Ashari -> =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (2/9/2014 13:11:31)

This forum is a reply-only forum so you can't post your own threads. We'll have this thread instead, so you can propose any good ideas for new threads here.

Please make sure to post the precise topic you wish to discuss. That way you can be quoted and given full credit for the topic.

This thread is NOT for any game suggestions whatsoever, nor is it for questions.

Please post questions in the Q&A thread: =OS= Oversoul Questions and Answers XII (READ THE FIRST POST)
Please post non-character suggestions here: =OS= What would YOU like to see? III - READ THE FIRST POST
Please post character suggestions here: =OS= Dragons, Undead & Paladins... oh my! Character Suggestion Thread III

Thanks!
~James

Oversoul FAQ Thread. However, we need to first ask Nulgath some FAQ's and send him some of them.[:)]

We've got a lot of questions but not many answers from Nulgath yet. I'll see what I can put together. *assembles an EbilCorp infiltration team* ~Ashari

Soulweaver Zard -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (2/11/2012 8:23:01)

Good vs. Evil PvP. It would be Over-awesome[:D]

The Good vs. Evil Alignment Thread should cover this for now until we find out more information about the PvP system in OverSouls. ~Ashari

BadDream Productions -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (2/11/2012 8:24:33)

A thread to discuss new updates from http://oversoul.artix.com/

For Example - If Nulgath or someone else was to post a Design Notes on the site it could be discussed in its own thread here.

You probably already have something like that planned, I dont suggest Topics so may not have Originality

~BDP

As soon as Design Notes get posted on the site, they'll get their own thread here, but there haven't been any design notes to post yet. ~Ashari

Therril Oreb -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (2/11/2012 14:34:33)

a Q&A section could be usefull for if people have questions already.
For now it could be a simple thread since there isn't much content known yet. :)

Added here: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=20073997 Although we don't have much more info besides what was already announced, that will probably change as game development rolls on. ~Ashari

mturf -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (2/11/2012 22:19:58)

because i'm seeing a fair few posts regarding artwork and animation, i'd suggest somewhere for the following to live (perhaps add them to the first post in the above mentioned Q&A thread and not it's own thread).

sorry if i miss any links here, i'm rather tired ^-^
all the below have been posted publicly by our favorite overlord in various locations
i'd also add that these are all likely to have the label "work in progress" (and may have even already changed in the months since they were posted ;P)

Garazza -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (2/14/2012 8:22:27)

how 'bout the (dis)accomplishment thread...

Well, the game isn't out yet, so a thread like this is not usefull yet.
When the game is open to play, it might be usefull :) ~Therril Oreb

falloftroy -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (2/15/2012 23:21:52)

A suggestion thread

Generally, the way it works is that once the staff wants suggestions, there will be a medium for users to offer them. For now, =OS= What Would YOU Like to See? should suffice. ~TG

nermal -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (2/16/2012 8:34:50)

There should be OS design notes thread...Becuse it looks like Nulgath started writng them.....

There is now a thread for the new Design Notes posted by Nulgath himself here: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=20081779 ~Ashari

Arthur -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (2/17/2012 1:29:06)

How about a Speculation and Discussion thread?
Sounds fine for a game under construction. People can speculate all they want.

We can also have a Feedback thread for when the game comes out in order to get a basic idea of its working. For staff use and also for player viewing.

And lastly, a fine weapons, armors and technology suggestion thread cuz a new game needs some when kicking off. As a base of course.

I am not comfortable with a speculation thread that is too broad in subject. At this stage, such discussion would be shots in the dark. People can, of course, use the Design Note threads for speculation as more information is released. A feedback thread is a good idea once the game is out and, as for suggestions, =OS= What Would YOU Like to See? should suffice. ~TG

What kind of characters do you want to play? Type in #oversoul and let me know so I can make a list of ones to put into the #OVERSOUL game!

A twitter post thread.

You can find the staff information thread for OverSoul here: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=20102379 You can use that for all the Twitter/Facebook posts of any OS staff.

I've also made a character suggestion thread based on Nulgath's last twitter request that you can find here: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=20102346 ~Ashari

Secret1337 -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (2/22/2012 16:10:43)

A "Already answered" post on the top. So we dont need to read same questions 5-million times.

The Q&A thread has a FAQ already. If that doesn't help it, nothing will. ~TG
Once the FAQ gets big enough, it will get its own sticky thread, but for now, the Q&A thread is a good place for it. We'll try and keep it updated with any info we receive from Nulgath. ~Ashari

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (2/26/2012 8:30:14)

Not exactly a " New" topic, but I would like to see the Creautre List added to the first post of the character suggestion thread to lessen the odds of someone suggesting one again.

Added the character alignment chart to the thread in question. ~TG

Tristar Nexus -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (3/1/2012 10:03:50)

Seeing as we've now had a basic layout of the combat system, perhaps we could have a thread to suggest possible special attack types. The purpose wouldn't be to detail an animation, a complete overkill move or an attack cinematic but rather to get a list up for the developers of every piece of trickery the community has ever seen.

