If you guys are willing to take on a designer and redo the fundamental mechanics of battling, then combining that with a new client can definitely breathe life back into this game.
You *need* a designer though. Don't pretend moving forward that people are happy with the decisions that have been made due to the lack of one.

@The berserker killer
You gave League of Angels as an example, so I'll also give an example. If browser games are still getting so much attention, then why the heck did RuneScape make a PC client for their game? I swear... When I tried logging in over the browser I couldn't figure out how the heck to do it, they pretty much forced me to download the client and play runsecape over it... I know that ED has problems. I gave up on it years ago. EpicDuel Wiki is the only reason why I'm still around here.

Edit:
So, I just looked up League of Angels... If I had to choose between the two games, I think I would rather play ED in its current state. lol

Here's another of my two cents. If ED does indeed have a future, then lets have a future where Epic Duel isn't built around copying other games. EpicDuel was unique in it's own way. Lets have a future where balance means that each class can compete with each other and not where each class is basically the same. Lets have a future where wars actually mean something and focuses mainly on fighting and not buying anything. Lets have a future where the story line is known and more broad. Lets have a future where seasonal events aren't recycled every year. I could go on and on down the list. Point is, this game has soooooooo much potential. So much that we don't need updates that often, just competition. *wink* *wink* flags/tokens and a simple faction update can keep us busy while you work on BB.

I like veneerias idea about another branch of skills and a second skill tree for passives those sound like huge changes that will be fun. BUT we need to increase our population in ED somehow.... As for Charfade maybe go big and create like diablo II and diablo III that sells their game on a disk? maybe it can grow like they did and advance to the gaming systems.

Games sold on disks are actually rather out of style...

Downloadable games are all the hype these days. Blizzard is like the only company that still does that but they're been establishing their strengths as a game business for so long they can do whatever they want.

negativity... artix cant achieve what blizzard has?

@GodOfTechno
They're nowhere near the same size of company.
Never played a blizzard game for more than a couple days (only remember trying the WoW 14 day trial and uninstalled it in a couple days) but even I know at one point they had over 12 million active subscriptions (subscriptions of $15 a month, which amounts to $180M in a single month) on WoW alone before it went F2P.

AE's biggest game, AQW might have a dozen staff members working on it, meanwhile blizzard probably has like 200.
They're 2 completely different companies both in size and budget.

Heck blizzard got so big that they made a movie studio and are producing a Warcraft movie.
And a quick look up on wikipedia, it says WoW grossed over $10 Billion.
It would be unfair to put that kind of expectation on AE.

And I have to agree with penguin there, disks are slowly dying off. The only chance I see at physical media having any extended stay is if they moved to flash drives to keep up with space demands but that would obviously cost a lot more than CDs. My guess is companies dont want physical media. Both the console company and gaming company.
Each one for different reasons.
While digital has its positives, it also has its negatives. (i.e. cant re-code your digital game and sell it or give it away, most places you get no refunds, etc)
and almost all places where you get the game, the account isn't really yours to begin with. And I'm not sure if sharing steam accounts is allowed, so if you wanted to share a game with a family member or friend, good luck.

Steam allows you to share games with your family members you just have to go into your settings to set it up. That said only one person can play each game at a time like sharing a physical copy

@OWA
I wonder how AE would feel about account sharing.

Would AE have to abide by some Steam rules in order to have the game in there?
(i.e. allowing account/game sharing, refunds, etc)

It would probably be a client where you are greeted by a log in prompt even if it was a paid client so that sharing accounts wouldn't need to be done.

.exe hmmm. When will you work on rescripting to move to android systems?

^just use a browser that supports flash on your android device.

Making it accessible through an app of some sort will most likely be a huge pain when people could just use a flash-supported browser.

Exploding everyone has switched to games on phones. If they rescript to android systems it increases exposure. Bringing new players back.

The topic of a mobile port was brought up many times and while the rescripting would put it on a much larger platform so would fixing any major issues and pay to win elements to get the game onto steam. As penguin said there are already known ways to play the game on phones that don't include a game rewrite so it runs natively on mobile

Actually this has been brought up so many times that I'm kinda tired of it. And it also adds up nothing to the developpement of the game.

This post will get locked, and again same guy, with same words will start up another discussion on the same thing with the same answers.

I think AKs should make a sticky post, sort of "most common Q&As", and when same person again decides to ask same questions and wait for same answers. The AK can gladly lock the thread and direct the misleaded member to the Q&A post with replies to every single question that person might has. It would also serve as a quick way to respond to new comers who are also looking for the same answers.

This way, the community can have a fruitful discussion instead of talking about same old things. Sure there aren't many to talk about, but that would give more importance to much important things, so devs can see them instead of seeing such threads about a pretty old dilemma.

Exploding I see a good idea in your post though. If the devs could design an app (browser) that supported flash games on the android system that led them to epicduel. That would bring exposure aswell and not require rescripting.
