Hello,

Yes, in-game fame feature solved IP cheat, but will it bring back the dummies back to life?

How about crowded rooms? Sure, players will try to join the busiest rooms to get more fame, but wouldn't that make the game laggy? Can there be a faming option while hiding other charsN
/PlayerName Fame?, tell me guys what do you think about this feature.

Keep it clean guys. Discuss.

would be great that way we can actually fame people in a crowded room without disconnecting from the game.

I prefer optional. Both in=game and on character page. They are just literally forcing us to login, find the player and then fame. I really hope they make it optional.

@ Soul prisioner

they did this due to the people who were hacking fame which happened sometime ago. Anyone who tried to get it legit when a hacker was involved would get a nuclear missile in the face due to the cheater. This was going on massively especially when people were saying they wanted X amount of fame in exchange for gifting a few weeks back.

This way you can't hack fame and the winners are legit.

On topic

I personally have mixed feelings on this.

On one hand it is now much harder if not impossible to hack and cheat to get game. On the other hand it has made fame begging even worse than before. While I don't mind faming people or just faming anyone in the room just because I can, the amount of beggars I see now are even worse than before.

Heck I even got some rude comments from people who didn't want to fame saying and even got the comment "Don't expect me to fame you just because you famed me beggar!" When I didn't even say a word.

The community is really taking a nosedive in some cases and sadly Fame is one of those features causing it.

Fame will NOT be brought back onto character pages. The whole point of the change, was to remove it from charpages, and implement into the game client;
quote:

For the longest time, the Fame system in EpicDuel was completely external from the game client. This made the system vulnerable to exploits and very difficult to manage. Now, we've finally incorporated fame into the game client which will allow you to fame your friends and foes in and out of battle!

Ye I also agree, but at least if they are forcing us to login if we wish to fame each other, it will entice players to potentially become slightly more active in-game which is always good.

I really do like the new system, I had over 600 fame in 2 days, today and yesterday. This while I have exams. If I didn't have them, I would have gone for 1k fame in 2 days. Which means, it will take me 20 days to get to 10k fame. A new tier maybe? 25k fame? But it will be useless if players kept quitting, because new system is related to how many players are there in the server.

Fame in full rooms, I would really like to see a fame-ing option while characters are hidden, because lag in full rooms is just, I can't describe it.

^ /slash functions is something I've mentioned recently too, after the "hide players" feature was implemented. Would definitely come in handy, whether it's fame, reporting, or friend requests.

^ Yes, I've mentioned it in OP, but I didn't want to focus on it so this post remains as a discussion post, not a suggestion one.

Constructive!

Would the players prefer fame to only be active during pvp matches instead of on the map?

NO! not supported, quadrillion %... PVP is unplayable in some stages, how can you add that?

Maybe add it when the PvP battle modes are balanced and fixed. This might be a way to motivate players to do PvP, but now it will be a disaster.

It will have many advantages: No begging, motivation for pvping, avoiding full-laggy rooms.
But on the other hand many players now, including me aren't playing PVP, how can they get fame then?

Perhaps have a "fame back" button put on the notification you receive when someone fames you. This would help save time when trying to find the person who famed you in a crowded setting. Clicking it would either automatically fame back the player, or pop up his character bar so that you could manually click the fame button.

From the link above you can clearly see that the new in-game fame system is abused just as much if not more than the old system. Now begging is promoted even more, i'm not sure about anyone else on here, but i'd rather see old players who actually were well known or perhaps "famous" receiving just as much fame which is displayed in that link, rather than beggars being able to abuse fame even more.

@The Joker X:
Wonderful idea, players get lost in the crowd and you can't find them to fame them back, and the rage starts...

EDIT: Today winner of the rising star cheevo had 730 fame at reset, huge number. Hmm... I think I can get 10k fame in 15 days then starting from 0.

Iīm proud that I am the second daily fame winner after the revamp after R A Y and also the
first one in a full day. This was also my first attempt to go for daily fame, my first daily chievo
at all, and it happened totally spontaneus. I just thought :"Try this and see how far you come !".
I didnīt expected to win as I also have to deal with the common cold, wasnīt prepared at all,
and only had slept about 3 hours during those 24 hours.

Now that I made excessive experiences with the revamped fame system I could tell you
about its good and bad sides: The good side is that cheating is now much harder by also
having a way smaller effect. Its also more comfortable that fame is now embedded ingame
and no longer external.

The bad side is that the players that want to gain large amounts of fame in a short time like
going for daily fame, have to beg and harrass other players. Massive begging is sadly the
only realistic and effective way to go for daily fame.

Now there are basically two different player behaviours when being confronted with fame
beggars: The positive group will exchange fame (f4f) quickly and has no problem with that
atm. The negative group is using fame to extort gift codes OR does only exchange fame
hesitantly after demand, or after many hours and tries, or not at all.

When considering those results the way how fame does get gained should be fundamentally
changed. It should not make extortion attempts possible or that the players that try to
gather fame have to beg. Begging was the worst part from my personal experience as it
doesnt make players feel good on both sides.

So my idea (suggestion) is to turn fame into something that works only positive.
Instead of being dependant on the mood of other players and if they are active or
inactive (afk) and needing them actively to gain fame the solution would be to be able
to earn fame independently and only based on the activity of the player that does want
to gain fame. No player could then be harrased in any way.

Independant fame could work as following:
The active fame gatherer does earn fame points automatically by increasing the fame of
other (passive) characters. So basically fame would be the result of player activity which
it is already. Just working differently.

As another suggestion it would be nice if the players could target and fame other characters
with the active lag reducing system which does hide textures.

Here is a little food for thought. This new fame idea was actually an old player suggestion back in the older phases. This means that another of the people's idea got into the game.

I think the new fame system is much better for the community. I don't think f4f requests increased substantially, and I think players can generate a lot of goodwill just by spontaneously faming others in the room/ PvP opponents. Particularly if you don't care if you get famed back. Plus, 'fame events' like the gifting get-togethers increase the chance for interaction. The old fame system was divisive and incredibly pointless, but the new one has potential.

The most this new in-game fame system will ever have is potential. With our twisted kid-like community can you really expect fame to ever have some real meaning? Fame should be earned based on what you achieve in-game. Whether that is from achievements, which would essentially make them worth collecting, as lets be honest who gives a flying pig about blue stars? Or that it's based on how much wins you have, or if you reach a certain win ratio within a certain battle mode. Or even if it was from missions you completed you gain X amount of fame. The main issue is that as long as daily fame exists, it will forever been known as the biggest beggar reward and not daily fame. This new system is actually getting exploited much more than what the hacker did and it's on much more of a wider scale.

Ironically , the Devs and Mods say , "Don't break the rules" but the recent updates said otherwise.
