Okay, here is the deal. This is an old style rp, one that has been run on the forum before and some of the older members probably remember. This Rp has No Defined Plot! Yes, you heard me right. I am not telling you anything because there is nothing to tell. This RP style is done on the fly and depends completely on the interaction of the characters. What happens depends on you and your posting.

Now, to break this down for those that have never done this before, let me give you the basic outline.

*We start in a none descript town in Lore.
*We have a tavern and a bartender, your usual starting point for all things great.
*Your character shows up, doesn't matter how or why.
*Characters are within the general fantasy Lore but you can get creative.
*The more mundane the character to start, usually the better.
*Post length is minimal - seriously, mega posts are not needed.
*Frequent posting is not only expected but it is required.
*Minimal posting is 1 post every 4 days or you're out. (Even if you are waiting on a post.)
*Don't wait for something to happen, make it happen.
*There is always something to post - I don't care if it is a 1500 word descript of the world's most foul passing of gas or getting up and walking away from someone cause you're tired of waiting for a character response.
*Bio requirements are minimal - Name, Age, Race, Skills, Possessions, Apperance - no history required for this because I have seen too many people meta game other players pasts. Don't want to deal with it.
*If you only post once a week to once a month ~points to the door~ toodles.


So that covers the basics, post interest or bios, or both. This rp is meant to give people who are jonesing to post and rp a place to do so. Make the most of it! I will post IC once there are two approved bios in the ooc.

(And if anyone is wondering how in the world something this basic can actually succeed - The last one of these hosted on AQ lead to Death Of A Realm - these style rps work if put in the time trust me. ^^)

Edit: Quick clarification - if you join but something comes up, a pm or note in the ooc of why periodically will hold your place in the rp - some things cannot be avoided and it is understandable but communication is key as a sign of respect to the other rpers.

Either sounds good to me, I will be pulling in an older character that I use on another forum and tweak her a bit for here. (Archer/Bard) - so nothing spectacular but is a fun play.

It sounds like you are doing something (rule wise) as we had in the Elemental Championships. The problem with that is timing. At the current time there's an awful lot of us out here who love to role-play, but are currently dealing with college at this time.

Which means homework and studies. I actually was lucky, the EC took off at a time when the term hadn't quite come yet and the finals (for me) hit right around the time college was going on but not a massive amount of homework was happening.

But to require the stipulation of "have a post written without the necessity of interaction of other characters" every four days, sure it may have been successful in the past. But that doesn't guarantee that what worked in the past will work in the present.

It's worth a shot don't get me wrong. But i'm concerned that the stipulation of 4 days or you get cut off, is kind of maybe a bad idea. Since what you are doing isn't per say a contest like EC, and so there isn't as much of a foreseeable drive as to why a cut off would happen.

Appearance/Clothing:
Height: 5’5’’
Hair: Neck-length, snow-white, swept down towards either side.
Eye: Woyadei lacks eyes. His sockets are hollow and dark.
Skin: Dead-pale, like a corpse.
Body Type: He is well-muscled for his height, but he is still quite thin.
Voice: Slightly lighter than most men, though not boyish. He speaks in a formal, if curt manner.
Clothing: He typically wears a deep-gray trenchcoat rimmed with white fur and a wide, black belt with a dirk’s sheath and some bags. Black military breeches and white-rimmed Hessian boots complete his outfit.

Skills: Joint locks and breaks, body throws, weapon disarms, staff and blade weapons expert. Arthropod rider, ironclad steamship engineer.

Natural Abilities: High resistance against magic and mortal wounds(difficult to kill but similar durability to humans). He is extremely difficult to heal or buff magically, nearly requiring the aide of necromancers.

Magic: Woyadei is a Molniromancer, a wielder of lightning. His potency of spell is based on focused disdain; the more he feels toward a target, the more effective and quick spells can be. He may cast spells continuously for a few minutes, and no more, or stagger his rate of casting, and cast ever more.

