This thread will serve as an OOC forum for competitors to discuss their tactics, collaborations, or provide additional details as to their effects. The order of the roster provided below is actually vitally important this year. In addition to the brand new arena to play in described thoroughly in the Twilight Arena thread, we are universally adopting the equidistant starting points normally showcased in the Grand Arena for the Finals. The order in which you are listed in the roster is the relative location you enter the arena in, with the first competitor entering in at the North of the arena and moving clockwise around the edge of the arena. Alternatively, you can view this as the competitor listed above you will be on your right and the competitor listed below you in the roster will enter in on your left. All contestants are assumed to enter roughly at the same time, regardless of posting order.

Feel free to ask me questions within this thread, via PM, or via IRC if you have any details you would like clarified.

The Roster

Uriel as played by Retro the Watcher! DQ by Rule #3 Idle Out
Zane as played by Tdub!
Shud Stoneskin as played by Rayen!
Elysia, Storm-Bringer as played by Starflame13!
Moriar Thornewood as played by Starstuck! DQ by Rule #3 Idle Out
Micha Wiedii as played by Kellehendros!
Garreth Blietstresky Balthasar as played by nield!

Also, I will be adding in any questions I have been asked that may have potentially useful or relevant information for your descriptive use. On that note:

What are the dimensions of the arena?

All Paragon Phase arenas share a similar construction when it comes to the dimensions. From the geometric center it is 65 ft of terrain until reaching either a barrier wall or, such as with Spike or Sky, the lethal hazards ringing the arena. That's either 65 feet, or 21.6 yards, or just shy of twenty meters (at 19.812 specifically) as the radius for the arena. Entrance ways vary by arena in terms of design, but consist of eight equidistant points starting from cardinal North. Were one to connect the entrances with lines, you would inscribe a perfect octagon within the circle of the arena.

But there are only seven of us in the arena!
Yes, but arenas are designed with a maximum occupancy of eight contestants. I would rather use more arenas than pack more than that in an arena. The eighth location on the octagon reference is Vacant, with the first location being cardinal north and counting clockwise if looking at the arena from above. For this arena, that means that Uriel is standing on the cardinal north entrance and Elysia has no one directly opposite her entrance.

What is the flooring made of, and what's the interior like?

The floor in Twilight Arena is made of slotted poplar boards 1/4 inch thick over a tamped earth base. While not as outright robust as the smoothed stone floors in other arenas, the wood contributes to the eerie effects of Twilight's unique environment. After a considerably thorough effort to sand the boards universally smooth and level, the poplar was covered in an alternating mix of whitewash and a dark wood stain. In normal lighting, this flooring acts as a static reminder of the chaotic art of the light and shadow interplay when Twilight Arena is active. Furthermore, the arena itself is an entirely open space - there are no obstacles, tricks, or traps within its circular confinement. While there is a boundary wall, it is sheltered behind the shadows at the border of Twilight's masking ambiance, but this is also made of poplar wood.

Poplar isn't an exceptionally flammable wood, but it could be caught alight. Fire within Twilight's Mask is an extraordinarily psychedelic sight, as are most things that normally cast light of their own.

Yall I am just SO excited to be playing in this arena! I expect to see good showings out of all of you this year. I also expect to crush at least one of you into a tiny pile of dust by the time this is over, but that's completely secondary I promise!!!!

There aren't any traps or tricks in this arena; it's just a shifting pattern of light. Looks like we're going to have to make our own tricks...but I don't mind that at all ;D

Oh dear I forgot. Ronin, are all the empty spaces on the arena in the same location on the upper left?

That is the case as I have described.

E: Starflame has arranged in advance for a post submission via email due to wonky connection statuses while traveling. Something about volcanoes not cooperating with laptops, and smartphones, or somesuch amusements that frankly make me a touch jealous. I will be posting her submission into Twilight shortly. The things considerate folks do to prevent bogging things down during extenuating circumstances. ^_^ Moments like this make me happy to be a Director, frankly. Her submission will be rather literally copypasta'd direct from the email it was given to me by, and has no alterations by myself. I will keep proof, just as y'all should on collaborations.

Besides, I have no incentive to breaking the trust inherent in this balanced system. I take my role as Director very seriously, I'll have you know. Now go shed some blood already! =P

Good luck to everyone!

Because of Internet issues, my post will be sometime tomorrow, instead of today, as I had planned.

Monsieur Kellhound, while I appreciate that Garreth's natural colours would indeed be spectacular under Twilight's harsh light, his hair is dyed as dark as the shadows that pervade and shall be putting on exactly zero impressive light shows.

(it's not working for me but it's P!nk. Iiiiiiiiii'm coming up...)

I regret not including an ability on my character that creates a red dot somewhere.

Another post from Starflame was submitted via email. This is hopefully the last such post needing this treatment, but arena pace may usurp her desires to wait for a computer and a real keyboard rather than manufacturing posts on her phone and having to email me given the phone not liking the forums much.

