In Design Notes 1.6.81 at the "Balance" section it states that the Mercenary's "Atom Smasher" was nerfed but that's the energy drain for Tactikal Mercenaries.

It seems that the Mercenary energy drain skill was unchanged, so the skill name in the DNs is correct, but it needs to be moved down under the Tactical Mercenary section.



But that does make me wonder, did NW really mean to nerf Mercs and accidentally nerfed Tac Mercs? lol

Updated:

After looking back through everything the mercenary drain WAS NOT nerfed by 4% and a mistake was made through all of the implementations of weapons and cores and such that the minor detail was mistakenly made. I take full responsibility of this mistake and we will work to fix it up and not have little things like this happen moving forward.

45% conversion at level 1
Strength improves conversion by 1% every 4 Strength
23 Strength on the merc means 5% conversion, so you remove that and you are at base 40% conversion at level 1

If you check the wiki page history, you can see that those percentages were last edited on "05:38, 25 June 2018‎" (last change made to Static Smash was in June 22, 2018, Patch Notes - 1.6.75.)

Are you sure that the merc skill (Static Smash) was changed or am I missing something?

Merc still drains a LOT of energy...

This was indeed a mistake. The intention was to nerf Static Smash but I crossed my wires since Atom Smasher used to be a Merc skill way back. This will be resolved in the upcoming update since Tac Mercs have it hard enough already.
