People copy builds because retraining is pretty costly. TO anyone out there who knows what I mean or who have created an effective build, you understand that it takes more than tenfold of the 250 credits it costs to retrain. You spend at least 20k credits of trial and error, days of testing and hard work and dedication. I am not saying that creating builds should be easy but do you see the problem here? When only 6 players are responsible for builds that roughly 80% of the player database uses you WILL encounter balance issues. Give this a shot, make retraining free, and you will find more players creating unique builds hence widening diversity.

Oswald Cobblepot -> RE: Free Retraining (4/8/2015 10:50:31)

It would be nice and everything but I copy their strategy cuz it's better than mine.

The berserker killer -> RE: Free Retraining (4/8/2015 11:36:46)

Exactly. ANd then a chain reaction is started once someone likes your strategy better than theirs, etc.

nowras -> RE: Free Retraining (4/8/2015 12:03:24)

Supported.

Cuz im one of these players who create builds and i once spent 70k credits on retraining and made the str parasite build that everyone now uses

dfo99 -> RE: Free Retraining (4/8/2015 12:28:26)

you spent 70k testing builds only to add 42 of suport in the old str bm? lol

Ranloth -> RE: Free Retraining (4/8/2015 12:43:23)

Alright, I also brought this up with the Team, and here's the answer:

I think it's important that there's some sort of gate on retrains, that retraining should be an important choice that takes some consideration and can't be done for free forever with 0 consequence.

I do understand the sentiment that there is the retrain cost for weapons as well, which makes it a bit more expensive - but at the same time, prior to Omega, you either: [1] had to put up with a weapon which wasn't suited for your build (and make up for it with enhancements; Varium players for the most part), or [2] spend even more Credits/Varium to get a weapon which would suit your build - if not even more than one weapon.

However, the character retrain cost will be looked at again and lowered accordingly. Having it be free will not happen - as per above quote - so lowered retrain cost should help.

Lord Machaar -> RE: Free Retraining (4/8/2015 13:39:58)

Also a build saving or stats saving system should be implemented, I change between builds regulary to play 1vs1 or 2vs2. This will atleast save some credits regarding the constant change of builds. But I think this feature will never get implemented. There is a way to atleast save up for changing you weapons stats everytime, you can assign certain weapons for certain builds, e.g keeping a sword with str build stats, and another sword with stats for 5 focus, sadly not every player has 2 celtic swords, or 2 energy azrael anguish or 2 energy dread desolator, so thanks to the limited amount of possibilities you have due to lack of cores, and I say cores not weapons but a coreless weapon means nothing, sadly there are cores now that work with multi builds, that's why you have to change the stats of that weapon each time you want to change your build, anyways, until they make enough possibilities for players to try, retraining and re-organizing your weapons stat will remain a hold back in terms of credits.
I frankly have no problem, even if they raised retraining cost to 1k or 2k credits because I have enough of this currency, but for the sake of the game and its variety, I think it should be lowered.

It's funny to see some players saying I created a build that is generally a 5 focus build or a str build which is older than 50% of ED players and maybe older than you.

The berserker killer -> RE: Free Retraining (4/8/2015 20:11:26)

@Ranloth: Lowering the cost will help a lot and I would just like to take this chance to say thank you for improving communication between players and devs in this critical stage that we are in now. I will spread word of this for sure, this will mean a lot to a ton of players.
@Machaar: I support a stats saving system for a quicker change between 1v1 and 2v2.That will definitely save a ton of credits and time. To limit the amount of space ths feature would take up, maybe this should be a varium feature

King Bling -> RE: Free Retraining (4/8/2015 23:47:58)

I have played a game named "Pocket Legends", basically there's the same case, pvp,pve, in pvp you need to make your build by retraining the skills and stats, it costs 2 platinum (in-game currency) and the best part of the game is, sometimes for a week or so they keep retraining free for players to try new builds, same way epicduel can give retraining free for a day or weekend, just like power weekend, same way.

Exploding Penguin -> RE: Free Retraining (4/9/2015 0:09:58)

Yes, retraining should be free. Retraining is a huge currency sink and it deters people from being creative and experimenting with their builds because repeated failures is extremely costly.

Mother1 -> RE: Free Retraining (4/9/2015 0:18:15)

IIRC every player gets 39 free retrains now one for each time we level up. To be honest it would be nice if they did this for every time we ranked up as well.

That would be exceedingly advantageous; thanks to you once again for your efforts in enhancing communications between players and developers, and to the devs for their response! ^^

This isn't entirely accurate; keep in mind that the stat and skill points must be applied for the player gain the level and to be able to upgrade equipment, and unless they've fully planned how they will rearrange their stats (which entails knowing exactly what can and cannot be upgraded), a retrain would generally be necessary anyways -- this was the case for me personally, at least. [:)]

Unless you were referencing a literal free retrain at each level? If so, I haven't heard of such a concept, hence my confusion; my apologies.

Mother1 -> RE: Free Retraining (4/11/2015 3:04:04)

@ Underlord

That was what I was talking about. As the game is now every time a player levels up they can retrain themselves for free. It didn't used to be this way when I first started but eventually it became like this.