Many of us here have played some sort of battle based card game. Many different types of battle based card games. Most importantly is that most of the card games have very unique effects built into their decks and cards. For example I remember a digimon card game ability that cost you all but 10 of your health and dealt your that amount of health as damage. The digimon card game worked on the premises of having three monsters instead of just one. So while such an over powered attack would work in that instance (where your opponent's next digimon would pwn your low health character) it would not work in this game where there is only one character for you and one for your opponent (as a character with more health could end the match on the first turn). The reason I put that down was just to show an odd variation for dealing damage. Variations on dealing damage being a small portion of what the lot of us have seen out there.

While we'd all like to get a suggestion put down as a special effect, the aim of this would mainly be towards showing the staff as many possible things as possible. The game is going to have many characters and we going to want all of them to be unique. Putting this sort of stuff down before hand might help the staff map our known effects to new ones.

Also seeing as the game engine is still being developed it would probably be wise to make clear whats possible in card games before the engine progresses too far to make such inclusions difficult.

Preferably short posting format. A reference name for the special effect type and a short description of how it would work or does work in the card game you saw it in.
eg. (the relatively simple one I put down from the digimon card game)

Self destruct: Deal damage based on your current health or health percentage - ability possibly costing you the related health to do so.

Pretty much like that. Short and clear. Also if someone high up the first page could keep an index of all abilities so far listed it would help tremendously. If such a thread gets put up anyway :)

mturf -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (3/3/2012 12:20:06)

@Tristar personally i agree the thread would be useful for us suggestaholics, but i think firstly we'd have to see a wider selection of cards that nulgath currently has created. not only would it stop us suggesting things that are already there, but it would give us a better grasp of power scale and what type of cards would be overpowered, and which would be useless. additionally i think we'd need to know exactly how combat flows. i'm sure any of us with a decent grasp of how many games work can easily guess, but knowing for sure would again be necessary for us to start making suggestions. i'm sure these are the types of things nulgath is itching to tell us, but maybe they're not quiiiiite ready. as said, i'd like the thread, but i just dont wanna see it end up being a fruitless pursuit.

Tristar Nexus -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (3/3/2012 12:34:39)

@Mturf: While I agree that more details would be useful for this, the idea is not to suggest the actual cards but the types of effects. Giving the idea of counter attacking for 12 damage if your opponent attacks you would require knowing if 12 damage was too high a value. That said the point of the thread would just be to put down the idea of counter attacking, not any numbers or percentages to implement with it. There are very few effects which cannot be implemented in a way thats not overpowered, the idea would just be to list as many effects as possible so the staff could add the actual calculations to them if they so wished.

Regardless it doesn't seem like moderators are looking at this page anymore. The initial entries got explanations as to why their ideas were or weren't implemented. A trend which appears to have died off :/

mturf -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (3/4/2012 8:46:28)

@Tris ah yes, with those specifics i can see the thread being of merit regardless of the details. as for the mods, this section has very little traffic, i imagine only one or 2 look this way. and since there's no rush on anything we're posting here they deserve a little slack, ur post hasn't been up that long :P

EpicDevilDestroyer -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (4/1/2012 15:39:23)

Maybe a storyline suggestion for the game? I love writing stories. Or in this case, typing. If a storyline ends and Nulgath doesn't know what else to use, he'll take suggestions from the storyline suggestion thread. He'll build on from there [:D]

If a staff member involved in this project wants this topic to exist, it will. Otherwise, I'm not comfortable with stepping into that aspect of the game. ~TG

Twilly Paladin Zack -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (4/16/2012 16:12:17)

Art Catwalk Thread? We show how we want the chars we suggested to look?

I think that would be cool.

There's no reason why you can't link to your art in the existing character suggestions thread. ~TG

King Wolf -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (5/3/2012 2:16:19)

I like to Expand the imaginations of people playing this game.
In addition to that I would like to prupose a Thread of Caracter Animation and Design
Like This Nulgath Made.
This would Enchance people abilities in flash and also get entertained due to some Unlikely/Wierd looking Animations

I made a Combat sequence on a paper. [full image for a better view]
I think i might flash this sequnce in the future. Im kinda fully handed right now.
~ @TheChristianLim

For the present, =OS= Dragons, Undead & Paladins... oh my! Character Suggestion Thread should cover this topic. ~TG

Megakyle said practically the same thing a bit higher up but this is the first glimps into the world of Oversoul. We need a thread so we can start discussing the lore introduced in the cinimatic (a suprisingly large amount of it). The story mongers rise early :)

.Cyrus. -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (8/17/2012 3:36:35)

Add a OS Design Notes (Sub-Forum)? :)
Add a Game Feedback Thread

- Cyrus

megakyle777 -> RE: =OS= New Topic Suggestions - READ THE FIRST POST (8/28/2012 11:23:28)

Quite simple suggestion. A thread to discuss the stress test Rolith is trying (And currently failing) to accomplish on Twitter.
