zenron the great -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/17/2008 15:53:28)

thxs. and filters isnt a button. Its a menu. GO to the top of the page and there will be a few words written. like layers,colors,filters etc. thats where it is.

ShadowKing93 -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/17/2008 23:07:08)

When I was doing a star wars one, I couldn't get out of focus of the clip I was painting. How do I take control off of one image and start painting on the others. I was using text, but then I was stuck and couldn't paint on anything else. I'm really confused!

link6590 -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/18/2008 1:40:12)

Try doing Ctrl + Shift + A

Ususally when you can't draw anymore, you made an extremely small selection that you can't even see that prohibits you from doing anything else. Hope that helps ^-^

zenron the great -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/18/2008 10:59:13)

I used to have that same problem shadow. What you have to do is ctrl+Lto bring up the layers menu. You'll find that theres a text layer and the background. Click the background(should be the bottom one) and you can draw on the background. Alternitively you can go to layers>merge down on the top of the window. That is only fo when you have finished changing your text.

This thread is getting more questions that the GIMP support sticky. thats kewl :)

Sneevil ill add them now

Tormenter -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/18/2008 11:14:38)

oops, I had a typo, I meant to ask how do you insert renders lol

Cool Dragonz -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/19/2008 14:57:55)

I got some imagehosts, which you already know, but this tut is for beginners, so:

Caldoo: You need to register yourself in PlanetRenders. After logging in with that account, you are able to click on an render. This render will open in a new window in high quality with often a white background. Then right-click >> Save as. Save it. Open in GIMP or any other programm as a layer. (Open Layer)

Take Care,

~CD~

Mo -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/19/2008 14:58:55)

Hey, Zenron. I think that in the guide, maybe you could add a bit more about gradients and other filters. For example, the embross option, I think it made one of my sigs look kinda fossil like, and also lights and shadow, to show how to effectively make lighting work with a sig. I'll try experimenting some more and then give a tut

zenron the great -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/19/2008 15:05:03)

thxs CD qnd SOE for the stuff

Mo I will add some more on those. when I have abit of free time

ty I think I've found it now -edit- aah!!! I can't find the *insert vulgar word here* button! I've saved the picture and went to open, but when I go to open it just gives me a list of things I can use as my bg. In the window I have- File-Edit-Select-View-Image-Layer-Colours-Tools-Dialogues-Filters what do I click on and then what dop I click on after that.

PS I think I'm losing it!

zenron the great -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/19/2008 16:55:11)

its there. you just need to find out where you put it.

Caldoo246 -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/19/2008 17:05:38)

lol, I was saving them wrong. omg... now I don't know how to move the render... I must seem like an idiot, but how do you move the render?

Bone_funny -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/19/2008 18:36:59)

click the cross arrow thingy and go down the menu and put it on move active layer. then just drager your render around

Cool Dragonz -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/20/2008 1:10:10)

Or be as stupid as me and find that the size changing thingie can move too xD

Mo -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/20/2008 11:01:19)

Or do what I did for the last hour. Render it yourself

Caldoo246 -> RE: .:GIMPhelp:.-A guide for beginners- (2/20/2008 12:43:13)

lol my real life friend uses gimp and he gave me a push in the right direction and omg I found the button.
