Do you guys love your builds? Do you want to talk stats and equipment to compare things? This is the thread for you!

Note: This is NOT a character advice center. AQ Q/A is where all questions for builds and overhauling goes. This is for general discussion of builds and the equipment they use.

I'm confused, can you give an example of what goes here and what goes in Q&A? I reckon the replies below suffice.

The Question
(AdventureQuest)

I'm a Tank-Warrior-BM.

Basically is to tank it, and have guests/pets help. Sadly however, all my equips are offense-leans. Also to utilize that I'm a tank, passives and effects are what I'd go for, since my output damage isn't exactly very high.

Plus, my spellbook comes in handy with the new slew of shape-shifting forms we had, a couple of guest summons (SP only) and a heal for sustain when required - and lastly DROP THE MOAP!

Checky char-page if ya want.

Hmm...I'm a rather strange build but I guess you could say it's a rather mostly opposite mage version of Gask's character in a way

Min-Maxed to change to deal with mostly any situations through use of items, preparation and ingenuity!

The strategies I usually have in my arsenal is spell spamming or the more popular. double poelala. Granted I got a lot of tricks up my sleeves but that's my secret~ ...that's guarded by a 3 headed fat bird of doom, along with a cow, a granite and a bonsai tree with several tech-y devices and traps

Plus, while I don't have a feasible water weapon for smacking enemies on the upside of their heads...the fact that my water staff provides a purify effect against poison, bleed and burn is more than enough to keep it in my active inventory cuz...well...bleed really really hurts 0 END characters XD

Check my character page for more info if you wish!

Also, Artimix still has his ferocious style of combat of using mostly offensive armors(which has been fully optimized thanks to Spirit Protector) coupled with resistance/BtH boosting misc and double dunamis to tank and power through most things standing in his way. Plus, he has mindlock orb to deal with pesky mages. A normal healing berserker

My build is something I'm not seeing many people on the forums use (or at least they don't show it on their character pages. XD), a Beastly Spearman - or Offensive BM Ranger. I mean, I have 58 characters in total so I have a lot of builds, but it's the one I focus on getting to the level cap right now.

My playstyle, though, is relatively simple. Equip the fitting stuff, call out adjacent pet/guest (Well, at least for the elements I have covered) and proceed to deal as I take. Healing, despite using FGM, is not in my way of playing right now. It may become so later when I hit the level cap and have purchased all equipment that I want to own. And yes he is an item hoarder, which due to owning a house and maxed inventory storage slots, is easily managable... Or so I hope.

Reference Char Page.

I am a Beast Master Warrior/Ranger with some spare stats to dump on END. I have a weird love for Non-100%-proc Ranged weapons. And Ranged pets.It a little bit weak in attack power, but still good to use and has extra hits from pets/guests.

Mages with 0 END typically will use - resistance miscs, and ones with END depending on how much would have damage increasing miscs or accuracy increasing miscs.

Member: dragons are emo character Kiev http://aq.battleon.com/build30/charview.asp?temp=81640382 has me reevaluating my stats and miscs. I prefer accuracy over power, but some items increase bth and damage. Polygalactase is a misc I'd probably use no matter what my build is since it defends earth and makes you stronger, morningstar is tempting too though.

Some stats i am thinking about:
200 d/i/l 150 cha
200 i/l/c 100 dex 50 end
200 i/c/l 150 dex
200 d/i/c 100 luk 50 end
200 d/i/c 100-150 end 50-0 luk

There's so many items, shields, etc. I would like to know what you guys think are the most poweful equipmenr set ups, most accurate, most defensive. And correlating/corresponding stats

Seth Hydra
How We Roll Winner
Nov14

Well, I've got 3 full characters at lv150, although one is still an in progress character since I'm using her to test out Hybrid stats.
My Warrior, Seth, is a warrior as he has been one since reaching the level cap back in 2012. While I did experiment with a Heal-brid or PaladinHybrid(200 STR/LUK/DEX 150INT) a few months ago prior to to the patch, the build was the Mystical Warrior(200 STR/LUK 150 DEX/END 50 INT) which I think was one of the first characters to implement that build. When he was my only character, I experimented a fair few number of builds on him, including beast mage and other warrior builds, although I have been a hybrid for the majority of the this characters lifespan. The reason why I now persist on sticking to my personal stat allocation(which I call Legendary Warrior build :P) is because I war quite often, although I might go back to either hybrid or maybe a beast warrior. The primary playstyle when it comes to his current build is going all out offense, with damage miscs because the high END stat which puts my HP to about 7k more than behaves as a viable damage sponge, allowing me to dish out damage, without worrying for my HP.

