I'm lost. I've entered Greenguard forest, and I'm now trying to see this hermit fellow, but I can't understand why we've even GONE to Greenguard forest, or why the undead attacked Dragonwatch. Could someone please explain?

What indeed! What has caused all communication between Battleon's Guardian Tower and all the other Towers to suddenly cease? What summoned the Warfiend to lead an assault on Dragonwatch Keep? What is causing the Elves' enchantment over Greenguard Forest to fail? What has caused the very nature of magic itself to alter?

It seems to me that you haven't completed Greenguard's storyline yet so I'll proceed with spoiler tags.

We don't know. But what we do know is that the source of the enchantment apparently stems from a connection between Lore and the Shadow Realm. Malek Grimsbane interfered with a crystal set between three obelisks in Greenguard's Shadow Realm counterpart, which lead to the crippling of the enchantment. He claims that his tampering was overall "for the good of Lore", but the role that he supposedly plays in the storyline is anyone's guess.

Thanks for the help. I also finished the Heartwood arc, and understood it, but... where do I go now?

after heartwood the order of areas is:
-livingstone
-doomwood
-bonecliffs
-skullbridge
-shatterskulltower
-ashfall (start with the place leading from bonecliffs [/join dragoncamp] and the story will direct you around)

Ok
So I just finished the livingstone arc
Exactly what did that contribute to the main story
Now I remember why I liked DF more than this.

It's just filler for the Doomwood area since you WILL be underleveled if you just go there directly after finishing Heartwood.