Snap Lightning: Requiring sharp, sudden movements, say a snap of the fingers, lightning instantly streaks erratically toward a target, originating from Woyadei.

Shock Pillar: A swinging motion, like a falling hammer fist will call forth a delayed, large bolt of lightning from the sky to strike the ground. Less effective indoors.

Conduction: Lightning can travel forth from Woyadei’s body through material that can sustain currents of electricity. Mana intensive.

Additional Information: A pony-sized, 712 lbs millipede accompanies Woyadei. A distinct white-black saddle alongside bags, pair of dark shades and a letter sit atop of it(If for some reason reptiles want to eat the millipede, it tastes horrible and might be poisonous). He is in possession of a Grabbi egg.

Armour: His standard trenchcoat is quite thick, being resistant toward slashes and punctures. Underneath lies chain armour.

Possessions: A black-stained, silver pocketwatch. The outside is marked with an ominous, clouded skull. Unknown, black writing sits interior. An undead nurse had given him the object during his stay at Morseren, the Asylum of the Dead. His unlife began in that eerily gloomy, ever dark mountain-fortress.

Skills: Arche is an adept at shadow magic, due to it being the element of her dragon half. Although, she has begun to grow in the field of Energy magic, anything advanced or in different fields of magic other than Shadow, Arche finds herself sorely lacking.
Arche possesses decent resistance to the elements of Light and Dark and many of her offensive spells lean toward the element of Darkness.
Arche also knows one martial arts style that was taught to her by her father, as well as being able to fight using a two-handed scythe
Archer, like her father, is very fond of music and will sing(and sometimes dance) if she believes no one is around to hear her. She also inherited her father's ability to lead battles and to multi-task.

Possessions: Being the daughter of a noble-dragon( or is it dragon-noble?), Arche could have almost anything she wanted with her, however, she chose to ask for only one thing and that was for a weapon like her father's, and so the magic scythe Ethereal Flame was crafted for her. Other than her treasured scythe, Arche carries with her a pouch fulled with gold coins and a medium-sized sack that is strapped to her back, in-which she carries food and camping supplies.

Appearance: Although Arche is 32 years old, she still has the appearance of a nineteen year old due the the amazingly long life that Dragon-kin have compared to humans. Her height is 5'1 with a weight of 115lb. Arche has shoulder-length, messy grey hair; her bangs stopping at her eyebrows. Her eyes are a bright purple and give off the impression of looking right through you. With small eyes, ears and nose, Arche's petite face matches with the rest of her body; of course this is something that she hopes she'll grow out of in the next 70 years or so. Her normal clothing consist of a black, long-sleeved shirt and pants with black leather boots and grey fingerless-leather gloves. While traveling or on a quest, Arche wears a grey, harden leather vest over her shirt. An emblem of a green mountain with a purple wyvern flying above the top is printed on the left shoulder; it is her family's crest. If Arche feels an uncontrollable amount of emotion, bits of her dragon characteristics can make their way to the surface( slit pupils, sharp teeth, fickle moods,ect.).

Arche's appearance in her Dragon-kin state is much the same as her human form. The major difference is the addition of black wings and a tail. She is also much more outspoken and has a higher tendency to get into or start a fight in comparison to her level-headed human side. Her fighting style also changes. While she'd normally fight from a distance, casting spells and only using her scythe as a slashing weapon if an enemy somehow gets too close, when she is in her dragon form Arche prefers to fight up close and overwhelm her opponent using her scythe as a magical striking weapon along with her martial arts and enhanced speed/strength.

Actually, the point of the stipulation is to get people to post. This part of the forum has dwindled to nothingness, it's very sad. This is to give those that can post regularly a place to do that instead of having to wait on those that rarely post. There are other rps where the pace is plenty slow but not a single rp around where the pace is quick. Will it work? Maybe, maybe not, but at least it is a shot to try and see if it works. If it doesn't, no skin off my teeth since I host multiple rps on other forums(all of which have college students in and they post daily). I am here to try to help give one more topic to be able to post in.

