Frequently Asked Questions

(From the Paint.NET Forums)

Q] How do I save a file?
A] Go to the menu bar on the top of your window. Then, click on File > Save/Save As
Give it a name and you are set!

Q] Why won't the right-click button do anything?
A] There was no reason for them to take it away, but they did. For easier access to your frequently used buttons, use these keyboard codes:

Ctrl + C = Copy
Ctrl + V = Paste
Ctrl + P = Print

Q] Is Paint.NET based off of the Paint code?
A] No. Paint.NET was written from the scratch and is completely separate from Paint in every way except for its name. Any similarity between the two is on purpose, and is neither accidental nor the fault of legacy code.

Q] What about Windows Vista support?
A] Paint.NET 3.0 works great on Windows Vista. As time goes on, Paint.NET will be further optimized and enhanced for Windows Vista.

Q] Does Paint.NET support plugins?
A] Yes. You can find many of them here: http://www.getpaint.net/redirect/plugins.html

Finally - a paint.net support thread!

although your links are right, they don't work because of the forum interceptor (even if it's supposed to be disabled) - it cuts the URL of the link a bit before the end (on the & symbols and all your links have them)

so here is a bug fix for you:

TreadLight -> RE: Paint.NET Live Q&A (4/6/2008 15:31:08)

Sure, but as you see, NO ACTIVITY!

biG frend -> RE: Paint.NET Live Q&A (4/6/2008 15:51:12)

Right I'm kinda new with P.net, I know the basics and all, but when I have the colour swash open, I hit the advanced button so you can edit the RGB and Transparency. Well I set transparency to 0, but when I use the brush it doesn't erase anything? why not?

ShyTrake -> RE: Paint.NET Live Q&A (5/29/2008 19:34:29)

Where do you get P.net?

biG frend -> RE: Paint.NET Live Q&A (5/29/2008 19:42:30)

http://www.getpaint.net

The Illusive Man -> RE: Paint.NET Live Q&A (5/30/2008 10:26:28)

big - I'm not an expert. I'm not even a beginner, but common sense is telling me that transparancy 0 will do nothing. If there is an eraser tool, use that at no transparancy, or the brush tool (to just brush over) the image.

Sorry if i'm wrong, but that's just my common sense.

Bone_funny -> RE: Paint.NET Live Q&A (5/30/2008 14:34:06)

i dont use PN,but it sounds like gimp.the lower the tranceprancey,the less it will erase,so 100 TP will erase everything under your brush.

biG frend -> RE: Paint.NET Live Q&A (5/30/2008 22:21:13)

I want a fully transparent background, but I want to use the fill tool to achieve that, I know you can in flash, I'm pretty sure you must be able to in PNet

The Illusive Man -> RE: Paint.NET Live Q&A (5/31/2008 6:18:15)

magic wand the whole background?

biG frend -> RE: Paint.NET Live Q&A (5/31/2008 8:18:28)

But that requires me to cut out my objects and I'm really not that good, I don't see why theres no a fill transparency tool.
