As we know the gifting event comes around once a year during the christmas season however, at the same time said event has also caused the following to happen.

1) World spamming when a world is announced
2) less duels and more waiting around for gifts
3) has caused the community to go even more toxic than even faming
4) fighting to get into the room due to a room limit
5) Massive credit inflation due to at max 130 people getting the gifts while others sometimes don't get a single one (minus the daily gift)

So here is my suggestion to this.

Make it where as long as you are on the server where the people are gifting be you in or out of battle you and everyone will get the gifts.

With this it eliminates problems 1, 2, 4, while somewhat getting rid of number 3 due to eliminating the people who are sore over not being able to get the gifts.

As for number 5 it will help make #5 have less of an impact warrant that you are there during the gifting season.

any thoughts, comments, concerns about this?

I agree with most of what you said.

Except when you said it eliminates inflation, inflation will continue. (Promise I won't go Economic on a gaming forum).

And yes, if the entire point of the gifting event is "Generosity" (which it isn't, its one of ED's major sources of revenue) then it should be global, not a room-limited concept.

Edit: And since the servers average 250-300 and a room capacity is about 125 (i think, not sure) won't make a huge difference in gifting, its already basically global (about 50% of online players)

just make a gifting room that can take up to 300 people that kicks afk's during gifting started they just gone afk and recieved all gift while others are waiting and tuning in to the gifter's tweet and livestreams.. so make it more easy for those players who really need the gifts like us that can't afford to buy variums due to the high cost of money conversion due to economical status..

@Lord Zhen

To add on to what Aboloft mentioned

What happens when people pack these gifting spots to the point where the gifter can't get in? I have seen people do this in certain spots in the pas, and it got to the point where the gifters had to choose a diffent spot/world to do so. If they did what you suggested then gifts wouldn't be able to get through at all seeing as

1) It would be limited to 7 spots on the entire server as opposed to all the spots we have now x 7.

Also a room can only hold 130 people max. To increase this they would have to increase the spacing on the server which does cost money.

everyone finds really pointless the necessity of stay afk in a room to get gifts, you just receive a email which could be sent even to offline players, but the devs had 2 years to think about it and the system works same way, it seems far better get 200 credits gifts each to global online server ppl rather than 1000 credits gifts to only 130 luck ppl who stay 24h on twitter. But the things clearly will not change this year and probably never.

#EDCODES - Place where ED's most cancerous community lies.

Anyway.. I always kinda disliked gifting coz how it devalues everything. So ya.. best if this is it's last year. How about we just get the gifts from Dev's for 29 days and that be it.

Inflation is a natural near-unavaoidable part of MMO economies because currency is generated from nothing.
Handling that inflation well is really important though.

@Mother1 Yea, I do support it. Like seriously, I sometimes want to battle and then I remember that there might be gifting soon then I don't battle.
Another thing I do dislike about gifting is how they are so biased to varium spenders. Like, hey! Not everyone has enough money to get that 5k rating gifting cheevo every year! I suggest that they should make that gifting achievement Seasonal Rare and not Ultra Rare starting from next year. The daily log in cheevo should be kept ultra rare, though.

Another thing I dislike is the credits sink achievements. They (The devs) are really so biased to the gifters and their friends because they are the only people who can max out these cheevos since they are the only ones that never miss a single gift from the big gifters. I suggest that they make the candy cane cheevo the last credits sink achievement, ever. This won't just satisfy people aren't gifters or the friends of them, but it will also help this game become better in the long term as if new players would ever play this game and then see like 10-20 credits sink cheevos and that almost all the old players have them almost maxed out and they cant even max out a single one, they will quit.

If they ever keep releasing these achievements, the rating LB will become an LB for Varium only players. And not just varium only, but Super Varium Spenders only.
So, in conclusion, Ultra rare Varium only achievements should never exist again (permanent Varium only cheevos should stay, though) and also, credits sink achievements should never get released again.

The point of credit sink cheevos is not to give people a place to dump their credits from gifting into, but to have something there that people end up spending credits on once they've spent on everything else they've wanted to in the game. The notion was never to have bias towards gifters/their friends, although I can see where you're coming from. I personally don't see a problem with the credit sink cheevos, but then again I'm the type of player who would just hoard millions of credits if I had it and save for future use rather than dump it all into credit sink cheevos.

IMO achievements themselves should probably get overhauled sometime in the future since they don't really function as they should right now. People should be able to go for achievements/rating points intentionally, as if they were goals or something, and not as if they were just some sort of accessory thing that you get slowly from playing the game.

@ exploding penguin

If I remember correctly the very first year of gifting people complained about how this massive gain of credits would affect varium sells due to not having a need for credits due to having so many, then next update they created not only the burger cheevo, but the sushi one. The following year was when they made the cookie cheevo which along with the cane one are the most expensive of the sinks I have seen.

In fact the only sink I have seen that didn't come with the gifting season was the egg cheevo so no offense but I personally find it hard to be believe those cheevo's weren't made to blow the gifting credits rather than the thing you mentioned.