Edit: And as an rper, why would one need any reason to post other than the love of rp, ^^

Alright, I've come to like this guy. I'm resubmitting him with minor alteration for this RP. Absolutely ZERO problems posting every four days, despite an interesting and oftentimes hectic schedule. If for whatever reason I'm not able to, I will make sure to inform beforehand. Hope this is acceptable:

His squared features, steel-grey eyes, and extensive scarring give him a rather intimidating look, even for a young man. Close cropped brown hair fades into unapologetic facial stubble. Somewhere between "ruggedly handsome" and "unkempt brute", the man stands out in most crowds.

He carries no obvious weapons and wears no obvious armor. He is currently garbed in riveted brown-grey canvas pants with several pockets, longsleeve woolen pullover shirt, high collared, dark grey broadcloth long coat, buttoned laborers’ shirt, a careworn mid-long black wool coat, tooled leather fingerless gloves, and large, black, steel-toed hobnail boots. Nothing appears new but everything well taken care of.

Appearance/Clothing:
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 125 lbs
Hair color, texture, length, style: Dirty ash blonde with layers from ears to shoulders. Her hair is usually worn with shorter layers crimped and pulled back with a few loose strands around her face, the longer layers are curled under and left loose falling to her shoulders.
Eye look, shape & color: Milk Chocolate with amber specks, round eyes with a slight slant at the outer corners.
Skin Tone: Tanned with olive undertones.
Body Type: Toned body over all with very defined arm muscles.
Voice/Accent: Her voice has a tad deeper intonation than most women and is slightly raspy. Sana has a stunningly beautiful voice when she sings but it is something that she rarely does.
Clothing: She wears a very simple halter top made of tanned leather that tied around the back of her neck and is trimmed in a deep brown rawhide. She wears a matching shorts that is slit on each side of her thighs as to not to hinder her movements. Her boots are a soft suede material that come up to just below her knees and lace up the entire way, soft soles, no heels. She wears a sheer mantle that flows to the ground and is trimmed in the same material as her halter top, usually pulled over her arms to hide their definition.

Skills: Agility, acrobatics, gymnastics, ambidextrous, riding, fletching; excellent marksman with a bow and skilled dagger thrower. Knows some close combat fighting, using her bow in a staff like manner. When weaponless Sana will use her knowledge of acrobatics and gymnastics, combined with her agility, to attack and defend herself.

Natural Abilities: None - Human

Magic/Spells: Sana knows many bard songs but is unaware of which ones she can actually cast. Below is a list of songs she has been able to cast successfully so far.

Trust Me: Beauty From Pain - An inspire trust spell that is activated when she sings. Spell has a 75% chance of working on one target in the line of sight. Effect lasts 20 minutes - can cast once a day

Courageous Heal: Everything Burns - A triple effect spell activated when she sings. It hits all allys in a fight. It heals up to moderate wounds, gives a +2 to attack hits and +2 to damage. Does not work on Sana and drains her terribly after casting. Plus to damage and to hit lasts 5 rounds. (Side effect is due to the nature of the spell it will make those that it hits feel more courageous during the casting.) - Can cast once every three days.

Beacon: Flashlight - This song brings about a pillar of light that breaks through low light, darkness and obscured vision. (Such as mist, fog, smoke and rain). It has no special effect other than being able to be seen from up to a mile away no matter the level of light or density of obscurity. Cannot be seen through rock or stone but will follow a path until it reaches the sky if possible. The song itself will carry with the light and can be heard as far as the light can be seen. The light will continue as long as the song continues and fade once it stops. The end verse can continue to be repeated to last as long as the singer can sing. It can be cast once a day but if it is an extended version of the song it takes away from the next days ability. Each time it is extended, it takes another day to recharge it.

