Ch. 1: Death's Heir!
Death is incapable of dying. Sadly, this was going to be proven wrong. He laid in his coffin with the glow in his eye sockets fading... A young man sat beside him. "FATHER! Why is this happening?! Death can't die!" The young man cried out.
Death had been promised a child by two powerful beings that shaped newborns with their powers. They had used a portion of Death's eternal soul to create Deathor, his son. He had been taught well in the ways of reaping the souls of the dead over the course of his life. But now his son wept before his father. Death looked at his son with a sad bony smile. "My son... My wonderful child of the underworld... This was my fate the day you were born. But do not despair." Death said weakly to Deathor. "Then its my fault! I should have never been born! Then you could live forever like you're supposed to!" Deathor cried out with rage and sadness.
"Do not speak that way... You are my son... You have every right to exist as any other being. You were the one thing I could never have... Family..." Death said with a weak, yet passionate smile. "But why are you dying?! This isn't possible! You're Death!" Deathor cried with confusion. "It is simple... With you as my heir to the underworld, it was only a matter of time... But you are right... I can never truly die. That is why my soul and power will belong to you after I pass on..." Death explained to Deathor. "So I'll be Death when you pass father? But you'll be gone no matter what!" Deathor said with regret. Before Deathor could say anything more, Death was gone... His body lifeless... But suddenly, power erupted from his corpse! Channeling all of it into Deathor! His body, mind, and spirit! Deathor transformed into the almighty Reaper Of Souls! Deathor exhaled the ice-cold breath of Death.
"Father... I will make you proud... I will be everything you were and more!" Deathor said sadly, but with confidence. All of the underworld residents bowed before their new glorious ruler. They all cheered "HAIL DEATHOR! THE REAPER OF SOULS!". Deathor greeted the residents with a calm demeanor. "Thank you residents of the underworld! I will uphold everything and more my father stood for! Let those with evil and sin beware my cold embrace! I am Death!"
The underworlders applauded. Soon they went back to their everyday business. Deathor had much to do to live up to his legacy...
