Aura Knight -> Artists Unite: Resurrection (3/30/2012 3:01:38)

Hey all, this thread is for you to post any and all art and get instant feedback on it. There was a thread before, but it got lost so I decided to make a new one, if that is at all allowed. Anyway, ost your artwork and get feedback. [:D]

Here's the first piece of art I made: http://oi40.tinypic.com/dmb1ox.jpg [Unholy Retribution]

It is a glaive weapon I made and suggested for AQW. The design is rather unique and it was made using MS Paint hence no shading. I am currrently waiting for someone to flash it though. [:D]

anyway, I hope this thread is as successful as the original.

Err, don't we have the chopping block for these kind of threads?

About your pic, the design is quite nice but I suggest adding some "shine" effects on the handle. The small orbs around the guard for example. You can do that by simply adding a dash of lighter colors or playing with the glow effect on certain photo editing programs.

The blade itself could also use some new textures, especially around the edges. You could maybe add some tiny chipped off steel and battle scars from prolonged use.

Aura Knight -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (3/30/2012 3:42:42)

The chopping block is more harsh criticism. This is for constructive criticism. [:D]

random fun 12 -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (3/30/2012 9:00:52)

Well, maybe you might get lucky and they'll sticky this...

As for the weapon, I'd say the idea looks quite good, but too symmetrical for my taste. Perhaps if one end could be slightly different? The colour scheme looks good, and maybe when it gets flashed you could ask for some glow effects on the runes.

Glais -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (3/30/2012 19:55:22)

Post any art and get feedback?

Well here's something I'm working on at the moment.

Notes:The guy near the bottom's already been fixed, so no need to comment on his weirdness.

As for your weapon Aura, the design itself's not bad, but it definitely lacks shading. Looks unfinished almost.

lordkaho -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (3/31/2012 1:55:49)

That is pretty impressive, Glaisaurus. You definitely captured the feel of Jojo- the heaving shading to the *cough* rather bombastic poses.

Glais -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (3/31/2012 2:01:48)

Thank you! Yeah the pose was fine but the facial expression made it look awkward. Thankfully that's fixed.

Working on it as we speak actually. Planning on adding the Stone Mask and CAEEEESAAAAR into it. Probably gonna be doing quite a few JoJo drawings until I get back into the swing of things artwise.

lordkaho -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (3/31/2012 2:08:04)

Well, I'm glad you found an art style that fits you. Could you maybe do Star Platinum next?

Glais -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (3/31/2012 20:18:45)

Sounds good (I was planning on Pucci's face for...some reason, but SP would be better body practice. Body practice=I can do original works without photo references)

Oh just to note, I used a photo for visual aid, so the pose isn't my doing.

But I do really enjoy the style. Those lips...

And more progress: Pillar Men WIP

Aura Knight -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/1/2012 20:33:46)

Very nice sketches glaisuraus.

here's a new weapon I made: http://oi43.tinypic.com/c7okk.jpg Didn't feel like coloring it, but whatever... Made using MS Paint. Any feedback is appreciated. [:)]

random fun 12 -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/2/2012 6:51:55)

The weapon itself looks good, but colouring it in along with shading would be even better. The blade looks a bit too much like Kratos' sword however, never really liked those kind of designs.

flamingknight11 -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/2/2012 17:22:05)

It is a nice looking scythe with nice details. Though the design is too fragmented for my tastes. The pieces don't really flow together as one weapon for me. Maybe some kind of laserbeam or magic aura or something to help connect the pieces.

Turquoise -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/2/2012 18:12:43)

@Auru Knight: Like everyone else has told you, it would look sweet colored. I'm not sure how you hold it, but that doesn't really matter as much. As for a color scheme I would suggest a silver, blue, and gold, but thats for you to decide.

@Glai: That's really cool, but I can't give much critique to someone who's 10x better than I am so ya. Nice.

I haven't done much art related stuff recently due to school, but I managed to find time today to make This.

Glais -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/2/2012 18:18:41)

xD Well thank you anyhow.

I agree that your designs would look nice colored, Aura.

