One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Epicduel: Longer, smarter, more diverse (9/14/2015 23:21:38)

Because of my title I have to preface this post by saying this is my way of seeing things as another player and not as a member of the guest team.

I wouldn't say we have found the root of the problem. Many people have pointed out that the problem is the game doesn't work as it should even without realizing that is the cause of some population decline. Some other notable causes being a shift in gaming preference, and disagreements over business decisions.

Basically everyone on the forums is trying to help fix/improve the game or just dwell on the past. Therril's take on fixing the game is basically to scrap the battle engine and make something that has a focus on longer fights so luck is less of a factor. Is it realistic for EpicDuel? Probably not, but it could very well end up in the development notebook for games made down the line.

1 question

DID PEOPLE LIKE THE PASSIVES TO ACTIVES CHANGE?

ANSWER
NO

WHY

ANSWER

BECUZ IT MADE FIGHTS LONGER EVEN THO IT INCREASED THE %S

so making fights longer is going to ruin the game more..

forget about that

Here's something smarter why don't u add another battle mode where u have boss stats vs another player with boss stats and it gives super rewards?

You will have an option to make the ''Boss Battle Mode'' build in the upgrade shop

u will get a minimum of 5k hp and energy

u will have passive skills (the same skills for each class but the passive version of the skills that changed into actives

the rewards should be like 5k+ credits 750+ EXP

@Mother1: As I have stated multiple times now, I know a decline in players is one of the problems. However, nothing anyone here suggests would both change balance and get new players since those are issues on a complete different level.
Getting players is something that requires promotion, accessibility and a lot more. No matter the changes done in ED, they won't increase the playerbase. So it would be appreciated if people looked past the playerbase and on the reason and idea I gave.

@nowras: Passives were removed because they became a must have in any build. Nobody played a class without the passives which resulted in a limited diversity in builds. So the intention was to change passives to actives in order to create more diversity.
Sadly, it didn't do what was hoped for. People just found a new build that would be stronger than the rest and went with it. So now people are unhappy with the change since it didn't work out although the passives by themselves also faced the same issue.

So to everyone. The playerbase has nothing to do with this idea. It is all about like what OWA said:

Xendran -> RE: Epicduel: Longer, smarter, more diverse (9/18/2015 11:02:36)

Removal of passives was one of the things that scared players off because it shows a certain type of mindset.
The kind of mindset that goes "There isn't enough variety in this option, so lets remove it" rather than "There isn't enough variety in this option, so lets improve it".

That mindset is not necessarily still held, but it definitely was detrimental to the game.
The most important question to ask oneself when making a large change like that: "HOW will this accomplish what we want it to accomplish."
The way this change was handled, its as if the devs just assumed it would add build diversity without actually considering how such a change was going to accomplish said goal.

Now, speaking to you the players: If you guys want the truly good, truly competitive PVP game you say you do, you guys are going to have to deal with a serious upheaval of what you think EpicDuel is.
You're not going to like how foreign a new EpicDuel is at first, and you're going to feel like it's a completely different game mechanically (because it will be, if done right).
It will be unfamiliar, and you will start out bad at the game. You will lose a lot of matches. You will need to completely rethink everything.

This is something you're just going to have to get used to, and in the end you will enjoy yourself significantly more for it, as long as you keep an open mind.
Your 95% winrate builds would be out the window and never coming back intentionally, and quickly nerfed when they do.
Things would be different. Be aware, be prepared, have an open mind, and embrace it.

As I said in my previous post. The intention was to encourage more diversity which resulted in changing nothing to it at all.
The devs always try to improve the game. But sometimes things don't go the way it was planned.

Passives->Actives
Skills that were vital->Still vital, lol

Exploding Penguin -> RE: Epicduel: Longer, smarter, more diverse (9/24/2015 23:06:29)

Well that change was a really long time ago. Over a year ago, maybe 2? I don't actually remember.

Anyways, that's ample time for them to at least try new stuff out. People have been screaming to do something about the current active replacements for such a long time and nothing has actually been done regarding that.

Satafou -> RE: Epicduel: Longer, smarter, more diverse (9/25/2015 2:08:09)

I find it quite ironic that although you say your reasoning for removing passives was due to "them being a must have in every build". The replacement actives are still a must have in every build xD. Really nothing has changed other than the fact we lost what made classes a bit more diverse.

Front45 -> RE: Epicduel: Longer, smarter, more diverse (9/25/2015 3:58:48)

passives was good because look. when u have reroute u getting energy every attack. when u have blood lust u getting hp every attack and battle is longer and longer. now energy backup and static grenade need 1 turn to use and plus there are steal energy skills which are worst for Epic Duel. we don't need steal skills. deadly aim was also good we miss this skill. also the best skills were shadow arts for hunters. and plus mercenary was good class because hybrid armor was always active. we really need back up these skills

for hunters shadow arts
for mercenary hybrid armor
for TM and TLM reroute
for BH and BM blood lust
for TM and BM deadly aim

BM is worst and boring class now beauce u can play with only focus 5 build, nothing more. bh's static grenade is weak also u getting only 210 energy for 4 cool downs. mercenary need 1 turn to use hybrid armor skill. support tlm make op class and etc. there are many many problems. no one likes that passives gone

RaXZerGamingZ -> RE: Epicduel: Longer, smarter, more diverse (9/27/2015 5:58:42)

"smarter , longer" well people dont bother playing smart , all they do is stat abuse there is like 0.5/10 hunters that use smoke screen and mark of blood all the others just dex abuse and get easy wins because they know they can get energy back , afcourse the main weakness is cyber hunter as its emp grenade is simply overpowerd and can drain 400 energy at most. to the point , everybody can get energy back , stat abused skills can get re-used up to 4 times in a battle as in previus stages it would have been at luck 2 times.
