I personally think that if the staff were to log on and try some of the new cores and promos on palyers in PVP then that would have such a positive effect on the player database. Talk about major teaser.....

Ranloth -> RE: Teasers (11/26/2014 8:11:44)

Cores aren't released up until their official release as a promo, so they can't really do much until then. Hence why we set specific deadlines for different things: Event missions, cores, etc. It's planned few weeks in advance.

We can still try to do it, the Guest Team that is. Some of us did it with the Kartherax promo, but this is subject to our available time to play, rather than something we can promise doing.

The berserker killer -> RE: Teasers (11/26/2014 8:16:15)

that would be awrsome if you could. not so much as a release, just a tease to get the pvp base upand make players happy

Battle Elf -> RE: Teasers (11/26/2014 9:55:37)

I think players might get upset if they're beaten by a member of the staff with unattainable gear. It's an interesting idea, but I could see it backfiring. Might have to only be applied to more aesthetic items.

WhiteTiger -> RE: Teasers (11/26/2014 10:12:02)

While this is a neat idea, I can't see this working out. We do testing on an entirely different server that's linked to a different database, so nothing is actually in-game until the entire release is fully tested and subsequently rolled out to the live servers/database. It is not possible to roll out an early, untested version of the cores as there could be issues with a core and if the core has been fully tested, then I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be available to everyone to purchase and use.

Like Trans said, after the core has been released, the staff can then demonstrate it in battle and I try and do that as well with new promos/cores.

The berserker killer -> RE: Teasers (11/26/2014 18:33:39)

I understand that the testing is done on entirely different servers but, from what I've seen, your stats and weapons can drag across servers. For example, theres a video of Titan logging on with a "noob" staff, no aux or gun, and having 800 strength. He fights one player then logs off.

I see where you guys are coming from but I'm not asking for the Mods to run up the Leaderboard with their insane weapons. Just log on, do 3/4 battles to get players excited then log off.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Teasers (11/26/2014 19:21:31)

While in theory it should be possible for NW to add the weapons to the mods and guest teams inventories while they are in testing it works better if we get the items at release with the effect that the public will be seeing instead of us potentially running around with the core only for it to change before release and people being upset that what they get isn't what we used on them

The berserker killer -> RE: Teasers (11/28/2014 14:56:47)

it'll be fun for players to see what "might come".

@OWA, not really "running around" with it. just doing 3/4 battles to tease players. Titan did a single battle with his 800 prim str staff and it was a major tease for a ton of players. No one was mad, no one was angry, we all wanted to fight him because it was cool.

If a player happens to beat a mod then cool, he gets bragging rights. If a player loses to a mod w/ the new cores then he'll still have bragging rights for fighting a mod.

Ranloth -> RE: Teasers (11/28/2014 15:33:13)

There is a significant difference between a Staff character having his own weapon (which is as simple as giving it special damage in the database), and creating a core and releasing it early, before the official testing and balancing is over. All in all, it won't be happening for cores/promos before their official release. After their release, the Guest and Mod/Tester Teams may be able to log in and showcase the new items to the players - if the time permits.

The berserker killer -> RE: Teasers (11/28/2014 15:37:53)

So it's impossible for Guest and Mod/Tester teams to test these weapons on the Player database for a single fight?

Ranloth -> RE: Teasers (11/28/2014 15:52:13)

Since they are tested and balanced on the Dev server, yes, it's impossible. As I've said, implementing a coreless weapon with custom damage is much easier than implementing a core that may not be done with testing and balancing yet - which only creates more work afterwards, and could give you false impression of what's to come. If the core is ready to be released, there's no reason to "tease" players about it, but rather release it to the general public - like it always worked, really.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Teasers (11/28/2014 15:55:27)

For all intents and purposes yes it is impossible but if we are online at release we can run the gear all day long and show as many different people as we meet. If you stall a battle it is easy to ask about the cores and see how they work and then you know what you need to either be excited or not care about the new gear

Testing is not only done on a different server, but it is done on an entirely different database. That means anything you do on the testing server does not affect anything that is on the live server, and unreleased items that are on the testing server are not on the live servers. In the War 2.0 video with Titan's OP Light Staff, since he is a developer with access to the live database, he is able to change the damage of his weapon and did that because he wanted the demonstration to go smoothly. This does not mean he is able to access or add unreleased content from the testing server to his character on the live server, as the content doesn't exist in the live database.

Since we have explained that this is not feasible, I'm going to lock this thread.