As for the Hydra Mace, I like it (cuz AQW Hydras look awesome) it just seems a bit unfinished. Sadly, I don't know anything about Digital Art.

Aura Knight -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/2/2012 18:48:48)

To those that commented on my scythe design, it was made for the DF Scythe Suggestion contest. Here is the post with all the details. http://forums2.battleon.com/f/fb.asp?m=20209995 As you can see, I already have a color scheme chosen for it. It will be blue, silver, and white. The weapon itself, although not connected, the parts remain linked. The weapon represents the link between man and the universe, hence the soul and universe kanji's used in the design. It shows how even though we are all different, we can co-exist. [:)] I would color it myself, but when i scanned the image, the original paper texture scanned along with it and I was unable to color the image properly, so I just left it black and white. I might edit the design, by changing the handle and making the blade larger if I find the time to do that.

Turquoise -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/2/2012 20:45:36)

@Glai: I agree, it does look a tad un-finished. I think a glow would suffice in making it fell more complete, but alas, I have no clue how to do that. D:

Aura Knight -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/2/2012 21:20:48)

Here's a new sword drawn by me in MS Paint and Flashed by 2046808: http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/093/6/a/aura_knight__1__by_2046808-d4ux54v.png

flamingknight11 -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/2/2012 21:58:54)

Here is a WIP I'm working on that I thought I'll post here to see what you guys think.

Also @ Glaisaurus WOW, how did I missed that, your pic looks great. The depth you made the faces look amazing. And the textures you made with the shading is fantastic.

Glais -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/3/2012 0:06:49)

Like seriously, all you work is downright amazing, especially on the shading. My only real CC is on the right arm...weapon...thing, looks slightly cluttered. You could also maybe try going into more detail on the face, but I think it's more your style to have semi-simple faces;you've shown you can detail everything else xD

And thank you, means a lot coming from a master shader like you. When I was shading I was actually aiming to reach your level at that >_>

My brother's actually pretty good with Digital, from what I can tell, you use a mix of white and the color the glow is in order to make a faux-glowing effect. Or it might be using a lighter shade of the color you want to glow. I don't quite remember nor do I quite know how to explain it outside that, plus I've never tried it myself. I may take up FB Graffiti though for practice (basically a watered down Photoshop)/

Yes. Especially the long sword addition there. It just doesn't mix well with the axe blades. I think it would look better to stick with one type of blade, either make it look like a grafted lance or a battle axe.

Other than that, the centaur design looks awesome.

Turquoise -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/3/2012 15:32:05)

@FlamingKnight: Wow, that's sweet. The shading is done really well so far, can't wait to see the finished product.

@Auru: Was that made around HHD? Look good anyhow, the handle seems a tad short though.

Finally managed to find out how to do glows, so here is the version with a glow. Click this. CLICK IT!

random fun 12 -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/3/2012 15:48:52)

flaming knight: I suggest that those...things...behind on his back are more perspectively aligned. Right now they look like they're facing directly towards us, whereas they should be facing a bit to our left. As glai already said, the sword is slightly cluttered, and the shield may need some enlargement, since in real life a centaur would need a far bigger shield to defend himself. You don't need to change the shield really, it's more of a reality thing and for the sake of reality.

Glais -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/3/2012 16:56:07)

Glow turned out nice Turquoise. Maybe add more detail to the Hydra heads now?

And here's something I worked on yesterday mostly.
Mordred's character, Mordred Tumultu

I do realize there's some problems, so it's probably not as good as my last one, but I think overall it's good.

Turquoise -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/3/2012 19:24:33)

@Glai: The hands on Mordred seem kinda small, but its not very noticable. As for the hydra heads, I kinda liked having the head not too detail-y. I kept it feeling kinda simple because it felt like a mace that had been used a lot, and was just being re-discovered.

Un-named staff. Any name ideas??

Glais -> RE: Artists Unite: Resurrection (4/3/2012 20:29:59)

Yeah, and that was after I changed em <_> Oh well, kinda late now.
No ideas for names...
