Greed Redemption -> Alt Accounts and Dummying Abuse (7/31/2018 18:41:34)

Hello everyone, now I think we all know something that has been going on for quite some time and I believe we should address this issue sometime in the future.
I have a feeling that competition hasn't been fair for other players due to taking a huge notice in the rise of alts and dummy accounts. I've talked to a few factions who alt and versed one alt filled faction the other day, we each reached 2,000+ wins which I'm proud of my members for working so hard but unfortunately I am sad to see they didn't get the reward they deserved from it. However our faction had no alts, and theirs did. They beat us because of it, and I believe they were dummy-ing accounts quite a bit.
They were fine with it even after the negative attention they got during it. I'm not going to name the faction name however I will say they did not deserve a champ for cheating.

I believe there are some ways around this, however I think this topic is something that we should discuss as an EpicDuel community.
I think one way to at least prevent alts and dummy-ing is to have some kind of requirement to join a faction, whether it be something like a certain win count or up to a level requirement.
I look forward to hearing from anyone's feedback or opinion on this topic.

Best Regards,
Vizrus

.Lord Ginger. -> RE: Alt Accounts and Dummying Abuse (7/31/2018 18:53:12)

I do believe there should be a requirement to join factions, however people can use alts and just lose battles on purpose and still boost wins.

As long as people care about winning rather than respect in a true win or a good fight, people will cheat.

I would like a level requirement for factions, but legit new players wouldn't be able to be in factions, which could be weird, especially if they're in the 30s.

However with the current state of factions (such as bringers of doom which I will bring up), people will do whatever they can to go and cheese out a win from legit players.

So I do think we need a level cap for this, which will help get away from people using low levels, however, leaving battles or purposely losing a battle will still happen if people are desperate enough.

Popping in to give a reminder that naming, harassing, or accusing any individual players or factions of cheating, hacking, or botting is against our rules. Greed's post is a good example of not being too specific.

On topic, I'd support a level requirement but only a fairly low one. Factions are a core game mechanic and restricting that access would have to be done carefully.

Greed Redemption -> RE: Alt Accounts and Dummying Abuse (7/31/2018 19:24:09)

Hello .Lord Ginger. and BattleElf,

Thank you for your comments, as for the free wins I do see this being a thing for sure, people will always find one way to cheat, I say maybe if we bring back loses or at least ratios, this chance would go down if they cared about their ratio. (Most likely not)

If we were to do a level requirement to help prevent it, I think it'd be a strong step in having a better and more fair competition for EpicDuel. I'm thinking at least level 26-28, at that point give them an achievement for joining a faction perhaps, then an achievement for becoming officer later on ultimately making officer feel even better once given. (I understand people may just give out officer anyway to give the achievement most likely but I think it'd be a nice touch) Leaders can get an achievement for creating a faction as well.

What happens for people who are already in a faction as a level lower than the requirement? (I don't believe there should be an exceptions to the change, all lower then 26- 28 should be removed automatically.

How about leaders who made the factions as a lower level? (Give them the leader achievement but have faction disbanned) - not to sure really

Their influence will still go up for participating in wars on their character so there is no need to address influence.

Adoshia -> RE: Alt Accounts and Dummying Abuse (7/31/2018 19:41:15)

Might be a crazy idea but allow me to propose this. We're in the era of legendary classes and legendary rank points. So why not implement that mechanic into factions? Just a suggestion and possibly a farfetched one at that but let me explain.

With this idea there would be two faction tiers:

Legendary Factions - Any players level 31 to 40 can join this tier of faction, maybe add a certain color to the faction label to represent you're a part of this tier.

Factions - Any players level 1 to 31 can join this tier of faction (With the option to upgrade once the founder has reached level 31 and all members in that faction has met required level goal) I know the main problem with this would be what if the leader wants to upgrade faction and does not want to kick the members in order to upgrade if they are not all the required level.

Along with this system, I suggest a new feature, Faction boards. These would be posted at designated areas across Delta V that show all available factions and alignment, as well as required level and tier of faction with the leaders name, an option to apply to the faction from the board pending acceptance from the faction leader, and a tab to send mail to the faction leader for any questions comments or concerns you might have. This would at least minimize confusion and let players know what they're getting into.

This would not fix the Alting problem I do not think but what this does do is make it less appealing because you wouldn't be able to join many alts into a legendary faction to help them achieve the daily champion. With the requirement to alt being level 31, which is a pretty hefty commitment to level many accounts to this level just to spike daily wins for any one faction.

(Just a basic idea on a new system and overhaul probably would need many tweaks and might have problems but just a friendly suggestion.)

Hello Adoshia,

Thank you for your comment,

I believe your suggestion does have a good spark to it however the spark did not last too long after these few flaws I see with this idea. It's not bad, just needs to be tweaked a little bit!

Legendary Faction Thoughts:

I believe this is a great idea for 31-40 and it'd make being legendary more fun.

Factions:

Great way to divide the two tiers

Outcome: I see the normal factions have potential alt abuse so basically a level 30-31 would just stay that level and never upgrade the faction or could get to level 40 and not have a legendary faction upgrade unless it'd automatically upgrade faction and remove members. Maybe legendary factions should have better reward potential for champs.
Players could abuse this by staying 30 and never leveling then have alts win a lot of champs then they'd move onto upgrading when they have a lot of champs. I think one way around this would be making a separate faction leaderboard

Legendary Dailys and Faction Dailys

So in the end this would only hurt alts slightly!

I believe a level requirement would be good and just a legendary faction for the sake of having legendary faction LBs + maybe rewards per champs. The regular factions who alt would just take advantage unfortunately it'd not work as good as it sounds.