Can't say I blame her. Wouldn't want a second Apocalypse situation of post nommage by technology.

E: Permission granted to Kell for a minor edit to his post to rectify a detail. An edit is also in the pipeline from Star to rectify unfortunate wording, a singular mercy given the extenuating circumstances preventing a good second look by another.

Fortunately, my family returned home last night instead of staying in the no-internet zone \o/ Apologies for the mild panic, Ronin. I should have no troubles from here on out staying on time.

I have seen neither hide nor hair nor note of explanation from Retro the Watcher. Even with an extra five hours on top due to "Real Life is a thing" before I could hop on and make an official call about anything. It is nearing the 101st hour since his last post, and the rules are 96 hours (4 days). Emergency call-out leeway is 2 hours, so he is still beyond the time limit.

Retro, I am sorry, but you are Disqualified in accordance with Rule #3 on the grounds of idling out.

Tdub foresaw how both a late post or a non-existent posting from Retro would play afoul of his own RL concerns and approached me in advance if this instance came about. There's still a significant amount of time between then and now, but he does have a conditional extension if need be, so please no one jump the gun on an assumption on his timer.

I have the feeling that Tdub's next post will be written with plenty of nefarious giggling. Idling out may be sad, since we are losing a friend, but oh sweet lord, kills are so much fun.

Actually, very little time could be spent enjoying the kill, as Zane had to worry about Shud before he could take pleasure in eliminating an opponent. (Besides, killing people is just as insignificant as changing clothes for Zane, now, unfortunately.) I also didn't know how an elemental died when in human form, so I made the assumption that unless Uriel made a conscious effort to change into his elemental form, his body would be wounded and die like a human.

Sorry about this, Retro, but I don't have a choice. The post will be up shortly and no extension will be required.

In other news... Think fast, Shud.

I'm back!!! With a HUGE thanks to Ferret for helping me out with posting. Indeed, phones and forums and volcanoes do not mix well.

First lesson I have learned: Never bring a horse to a knife fight.
Thank you, Starstruck, for your character giving me much more credit than I deserve xD I honestly did NOT want to be a target of multiple people, or a target that early. I just think horses are cool.

I'm a bit tired due to jet lag (and plane delays (darn mechanical issues)), so I will try to have my post up either late tonight or early tomorrow.

And since I haven't gotten to say this yet, good luck to all and a pleasure to compete with you!

Moriar thinks your horse is actually a robot with a self-destruct command, actually. He's probably going to be analyzing everyone's character at some point! It'll be fun to see what he thinks about everyone.

And posted!!

From what I can tell of the arena, Uriel/Zane/Shud are all close to the North entrance/Wall (possibly a bit North-East), Micha and Garreth are both around the South, with Garreth a bit more towards the center. Elysia just left the South East and is now around due West, and Moriar is somewhere around South West. Does that sound right to people?

And please don't murder my horsie? Pretty Please? (half a joke, but I have grown slightly attacked xD)

I am really enjoying the events going on right now! Thanks for making this EC a blast so far and I hope it continues to be this exciting until the very end. >:D

I'm gonna post later tonight so I would like to politely request that Kell hold off on contributing for timing reasons.

In case the French didn't tip you off, Moriar is readying a Valse Macabre. It may seem like a lot to say, but Moriar has practiced his speed and the language flows very smoothly, so it was just a couple seconds of rapid fire French. Slow down man!

Thanks Starflame. We are having this really awesome Starflame/Starstruck thing happening and I just love it okay

Should lead to some fun results, anyway! I'll be waiting for Kell's post (and whoever in the other fight posts in the interim), before Starstruck and I do some type of collab, either one singular post or, more likely, two posts posted simultaneously that follow the same time frame (to suit different writing styles). So for this post, he is allowed to move my character to set this up, though all it is is a trot towards him and away from the wall, should that affect Kell's post.

Oh jeez, I didn't even consider that Kell might try to interrupt the horse's movement. I feel a little bit the fool right now. Hopefully there's no need to change or ignore anything I wrote.

Shud hates assassins

Best of luck, Zane. Shud didn't enjoy losing his kill to you.

P.S. I did consider making an alliance with you, but...see the first line :P

Post up. The end took a bit of a 300 vibe. Thankfully, Twilight allows for a bit of trickery.

Quick question, Kell, with regards to the timing of the post. Did you throw the bola before or after Moriar is lifted up by Elysia? He mentioned it in his post, but I haven't stated how/when I've done so, so it could take place at either time.

Based off how I'm reading things, it appears that Elysia is riding past Moriar, and intends to use Blossom's momentum to haul him into the saddle, rather in the manner of Eowyn and Merry in Return of the King. Micha is throwing as Elysia and Blossom coming into line with Moriar. Micha can't see that Elysia is grabbing Moriar's cloak, but that would be about when the throw takes place.
