Epic duel has design notes come out scarcely, so when they do come out we get our excitement levels overflowing (or just - flowing) but at any rate, a few minutes go past and now we've participated in everything, so we're content, a little, and do other things because epic duel is just too peaceful and quiet, bemoaning and groaning something or other that impacts the easy living.

So I thought maybe we could get people who want to make stories in the epic duel universe - it'd be fun to see how other people in epic duel have a good time, expressed through the art of conversation and altercation. stir up some drama with relatable characters you'd want to be like - role models are the best kinds of characters. i've read some good stories, and the best book series of all time for me is Tres Navarre, my writing inspiration. also, characters like Estelle in TLOH trails (god, can't write the complete anagram AHAHah that set me off).

when people write a story and it's submitted and accepted, they get credited, so their name would be immortalized in-game, and maybe npc immortalized too. or no, a name is enough to satisfy, i'm just suggesting random ideas to amuse people. for now I guess, the story would be told in the same style as missions, but could be written as if they were writing a book if there are conversations from multiple people on a page. not your normal mission. more like reading a book with an occasional errand to progress. i'd want easy-to-make cut-scenes more, but i'm not picky.

btw, undertale fits my list of one of the most heart-keeping stories. always wanted to try earthbound after, lotta people say it's close-like. maybe it could be a little inspiring.. or people could be more into the mysterious and charming PoE for writing inspiration, or bioware/bethesda for masterpieces. that's pretty much the extent of my knowing.

so anything good? i write this because i'm not sure this kind of thing happens much except for some of the artists in ED, and I want this to become a big thing, and this sort of plotting would make epic duel... DEEPER. more fun. with more writers, maybe we'll all feel closer together - well, there aren't many of us to begin with, but whatever. tell what's on your mind, a penny for your thoughts. more updates! too!

you can write stories you've written before or want to write too. edit: there's a thread for it in the general discussion. so as nice as it'd be to write in here, where it's easy to read, i don't know.

I love this idea. The game is missing fun, over everything, and i'm always down for a good idea that sounds fun.

Let me see if I understand your suggestion, you want there to be more people like the Guest Writers (I think they currently have only one)? Where would these stories go? In the design notes, in missions?

If you want to write stories about the ED characters, you should feel free to do so. (I'm sure that Charfade wouldn't mind me posting this, especially if it inspires more people to write and possibly gets them more guest writers.) This is one of the ongoing tasks that the guest writers have (the quote below). If you write a background story for a character (that fits in the Delta V universe and is written in proper English), it would probably make its way to the devs (either through the PR Liaison, one of the forum staff or one of the wiki staff). If the devs like it, I'm confident that they wouldn't mind making it the "official" background of the character. Examples here: http://epicduelwiki.com/w/Oz_(storyline) http://epicduelwiki.com/w/Selina_(storyline) http://epicduelwiki.com/w/The_Storyline
quote:

► Ongoing, chose a NPC who's background hasn't been fully fleshed out and add more details and personality to the character. The end goal is to have a detailed bible of characters for EpicDuel and have that available on the EpicDuel Wiki.

I'm a bit confused by this suggestion but from what I collect the gist of it is just getting your own writing for stories implemented into the game. If you want to do that let me or another staff member know via PM and I'll ask them about it. I want to support this but idk if I'm actually comprehending it correctly so I'll hold off on my input in that sense.

Off-topic: If you like undertale then try cave story. Cave story is a different genre but has a ton of similarities and is one of the most iconic indie games of all time.

thank you for writing back everyone, especially first post, really brings the warm feelings.

a background bible, like a codex... well i'm not as familiar with ED characters than most, probably, but maybe trying my hand at it couldn't hurt. gotta see what everyone's doin' nowadays..*gag*. story missions are the things left to be desired most, i'm supposing that. though sure, codex's aren't perused at length by the majority, but they're important. i love that the ed team can accept the vast storage of mindsets and stereophonic / syncopated hearts beating together in their universe. meaning for both types of hearts; good times with worldly cosmopolitans, and hard times from people who want to make your life suck. trust me, tres navarre had it bad, but treated everything just the way I would want to treat them. why are bad things so good? to appreciate the good better? life is strange.

Oh yeah, thank you for the writingclasses link! this is my favorite: http://rickriordan.com/about/advice-for-writers/ i'm nodding my head like crazy at everything, so full of acceptance. try "How do you write good dialogue?" this is from the author of Tres Navarre.

you could read the first book "Big Red Tequila" by searching for it, it's old. it's as old as me. I'm old.

it's now my new real-life's quest to get a nice cozy cave story. ty.

If you want to write stories for the missions, you'd probably have to know as much as possible about the ED characters and their backgrounds. Reading the storyline on the ED Wiki (written by BigTuna, the original ED writer) is probably the best place to get started. I'm sure that your chances of becoming a Guest Writer would be very high if you were to prove your abilities by writing good backgrounds for the characters. And if you actually do manage to become a Guest Writer, you would be able to write stories for missions that could get into the game. I'd suggest talking to Silver Sky Magician. I'm pretty sure that a few of the mission chains in-game were written by her.
