness: 0
-Magical Ability: 0
-Wisdom: 6 (7 with bio point)
-Spirituality: 11
-Charisma: 7
-Luck: 7
Eye color: Green
Hair Color: Black
Skin Color: Golden Brown
Bio (Optional): Thradek grew up in an Orc border town that did trade with other races. Honest, honorable, compassionate, and exceptionally strong even by Orc standards, he was well liked by most of his fellow townspeople. However, as an adolescent he decided that he wished to serve all the gods, not just the ones of war. The restrictions on combat this brought made it difficult for him to fit into Orc society, and as a young adult he left the settlement for human lands. Unfortunately, during his time in the capitol he got in an accident. It was hardly his fault, but nonetheless he was blamed for the damage. (He suspected racism might be a factor.) He was ordered to to hunt down and slay a dragon, which goes against his religion. He now must choose between being on bad terms with the human kingdom or the gods of peace. He has only...hmm, they never did specify a time limit did they? All the same, best get to work on this predicament as soon as possible.

I have a few questions regarding how an Orc Priest would work, before I write the bio. The game description has these two statements:

"Also, due to the fact that most of the more helpful gods tend to not approve of fighting, let alone killing, Priests are highly restricted in their combat utility..."
"However, their [the Orcs'] devotion to combat is due to their religious devotion to the gods of war, not outright hostility."

So do the gods want me to fight or not? Besides that, what exactly can a priest do? If I understand correctly, they can call on the gods for divine intervention, but what kinds exactly?

^: Orc Priests fall under the same restrictions as other Priests: they cannot initiate combat or fight on the side of the instigator, and they cannot kill sentient beings unless no alternative can be found. Doing so would upset the more peaceful gods, but it could gain favor from the gods of war, combat, victory, etc. (though the same level of favor could be gained through fighting when justified). So, theoretically, a Priest who is a devotee of the gods of war (as many Orcs are) could fight however they want, but they wouldn't be able to call upon a god of life (or any of the other more peaceful domains). Additionally, they'd be completely cut off from the domain of peace, due to it being a completely contrary domain to the one to which they're devoted.
As for what Priests can do, they can do two things beyond what normal people can do: request Divine Intervention (typically in the form of a buff, an enemy debuff, something out of the normal happening, healing, or advice from the gods), and request Miracles (these are the big requests, and they are typically a hassle for the gods to pull off, so I wouldn't advise using them unless absolutely necessary. These are things like making an entire army disappear, moving a mountain, resurrections, etc.).

^: Approved, and noted that you want your bonus point in Wisdom. As for starting gear, most classes have required gear (Book of Worship for Priests, Thieves' Tools for Criminals, Spellbook for Wizards, an instrument for Bards [usually, some Bards do not use instruments], and a Lucky Trinket [does not influence Luck] for Gamblers), but your additional starting equipment will be determined in-game.

"Most Bards may play instruments, but do you know what I say? Nay! For all I need is my marvelous singing voice!" No, seriously, he mostly just uses his vocal cords. In-universe partially so he won't need to worry about maintaining and keeping an instrument, while out-of-universe I really want to write up songs for him to sing. Basically my main reason for making him a Bard, though a singing and dancing Criminal would of been pretty good too.

Though I have a question: If it was possible to use the Bio Point to go past ten, how would that be justified in-universe sans racial adjustments? In fact, given Racial Adjustments, are 0 and 11 Stats common or rare for a species? So do people think all Orcs are superhumanly strong for example?

While we're waiting for this to get approved, I also have another question. What counts as combat for my restrictions? Would I be allowed to challenge someone else to wrestling? Boxing?

@kkut: For your first question, since it's not possible, it's not something for which I could come up with an explanation. As for the second one, having extraordinary stats is rare. Really rare. The average NPC has scores of 5 all across the board.

@DL: Combat is anything that can only end either through rendering one side unconscious or dead or through one side's submission. Neither wrestling nor boxing would count as combat, but (to give a real-life example) MMA would.
