Buffy A. Summers -> The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 0:54:36)

I Was Playing Herosmash Tonight For A Bit...Which I Enjoy.

And Noticing All The Cool Sound Affects For My Gun And Special Power...As Well As Different Back Ground Musics.

This Has Been Brought Up Before But Rarely Discussed Or Even Complained About, Surprisingly.

As We Draw Near To Entering The So Called "Delta" Phase Of Epic Duel And Almost The 2 Year Point Of ED Approaches...

WHY ARE THERE ABSOLUTELY NO SOUND EFFECTS IN THIS GAME ?!?!

This Game Has Been Around Long Enough, And Makes Very Good Money Off Us (Player/Customers)...

So The Question Is...Why No Sounds? Can Cinderella Answer This One?

I'm Curious What Other Players Think Of This...As It Is Very Strange, To Say The Least, That We Have No Basic Sound Effects During Battle.

As A Whole ED Community ...With All The Things We Complain About, Request, Demand, Etc...Also Very Strange How The Sound Effect Issue Goes Unspoken Most Times.

A Video Game WITHOUT Sound...That Charges A Premium Price For Weekly/Monthly Varium Items...

Again...Doesn't That Seem A Bit....Off To Anyone?

This Game Is Completely.... SILENT.

charwelly -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 0:56:02)

I agree Ed lacks sound affects i mean serioulsy all we have is when your logging in whats that

Sipping Cider -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 1:00:45)

I would love sound in the game myself.

Some people argue that you can go to itunes and listen to your favorite music, but sometimes i do not really know what to listen to and do not know any good music to go with the game. Also, you can not get sound effects to go off every time you attack or do some skill by going to itunes.

This feature would make the game much more enjoyable and i would like it a lot.

Retrosaur -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 1:02:11)

@Buffy
I like the little *click* sounds everytime you click on a button :3 *coughs*.

And the little "dee dee" every time you get denied access to something.

And buffy, what's your HS? Are you a founder? CAUSE IM" ONE :DDDDDDDD

xxmirxx -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 1:06:51)

I actually think useless future to add in most people turn off sound and rather listen to music. Everyone I know agree with me on that.

BlueKatz -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 1:10:28)

yeah, some time no sound is good

The Sound Of Silence is cool :)

Buffy A. Summers -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 1:34:18)

Maybe You Are Missing The Point Here...

Sounds In EVERY Video Game I Have Ever Played... Are Optional.

They Can Be "Turned Off" Or Lowered/Raised.

Background Music/Sound Effects, Etc...

Thing Is, EpicDuel Has NO SOUND EFFECTS.

Which It Should.

If You "CHOOSE" To Shut Off The Sound And Listen To Music You Could.

We Do Not Have A Choice Because There Are No Sound Effects/Music.

Is There Any Video Game Ever Made, That Charges Real Life Money, That Has No Sound Effects?

My Guess Is...Only EpicDuel.

Simply Compare It To The Other Artix Games.

No Sound Effects. No Membership And A Skeleton Crew Staff...

*Facepalm*

xxmirxx -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 2:10:20)

buffy its costly to add sound on site and dev's don't make alot of money off this site you got remember titan and NW are just staff so not fair to say they make all money and prices.

Luna_moonraider -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 5:18:48)

it is ae which is talkig all the earnings of ed. they use the money earn from ed to fund thier other gamee so that their ther game would seem more attractive than ed. so basically yeah ed is a quiet game because the ae does not want thier golden pot *cough* Epicduel *cough* to run out of gold. if they make sound in ed the be using up thier gold. Yes ever notice that there are basically no advertisments bout ed on the home page of aqw,mq,hs,df or any other ae game. basically they are not even advertising our game at all. they do not want people to play this game because they know that this game is a very expesive game and if they advertise it the will have to show people that the ed is indeed expesive. No offence but that is what i feel. keep this up and the goldpot will indeed run ou of gold because paying player will start to leave. do hope they do something bout the price and for havens sake make some sound effect or just copy them from mq.

xxmirxx -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 5:30:37)

If you guys have problem with prices I suggest you pm head boss who make price. I know it is not Ed staff fault and I doubt mods don't get pay to be mod. So they would get your guys monety as well.

5rr5 -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 5:34:45)

We already talked about this a lot of times, why do you think it helps to talk about it again?

T.600 -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 6:15:29)

Personally, I wouldn't like for there to be sound in ED because I would mute it anyway; it's more annoying than helpful. If you're argueing that the sound of silence is dull?...Then just listen to music! I listen to music from itunes or I just listen to the radio online if I'm struggling to choose a song. Epicduel has more important things to focus on than adding sound effects. You should also remember that there is SOME sound in ED, so it isn't completely silent. The devs just chose not to make sound effects in battle because it would be a waste of time; they don't increase the enjoyability of the game at all.