My secondary Lucky Beastmage, Zane Hydra(The OG...not the copycat masquerading ) was a result of my wanting to experiment with mage builds, because I always wanted a Necromancer character. While prior to the patch, he was literally unbeatable owing to how OP'd the beastmage was prior to the patch. Post patch however, things became a lot more different with pets heals and healing tactics being a mere shadow of what they were, but I've managed to create successful healing loops even post patch with a combo of CoRS, Fairy GM and Solar Flair angel which has allowed me to get over monsters that otherwise deal a lot of damage and turn defeat into victory on more than one occasion (I've made a few videos where I show this... check my YT for it). Since 2xP (2 X Poelala), things have taken a turn for the worse because now... its just pre patch all over again, although rather in this case the invincibility more or less arises due to the fact that I regularly deal greater than 1-2k per turn and no monster can match that level of damage dealing even IF I use CIT at all times.

My third, [link=http://aq.battleon.com/build30/charview.asp?temp=85726581]Sophia Heartnett[/link]. My experimental hybrid character, who was originally an Axemistress. Right now, I'm trying to create a ranger mage or rangerbrid (200 INT/LUK/DEX 150 STR) on this character. I might change to a dagger/katar based character in the future.

My last, is still in the level up phase , currently lv20. I'll hopefully be able to get her to end game in a few months time!

I think that the damage booster pets have destroyed builds in general. Thoughts?

My character has seen many builds in his time. Originally a beast hybrid, I removed the beastmaster portion and went hybrid where I stayed for a good 6 years. Finally made it to 150 and decided to give annihilator warrior a shot. I thought it was fun but I missed the spells. Moved some stats around and built a beastmaster warrior with 200/200/50/0/150/150. That was... ok. Finally had enough and really wanted to use spells. Changed my stats and have a beastmaster mage now. 0/200/200/0/200/150 has been doing just fine. I'm just glad I kept all my old gear from being a hybrid instead of selling it off as some people had suggested.

Of course, now I want to use all my favorite weapons, so I may go back to being a hybrid of some kind or another.

I am your typical dual poelala mage. Deal big damage(especially with skills) once my poes charged up and use Gandolphin whenever I feel the need to tank. I hardly use spells now save Poe, Gan and shapeshifts.(traditional spells are simply FO unfriendly)

Very versatile build though that 1 turn delay is annoying and bad for wars.(so I unsummoned poelala switch to simply using Tenebro Wiz Robes+spell boost equipment+dark spells during leppy war most of the time for the nukes)

My own equipment also gave rise to other "item builds". My char is an Ebony Knight(basically Ebony Seppy plus DmK set) who use various anti-undead equipment(not just DmK set) to exploit my ability to force the trigger. My char page says it all.... if enemy is already undead then even better!

I also focused on exploiting Father Time's fantastic HP/MP/SP rewinding abilities. Used them to practically remove the 1 turn delay of dual poelala plus Ebony's weakness.(massive SP cost, bad resistance against certain elements) Though stun and effect mobs counter FT should they be able to capitalize on FT's properties so I don't always use it.

Other stuff to work with FT includes Assassins class's Zetsubou Dageki(the only seed in the game that actually does damage), Healing Seeds, Entangling Vines, Dracomorgrify..... there's just a lot of nice stuff for it to work with though only once per battle. Thus I usually use it only for Ebony and the other combos are merely substitutes should Ebony be unfeasible against the mob.

Anyway these "item builds" work nicely with my poe mage build. Ebony goes with FT which goes with poe as mentioned earlier separately. Father Time is a really fantastic shield that make so many things possible, will be nice if it comes back seasonally on Father's Day(or to simply have a clone of it show up in GGBs) so that other people can enjoy the wonders of it like I do.

I think that the damage booster pets have destroyed builds in general. Thoughts?

On the other hand I think damage booster pets created new builds rather than destroying existing ones.

Previously most if not all pets are FD exclusive when it comes to making full use of them. FD builds have enjoyed a lot from a buttload of armor lean independent equipment that ended up destroying MD and maybe even neutral leans. If not for the severe lack of FD armor options(and the slower playstyle being unpopular, though lack of equipment is a big reason for its unpopularity), they would have become the master race.(they got Berserker class to speed things up if they wished)

If not for poelala, mages would have been pigeonholed into using FD leans completely.(though in practice people still choose FO leans, thus making them more inefficient compared to warriors) Well... there's still those spell caster lean armors including wizard robes but Angelic Robes is TBH pretty meh and only the wizard class armors a really worth using.(but still getting you nuked if you fight the wrong kind of mob) Though the alternative poe offered practically turned mages into pseudo warriors with mana.