As for faction name color: Do purple for Legendary Factions in my opinion purple would fit nicely.

Adoshia -> RE: Alt Accounts and Dummying Abuse (7/31/2018 20:11:53)

Hey Vizrus!

Thank you for your feedback and the possible flaws that would come from this system, I believe to avoid players from having that mentality towards never upgrading the faction and keeping the Founder level 30 to 31 would be to have something that would be worth leveling up to a Legendary Faction status:

1. Have specific faction flag designs and shapes specific to Legendary Factions

2. Add more to the Faction Headquarters, my proposal to this would be to have a donation system that you could donate credits into one big pot that cannot be taken out by anyone even the faction leader, and make a few possible new Headquarters with a credit price tag that you could then use the Faction funds to purchase. These could be themed like the housing system is. This could possibly promote more faction meeting activity and strategies regarding wars and push for daily leaderboards.

3. Generally having more rewards for players in factions that achieve a daily victory that would be sent via mail or just added to their account at the end of each reset, these could be anything from credits, or gift boxes similar to how Christmas gifting works with the chance to get credits, or maybe some stylish weapons that come out of the winner's crate.

.Lord Ginger. -> RE: Alt Accounts and Dummying Abuse (7/31/2018 20:44:41)

Hey, after reading y'alls posts this is what I think would help:

High levels having quicker battles like in older days: promotes people to be the higher levels to get faster wins and therefore not use low level characters

Have a certain amount of time you can add/remove players: maybe like a day or something (full 24 hours) like that so that factions that do boost can't do it so often

Another thing that I think would really help though is an active playerbase with a lot of top level players so that we can form a community and people will want to have all their friends and main accounts in a faction.

Cataleptic -> RE: Alt Accounts and Dummying Abuse (7/31/2018 21:37:31)

Hello, everyone!

Before I begin, I'd like to say thank you to Vizrus for addressing this issue as it has also been addressed by the other players, but I think it'll take a little more precedence this time seeing as how the game is being updated again.

Now I do agree that there should be some faction lvl requirement of some sort to stop cheating and I'm glad to see what you've proposed to stop it. And I also agree that having two distinctly different leaderboards is a good idea to differentiate between legit players and alting ones.

This is my proposal for the solving this issue:
A faction made by levels 10-15: recruit players from levels 10-20
A faction made by levels 20-25: recruit players from levels 15-25
A faction made by levels 30-35: recruit players from levels 25-35
A faction made by levels 35+: recruit players from 30-40

I bet that you're thinking 'NOOOO! That's A BAD IDEA!! There aren't that many players I can recruit at a higher level!' am I right? Well, here's the gist, depending on how many wins/battles that the player has, you can recruit them based on that make it easier for yourself.

Examples: influences from 5,000-10,000 can join factions made by a level 10-15
Influence from 20,000-25,000 can join factions made by levels 20-25
Influence from 30,000-35,000 can join factions made by levels 30-35
Influence from 40,000-50,000 can join factions made by levels 35-40

So, you see, this can work in many ways, or even both ways, having needed1 or the other to participate in a faction.

Legendary factions: This is distinctive from normal factions, and legendary players are the only ones allowed to join these factions!

A faction made by ranks 10-25: recruit players from ranks 10-25
A faction made by ranks 25-30: recruit players from ranks 25-36
A faction made by ranks 36-45 recruit players from ranks 36-50
A faction made by rank 45+: they can recruit any ranking player.

Lastly, I would also like to see bombs cost more. It's unfair for a player that doesn't buy bombs, but play all day, to try and win the achievement, but not win it because someone easily took it from them buy purchasing bombs, without my real pvp effort, as shown by the person playing all day. I think increasing the cosy to 295 (just like class chages) would help this issue.

Greed Redemption -> RE: Alt Accounts and Dummying Abuse (7/31/2018 21:45:56)

Thank you for your comments guys,

That is true, if meta can go to high levels getting fast wins which in some cases currently is possible.
What I'd like to see is more faction hq things to as well.
I believe if we did legendary factions with the coming of legendary faction leaderboard, and maybe a forced switch over from faction to legendary to prevent alt clans oping faction lb.

I mean how I see it is there really shouldn't be two separate leader boards now that I think about it, because people would abuse faction lb then switch to legendary with many champs so in the end it would not work out unless if they changed to legendary their champs reset completely. (Existing factions champs would have their champs on the legendary one) Just new ones after update would work like that to be fair to the top factions out there.

Of course community is always important and we will do what it takes to help prevent or damage this alt/dummying situation.

Hello Cataleptic

Thank you for your comment,

So I see what you wrote and I like it however I see it working along with possibly a board as I believe Adoshia mentioned how you can search through active factions and mail the leaders with questions or even request to join, I'd love that to be implemented.

In my opinion currently 50 bombs can cost up to 9000 + Varium so I don't exactly believe we need an increase maybe a slight one such as 200 varium per bomb from 195. I think it is ok where it is for it cost about $50 for 10k Varium alone however I think they need to make it so the bomb drop rate has victory and loss chance of dropping. Victory should be 55% chance of regular bomb drop and superbomb be same or increase slightly this way it can help non var players get more influence. Loss rates would be different aswell losses would be much lower however like a 4% super bomb chance and a 23% regular bomb drop chance.

Back on topic
Alt accounts will most likely be stopped by just a faction level requirement such as 26-28 with the board and the Legendary Faction idea along with Legendary Leaderboard.
So I believe maybe instead of all those tiers we just start it from a level like 26-28. Legendary factions players would be 30+

With Leaderboards this means that when a regular faction like I said switches to legendary they would be noted that once this changes their faction champs will be reset and if any member does not meet level requirement then they have to be removed.

Best,
Vizrus