Masquerade: Burn With Me - During the course of the song Sana is able to completely change the look and voice of herself and up to one more party member. The illusion is true even if touched and lasts 24 hours, it can be dispersed by break illusion spells or if the person it is cast on speaks the words "The Masquerade Is Over" - Can be cast once every 12 hours

Winter Storm: Cold But I'm Still Here - This is currently Sanas only true attack spell. During casting the temperature of an area that spans out in a 60 foot radius around her will begin to cool down, the ground will frost over as well as other materials that normally would in such conditions. Using her hand movements she can direct up to five beams of ice from her palms during the song to strike opponents or other applications as she made need.(such as a wall of ice or to freeze a lake to be able to walk on) - she may contain her five beams to the end of the song and let it out as a single attack that will form a wall of ice three feet thick and ten feet high in a circle with a 30 foot diameter. Ice attacks will melt as normal for air temp. Wall will last until she stops singing as long as it isn't destroyed. (She may repeat the song until she cannot sing anymore to keep the wall up but may not do anything else but sing.) - can be cast once a week.

Additional Information:

Sana is scarred now with a line from her right ear to her jaw on her face, small puncture scars on her right shoulder from a hound bite and a burn scar from the right side of her neck at her jaw line, that front side of her chest, down her arm to the elbow and her back to the bottom of her shoulder blade.

Armor: An arm cuff that is enchanted with Barkskin.


Weapons: She carried one small dagger that is used for cutting up meat before cooking for the most part though is works as a throwing dagger if need be. Nothing special about it, the blade is 6 inches of plain steel while the hilt is carved oak. Her other and main weapon is a Recurve Bow that was hand carved for her; she uses cedar arrows that resist warping. She possesses a Silver Dagger found in the chest of a Liches Layer as well as a second quiver of silver arrows provided to her by the Elven Army of Corellan Larethian.


Possessions: Clothing, weapons, pack, dried fruits and meats, water skin, rope, fletching items, rags, needle, threads, horse, grooming items, tent, chain with her parents wedding bands on it that she wears around her neck.

Name: Verna Troi
Gender: Female
Class: Trickster
Appearance: Verna wears a white robe, open and clasped only at the hollow of her throat, over a soft, red leather bodice and leggings. Fiery red hair brushes the bottom of her shoulderblades when left free, though often it's tied into a bun with loose tresses brushing her shoulders. Her feet are bare, soft and small with short-cut nails, and her skin is just a little on the pale side. Her form is slender, an athletic build with modest curves, her eyes large, bright violet pools in which one could easily lose all sense of sadness, as even in the most intense of situations she seems never to lose an almost eerie cheer.
Weapons: Straps wrapped around her upper arms, thighs, and calves each carry a small knife, and another four are sheathed in a belt around her waist, for a total of ten knives on her person.
Abilities:
Verna is an excellent dancer, which serves her in entertainment as well as combat. She's also a practiced sneak and has a knack for sleight of hand. She also practices a rare form of magic associated with her trade.
Spells:
Alberus' Polymorph Self: This is an altered form of a polymorph spell, which allows the caster to alter a single part of their body at will. Once mastered, it's a simple spell to cast on the fly, though as a modified spell it is only capable of altering a single body part. For instance, changing a hand to add claws, or sprouting a tail.
Tricklight: One of Verna's own creations, this spell lights up dark rooms. Whether or not what you see is actually there? That's the trick.
Shadowtwist: This one was taught by a friend, and causes the shadows to play tricks on the eyes. A skilled practitioner can take the shapes seen in the corner of the eye and make them appear as real as if they stood before you.
Puppeteer: Causes small inanimate objects to move and articulate, manipulating joints where once there were none.

Draycos, will let that one post slide but in the future, shadow magic cannot effect fire. So the flames of not be effected. It would only be able to effect the shadows the flames cast. Sorry, different element, and your bio states your character is severely lacking in any element than shadow. So your last post would be considered a God Mod.

(And Sanas magic was an illusion, not fire based, so no heat from flame or even hint to burn the place down - if it were in DnD terms, would be about a level 15 out of a max of level 20 character. The rest of everyone's characters I am placing at around a 10 - due to keeping a balance since Sana is merely here as a support character)

So reign it in.

if were talking the world of lore, then yes, there is dark flame and dark burn, with is basically what Arche did. If you could, please tell me what you're view on the elements are so that a situation like this doesn't happen. I thought we were using AQ's elements, so Shadow would be both light and darkness.