Remember that this isn't the suggestion forum, if you would like your suggestion to be heard please post in Epicduel Suggestions.

King FrostLich -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 6:16:35)

The problem is how would sounds even sound like. I suppose all our zookas go KABOOM! Guns would go BANG BANG!! Strikes....well I dunno *slash* thing?

Thylek Shran -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 7:38:42)

I had turned sounds off in all AE games. They are just annoying after a few minutes especially in combat.
The only thing i like is the great background music in AQW.

Shadronica -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 7:44:42)

I agree with Buffy.

For a premium price game we should have all the bells and whistles. ;)

The option to turn on sound effects or music should be ours but really the only strong sound of silence comes from Artix Entertainment in regard to helping or doing anything for this game. I couldn't feel more trashed by Artix Entertainment.

I guess this game has served its purpose ... HeroSmash is their newest, bestest baby. Followed by Artix' pursuit of his toy production.

Donny The Ultimate -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 7:49:14)

I completely agree that this game is in need of sound affects
2 years the game has changed everything
but still theres no sound, hopefuly sound effects will be added in delta

Tiago X -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 8:00:15)

No sound effects? George Lowe wold like a word with you. And the freaking PM chats invitation and buddy request have sound. So does the PM notification, when the window is closed.
Also, I think I speak for almost everyone, when I say that a few "bang bang" , "KABOOM!" stuff wold be rather annoying.

xxmirxx -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 8:37:30)

thought of sound in this game is just stupid and annoying.

He Who Lurks -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 8:57:38)

Here's a thought to everyone who'd dislike sound in ED. Would you mute Battlefield 3? I think sound would be great for this game.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 9:42:20)

Sound would probably require some effort to implement, especially for all the different skills, and since quite a number of people would dismiss its implementation on the grounds that it is useless (shown by the people here who object to its implementation), and possibly accuse the devs of ignoring what's 'truly important' in the process, I don't think that it will or should be very high on their to-do list.

Sound effects draw you into the game and makes your experience more realistic; EpicDuel's attraction lies in duelling, not in creating a virtual world. It doesn't even have a functioning storyline, though I certainly hope that could be developed, preferably before the implementation of sound effects.

On a side note, I think all these dev-bashing is unnecessary. First Titan and Nightwraith, now AE? Some of the arguments about this don't even make sense. AE doesn't advertise about ED because they don't want everyone to know how expensive ED is? Wouldn't the more immediate and prominent effect be reducing the amount of potential ED players and thus decreasing their profit?

I don't see how lack of funding from AE translates into lack of sound in ED. The only plausible link is that ED has a lack of staff, but consider that it isn't easy to find artistic and programming talent of the sort needed in ED. ED's art style is also significantly different from that of other games, and it is quite hard for one artist to adapt his drawing style to suit the established art in ED. Moreover any new staff would have to learn a host of things: what players are discontented with, what ED is about, the issues regarding ED, the battle system of ED and (if that person is a programmer) the coding style of ED.

Sure, ED might benefit from having more staff, but (correct me if I'm wrong) I don't think I have ever seen an ED dev say that ED is understaffed. Artix won't transfer or recruit staff if Titan and Nightwraith don't see the need to have more staff.

nermal -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 9:47:14)

Background music yes, this would be cool.Noises like kaboom and slash durning the battle no....Noises durning battles is one fo the things why i dont like MQ even it sounds can be muted....

He Who Lurks -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 10:02:57)

This is a win-win situation, you can either chose to mute or listen to the sound effects. Yet I can't believe that members of this forum are against sound effects in a game. Without sound effects, how would EpicDuel continue with building a storyline? It's what makes a cut-scene great.

Dragonnightwolf -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 11:09:04)

In a game, sound effects don't necessarily improve the experience. I can name at least 4 maybe 5 console games I paid money for where the sound effects didn't really need to be involved.

Sound isn't always going attract people, sound can sometimes repel people as well.

Plus the other thing to remember is that creating sound effects isn't exactly an easy process.

You need some sort of technological device that records/alters sounds. You'll need a variety of sounds. You'll need a number of different technological tools in order to change the pitch and the echo of the tones.

So sometimes making the sounds, isn't quite as easy as it might seem.

Sageofpeace -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 11:16:54)

^ so part of the reason is cuz epicduel lack money?

Shadronica -> RE: The Sound Of Silence (6/13/2011 11:24:33)

The point to the whole discussion is having the option of sound effects or music. OPTION means to be able to switch on or off.

While I also agree that there is many other things to be looked at regarding this game, why is it that other AE games have music and sound but not ED?
