Gepard Acht -> New Cores (11/21/2014 19:28:56)

I want to talk about these upcoming cores and since no threads are made yet...

quote:

Endless Avatar: Become the Endless to smite your foes with a blow from your mighty scythe!
Icy Overkill: Charge sidearm with so much energy it deals extreme damage but explodes in the process.
Yeti Blood: When in critical condition, become a fierce Yeti Hulk to bash your foe and steal HP.
Hair Trigger: Auxiliary core that allows you to spend Rage for more damage.
Absorption: Gain energy from bot damage.
Whiteout: Bury your opponent in snow and ice their skills! We hope you have a good memory.
Brain freeze!
Spirit Thorns: Surround yourself with ethereal spikes that damage attacker's energy pool.
Ice Shield: Shield cast by bot that guarantees blocks and deflections for a limited time.

Endless Avatar: I'm assuming this is what the sword and mutating weapons get. It looks to be another one of the "Deal 1XX% damage" type of cores. Not much to say but they're decently good most of the time. I'm not sure if I'll actually get these ones myself.

Icy Overkill: This I believe comes with the sidearms. This for me is a must get especially since I dont have any active-core sidearms yet. I think what it does is it will "Deal 1XX%" damage but removes the sidearm completely. Good for finishing moves and for people that dont use their sidearms much.

Yeti Blood: This could be one of those Promo-less cores that were mentioned. Lifesteal is always a good thing, but I'm guessing that it requires a really low HP to do, like Bloodhawk (In fact, both have blood in their names)

Hair trigger: This I believe comes from the aux. Though more power is usually good, rage isn't something that people would usually want to pass up (Unless you're doing support spam in which case your rage will be back in no time) I dont use the auxiliary that much anyways so whateves

Absorption: Now this looks promising, I have two assumptions about this skill. The first one is that this is the 'bot strike' and that it will be the first bot that has an additional effect to its normal attack. The second that this is a passive core most likely for the armor that allows bot strikes to mana burn in which case is still pretty good. Worth getting for all those focus builds, I can actually see a lot of people getting.

Whiteout: Now this skill is rather gimmicky IMO. If you go first turn and 'memorize' it (Or even screenshot it) then this is totally worthless. But if you go second, and someone were to use this to you, then you're screwed. Unless of course you're using a strength build in which case Striking a couple of times is what you do anyways. I'm not sure what core this is for, but I have the feeling that it's armor or robot.

Spirit Thorns: Could be useful, it's also rather gimmicky that in a sense there are ways to get over it. If you dont have any energy left after using a high level skill attack or heal/generator, this could be rather redundant

Ice shield: This I think is really good, you can stop all weapons for a limited time. Now there are a number of ways to deal with this; using damaging skills like Plasma Cannon or heals. But this I would say will be a much better Kartherax's bot. I'm also planning to get this if it's what I expected it to be. I assume that this is the bot core, or perhaps even an armor core?

All in all I'm happy that ED managed to make a whole lot of cores, some of these are rather interesting as well and could actually be game-breaking. I'll definitely be picking some of these myself

Your thoughts?

Xendran -> RE: New Cores (11/21/2014 20:12:19)

Implement enough variety of cores including ones that may seem gamebreaking, and the variety will get to a point where you can potentially achieve perfect imbalance (which is imbalance that is so heavily asymmetrical and has so much variety that the effect of it on the players enjoyment is massively diminished).

Well actually cores alone won't provide this, but cores + skills will.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: New Cores (11/22/2014 1:41:27)

What's a bit disappointing is they could take these concepts and apply them to class's skills, removing some overlapping ones. It would take more testing but IMO it's more important to remove overlapping skill problems rather than just making new cores.
