Ryu Viranesh -> =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/11/2014 20:00:24)

I'd like to offer congratulations to all of the Finalists - best of luck to each and every one of you in the battle ahead.

For the Finals round, a more aggressive enforcement of the post schedule will be followed: You must post once every three days (every 72 hours). Unlike in the previous round, this requirement will be stringently enforced.

The Finals are slightly different from the drop-offs: every three days (five days for the first cut) a character will be cut from the competition while those remaining continue to fight. For the sixth cut, when three combatants remain, the victor will be chosen. If you are cut, you have three options:

  • Withdrawal, where your entrant will know that he has not been deemed fit to continue, and can thus withdraw if he or she so desires,
  • Surrender, where your entrant becomes open to free kill by any remaining competitor or
  • Spite, where your entrant may use all of their remaining energy in a final, last ditch attack against the other competitors; however, after doing so, they are open to free kill by any remaining competitor.

    The first cut will be the following Tuesday, September 16th, unless someone idles out, which I certainly hope does not occur.

    Entrant - RPer - Element
    Nod - tommy2468 – Earth
    Prince Makelyth - Tdub - Fire
    Ross - blankmaskara – Water
    Rowan Moonstone - Necro-Knight - Darkness
    Julianna - Jerenda - Wind
    Kriege Marns Thalarctos - Kellehendros - Ice
    Connor "Crackshot" McCoy - Apocalypse - Energy
    Project F.E.R.R.E.T. - Ronin Of Dreams - Light

    The Finals Arena is posted, and open!

    As such, the Cellar, Factory, and Fountain Arena's IC threads will be reopened for those remaining to continue the fight (or depart) and those chosen to post any remaining actions before they are transported to the Finals.

    Congratulations to our finalists! Guess we should make the stragglers pack up and leave the other arenas.

    salene -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/11/2014 22:05:35)

    Yep! Oh well, considering this was my first EC, I'm proud of what I've done. Best of luck to all the contestants, especially Jerenda considering we share the same element! Have fun, and battle on!

    Question Mark? -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/11/2014 23:39:19)

    Have fun everyone! I hope you get to tell some really great stories!!!! :)

    Bastet -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/12/2014 14:12:49)

    I'm confused about a thing: did people who weren't selected get teleported to the arena or did the fairly invasive lights not have any effect on them and they still are in their original arena?

    Lazo -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/12/2014 14:42:15)

    "Suddenly, out of the blue, or whatever the dominant color was at the time, multi-coloured sprites appeared, hovering down at rapid speeds to choice contestants."

    'Choice' contestants. The lights ignored those the lords didn't pick. So logic would dictate the rest are still in their respective arenas.

    jerenda -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/12/2014 16:30:53)

    Yes, that's generally how it's treated. Here is an example of how Tdub handled it last year, which I think he did very well. Usually the survivors make an exit post in their respective arenas, but it's not mandatory.

    Kellehendros -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/12/2014 18:14:47)

    To follow up on what Jerenda had said, unselected entrants remain in their respective Arenas, and are free to continue to fight or leave as they please.

    Finalists can make an exit post in their Arena, or roll the "transport" into their intro post for the Finals. In the past, I've generally gone with the latter, which I feel is better for continuity of character.

    Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/12/2014 18:57:56)

    and to follow up on what Kell said above, Also remember that those not chosen, Do have the option of being healed once they exit an arena, AND, they can be given transport to the finals viewing area.

    For those of us who want to watch the finals.

    Oh and because i just forgot to do so.

    Congratulations to all the finalists. Be expecting to see my character At the Finals spectating area! I'll be yelling out cheers.

    jerenda -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/12/2014 19:12:55)

    @Kell: Can they? Hmm. I kind of like that option...

    Starstruck -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/14/2014 15:05:30)

    If Kriege dies I might cry.

    Bastet -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/14/2014 16:24:08)

    I'll need to go lend him the scarf I stole from Kai just so he dies in style.

    Apocalypse -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/14/2014 16:44:15)

    Something tells me Kriege won't exactly be going quietly

    Ronin Of Dreams -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/14/2014 16:50:41)

    My post is long, and it is done, but needs review and polish. Unfortunately I HAVE to nip back into work for a bit. Should still be back and capable of posting it before 8 PM EST with a little bit of luck, and hopefully one or more of my proofers can take a glance at it by then too.

    Here's hoping, at least.

    (Why did you have to wait for the busiest time of my week, Ryu? Wrrrrrryyyyyy??!?!? =P)

    jerenda -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/14/2014 20:06:04)

    Seven seconds to spare! *high-fives Ronin*

    I need sleep.

    Who else wants to gang up on the Bear with us? =D (Don't give me that, it's perfectly Honorable. ... Have you looked at him? He's a friggin' bear! Of course we need backup!)

    Ryu Viranesh -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/14/2014 21:59:15)

    As a result of Gedd and ring both failing to post before the very first idle time, rather than just count those Elements out of the Tournament, I've decided to drag the runner-ups into the fray. As such, tommy2468 and blankmaskara, you've both been drafted by your Lords to take their place. Since you're not true Chosen, your wounds will not be healed and you've been unceremoniously dumped into the arena without any replenishment of your gear. The first cut still stands on Tuesday evening (most likely around 8 or 9pm server time), so get posting!

    Apocalypse -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/14/2014 23:14:49)

    @Kell: Aww, why the clothes? Low blow, Sir Bear-enstin, low blow

    Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/15/2014 1:22:21)

    *snickers* And now i know why i find the bear so entertaining.

    Starstruck -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/15/2014 2:08:10)

    Are you sure Kriege is the Champion of Ice? Because he seems more like the Champion of Sick Burns to me.

    Tdub -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/15/2014 6:51:33)

    Quick question: is the Pillar of Water to my left and Earth to my right, or is it the other way around?

    Ronin Of Dreams -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/15/2014 14:00:57)

    Traditionally, pillars are listed in a clockwise order around the perimeter of the arena. However, since your approach needs to reference relative to looking at the center of the arena, that would indeed place them as (Left) Water -> Fire <- Earth (Right). You have it right, as far as my old and stressed brain can recall.

    Geddesmck -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/15/2014 18:59:26)

    I thought we had until Tuesday to post? Reading through again I see where I have made a mistake, but I just wanted to make it clear that I was intending to post and my issue was one of time zones and a misunderstanding. Good luck to everyone taking part.

    Kellehendros -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/15/2014 19:09:22)

    Behold, the glory of my artly might.

    This is pretty much the layout of the Arena, so far as I am aware. Perhaps Ryu could confirm? Please note it is not to scale.

    Ryu Viranesh -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/15/2014 20:41:25)

    Yeah, that diagram is accurate in terms of Pillar order.

    Tdub -> RE: =EC 2014= Finals OOC (9/15/2014 21:06:27)

    The views expressed by Makelyth in this post do not reflect the views of the author. Still, they do a good enough job to get this party started.

    Good luck to everyone - and thanks Ronin, Kell, and Ryu for answering my question.
