It's not very usseful because people always have same defense and resistances since you can modify all your gear stats. It only helps when someone has a buff or shield which exceeds his base defense.

Do you know what could be better? After using the core, your weapon changes to the opposite damage. You have a blade E, you use phase shift, you strike with P damage and your primary turns into P. In this way it would be better, I mean, striking with P or E doesn't give any advantage. Using mass, berzeker or another skill with P or E really means an advantage.
In this way this core might be at least interesting and maybe usseful.

One thing I qm not sure is how long this change should last. I have 2 ideas:

-This change last 4 turns and after that you can't use phase shift.

-Its permanent till you use phase shift again.

Yeah I like your idea, and I like the second one better so your primary doesn’t get stuck, but keep it 40 energy cost per change.

Wouldn't that possibly give very favorable match ups for those strength/dex builds going up against classes like BM,TM, and TLM? Say a TM is getting pummeled by a strength cyber using a P weapon and TM decides to use defense matrix but then the cyber switches to an E weapon and since most builds have alike defenses, the TM still gets pummeled. Said TM would have to use technician or just admit that he wasted a turn defending.

Classes like merc and the hunters have defense skills that defend from both E and P attacks in one go but the other 3 classes do not. So this might be too powerful or it might not, these are just my thoughts but phase shift does need something to make it more viable.

Strength cyber with P weapon? No one in their right mind would do that, maybe start with the E one, malf, then switch but they’d be wasting one on static, but they wouldn’t start with a P sword, I sure as heck wouldn’t shield that, and if I did and they switched to E, great, as a tech TM (because that’s the only thing you’d go for now, besides maybe support), your resistance is way higher than your defense.

TM gets pummeled versus like anything, (unless maybe tech) and there’s no benefit for a str build to switch to an e primary against those so it’s a safe bet to say they’d stick with a P primary, even if they had malf its weak for strength.

Against Tlm if a BH does smoke and a TLM shields it and they go for an E primary that’s fine because they lost a turn of MOB doing that, and then their smoke is worthless, and so is a blood hawk.

Against a BM, well... BM needs help because it’s really bad right now, but it does have intimidate, but it needs a whole lot more than that to win a battle lol, because cannon mob and parasite can’t do it.


Would need at least a 1 turn cooldown, maybe 2

I personally have never used this weapon, but based on my observations, it could use a cooldown of 1.

I like the second idea proposed by racing.lo.mas in which if you use the core again, it becomes permanent.

For instance, you could be playing as a Strength Merc, and you have a physical primary, but your opponent has really high dexterity, you could use the core once then again, but the second time you use it, it becomes permanent, thus giving you a slight advantage in combat (with Merc switching to Energy), although your opponent may block.

That's my theory.