If damage boosting pets never existed I am pretty sure a lot of us would have just gone pure warrior or beast warrior build since FO leans are still most popular and warriors make the best use of them.(so basically everyone will copy seth's build to an extent :P)

Though I gotta admit that poe/dun/thern(?) ruined hybrids in a way. Though previously the mere existence of armor leans already messed things up for hybrids so this is merely adding on to an existing problem.

Hybrids might as well be mage rangers in theory since only in FD will traditional spells be maximized(unless you use stuff like wiz robes), and warrior stats like STR can work with FD due to their equipment options being more flexible.(though in practice, FO is still popular to run despite being technically less efficient in a way)

Hmm Hybrids could perhaps make better use of effect based spells like Abominable Assault though thanks to such spells not being supposed to be cast consecutively, which hybrid's better normal attack power can exploit especially if it is a stun effect.

Also if poe/dun loses their one turn delay(I don't mind them getting a bit weaker for that), that'll benefit hybrids too.(Though if anything it'll be a more versatile but less powerful Dun warrior with more tanking ability with dual poe boosted Gandolphin.)

Despite having 3 chars all have the same build and the same inventory in fact.
I love smacking things but I love even more having pets and guests. So BBM was the natural choice.

During wars I change to poelala-mage to increase my kills but regular BBM between.

I love inflicting status effects that buff me or nerf the enemy so pretty much all my inventory has some kind of utility.
Thats also why 0-proc weapons are average at best for me. A bit of useful special every now and then is fine.

The only downside to my build is I have a few useful spells but I rarely ever use them because I dislike spamming then since staff/sword smacking is more fun.

My ultimate mage build is still the FD dual poe. The weapons I have *mostly* synergize well with the armor leans. There are some blank spots and a few odd choices in my inventory, but I think I've got most of the kinks worked out. Still trying to combine my poe with Soluna and Vampoglin Lord. I need the damage boost, the MP recharge, and the quick SP from Vampoglin for Pixel Ether. I'm considering losing the damage reduction miscs for more power, but I don't think there's much suited to mages aside from the new Warlic misc and other int boosters.

Hybrids:

The fact that they lose 0,25 turns penalizes regular spells for them to the point where quickcast healing becomes good option.

They would probably need some EXPENSIVE MP-using miscs and MP-costing weapon-based skills or more weapons like Heatwave at least to reasonably compete with warriors and mages, since as it is essentially 20% of their mana is wasted.

Though pre-patch 39 MP-using non-INT stuff was penalized I think it would be unfair now since spells like Pumpkin Patch require you to have 3 stats to make full use and then another to be able to use.

Poe build:
Few major things about it:
Allows the BMM to have a guest and spell of every element. If you're not a Poe BMM, then outside of few levels it is literally impossible, even with rares. And even in those levels, you're giving up pretty much 8 mastercraft bonuses to pull it off with compression, so it is rather steep penalty.

This does kinda pigeonhole builds, obviously, since who the hell wants to attacks energy monster with ice guest since can't keep a water one in inventory?

Especially FO ones, at that. This versatility is valuable.

The other major thing about is that it combos with pre-existing equipment. Only other options for supporting guests are CHA-based or Paralysis/Celerity, while this opens up the window for all player-based boosts.

Pretty much the only way to negate that is to make those boosts apply to guests as well, even if the situation can be improved by making more equipment that supports guests and pets (Golemmancer was interesting attempt but kinda impossible to use.)

However, the turn delay does pigeonhole them into keeping only one pet active, and that is a huge penatly - very possibly larger than damage penalty, I'd say.

Now, fun thoughts:

Blood mage:
One of my favourite builds, it is characterized by INT and END mainly.

This idea was given birth with patch 39 providing us vastly more HP to convert to MP with +INT miscs, essentially allowing tank player to spend whole battle casting spells on each turn.

Three major problems with this, though:
1) Unless you can use 45 INT MP-providing Misc, this build doesn't work since there are only efficient spells for light, water, dark. And the only one on my level are Shadow Crystals, so only being able to play on one day out of fourth is unacceptable.

2) The fact that you now have to use INT-giving Misc to get INT up to 200 to increase your MP means that the spells are essentially at large penalty compared to regular mage - kinda like using melee weapons with 150 STR.

3) The END doesn't appear out of nowhere, you have to sacrifice points for it.

These problems would be in extent surpassed by CHA-based MP spells. And still, casting a spell on every turn is a nice dream and certainly possible still at higher levels.

It also avoid pigenoholing into FO armors for faster battles :p. The build is rather more competitive now with recent Warlic's Orb release, even if still not quite what it used to be.