Also, Arche never mention any show of element, she is taunting Sanas. I think you misunderstood me there.

Edit: Also, as I said before, in "The Depths of Chaos" OCC, I'm not very familar is DnD terms, so you'll have to for give me if I don't really know lvl differances.

We are going with basic Fire for fire, water for water, earth for earth, etc. And no she didn't say shadow but the post showed a use of magic and since your bio states she is lacking in any element other than shadow, the effect she did would not have been possible. (And even if it was, not under such simplistic movements. Magic use in general will take a effort, not a flick of the finger)

Edit: and no worries about dnd, I just use that as a guide since I know at least two other rpers in this rp have a good knowledge. Think of characters as being middle of the road. Not newbs to their craft but no where near mastering their arts. )

However, you seem to be forgetting that in the AE universe, Shadow, in-and-of itself is not an element. It's made of both light and darkness, hence I put "offensive spells lean toward the element of Darkness."

All Arche did, was turn the flame into a dark flame( which should be fairly easy to do since the elements of fire and darkness are allied) and guided it around. Hardy in the realm of god mod. Dark flames are kinda her specialty, but that's for later and if we ever get into a fight. Her weapon's name kinda gives that off though.

But for future reference, is possible to turn a normal flame into a dark flame by merging the two?

I meant advanced in terms of energy, sorry if that caused misunderstandings.

edit: Ok that's fine, but maybe have something in the op to say were the best power lvl in general? As power lvls are going to be in perspective when dealing with different races. I.E: A 15 human mage, adept at wind magic, facing off against a lvl 10 dragon-kin, shadow adept. While the human is a higher lvl, in lore, dragons are said to have one of the strongest magic capabilities. Not to mention the shadow user has but light and dark to attack with. The perspective of lvls is hard when it comes to magic, and even more so when you throw in races and Lore canon. I'll try to keep in lower from now on, but I'm also trying to keep Arche's magical strenght as a dragon-kin in mind too. I'll pm you if I have any questions about a post. Sorry about that, I really didn't think it was all that strong since I was going by AQ's elemental settings( which is kinda confusing at times:P).

And you made it jump, which is a fire manipulation.(still neither light or dark - fire is a base element, while light and dark are kept to the side of the basics) We keep it simple, element for element and Shadow as an element. This way it is simpler to keep up with. (Also why I list out spells characters can cast than just saying an element base. That way if the spell isn't there, it can't be cast on a whim)

For future - no, it cannot alter a flame, only the shadows it cast. Say she could have pulled the shadows that were cast from the flames in the fire pit, the musicians Sana created or the flames on Sanas body to do something, just not altered the flame itself.

wait, hold up. In AE Light and Dark are part of the basic elements, so in this Rp is taking place in Lore, you can't really throw them to the side and say the they aren't basic elements. You'd have to host the Rp in a whole new world to do that.

Edit: Dark flame is considered part of the darkness element so it would be darkness manipulation.

No, I phrased that badly, sorry. Not meaning not basic but hrm, how to explain this. Okay say you have the elements aligned out - Light and Dark go together as both doing more damage than another elemental hit but also taking more damage if they are hit.

And yes, dark flame is considered dark but you were manipulating fire, pure fire, not dark flame. You would have had to cast dark flame, pulling from the dark element, first to create a dark flame and then cast again to manipulate it beneath the patrons. Multiple castings, which would have taken extended concentration and control and not just a flick of the finger while sipping tea.

(Which is really the biggest issue here since you character can use other elements just not as well as shadow. Take out everything else, that is the big issue - The simplicity of the cast is way over board as far as I am concerned and is a God mod. Sanas song took roughly 4 minutes to cast with container movement, concentration and vocals. - to use as an example)

Time length is determined by the songs used, song used are listed in my bio and linked when used in the actual IC post.
