Sledge Hammer -> Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 19:16:39)

Grafh told me that in order to save my tag in a different file with a different size, i should go to "Save for Web" well that worked for a little while but now it will no longer work for some reason. heres a screenshot of it gray and unusable. whats the deal?

crunchy chix -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 19:20:12)

Try save As .png or .gif
notice teh Period I don't Save web would work but uhh I'm a gimper so

chickenbakeok -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 19:54:33)

i dont use save for web, i just save as a .jpeg at highest quality and usually doesnt exceed the limit

Grafh -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 20:11:59)

CC - He is not saving it as a PNG because he is trying to lower the file size.

Save for Web is good for saving sigs in JPEG. It lowers the file size while keeping the quality.

So back to subject. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

skyboy59 -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 20:32:04)

try export to imageready then re-export back

could be the picture is in a different mode :/ not sure, but imageready converts for you instead of looking for right setting lol

Zero Hex -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 20:44:27)

Uh...maybe it's this. >_>

See the '01' with the little envelope looking thing next to it? If you could like...cancel that? Maybe then it'd work. xD

Grafh -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 20:49:35)

^^^

Thanks what I was thinking. I've seen that before when I hit the wrong thing once.

skyboy59 -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 21:01:57)

if all else fails :/ you could take a screenshot of it at 100% then make new window and crop it to size lol

that will save as web lol

i dont understand what your talking about

Wyrm -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:15:47)

Ok here's some thoughts:

First the little 1 and the X are just view extra's. If you want them gone go to view and then click off view extras. I don't think that is your problem however.

Here's what the problem looks like: notice that the normal Save is also greyed out. This tells mw that you saved it already prior to trying Save for web. I'd recomend making a tiny change then checking your save options again. Also do you have a ligitimate version of PS or are you using a bridge for macs¿ There are some bugs that I found on google That can cause your Save for web to not function when opening from the Start menu. Try closig your program and then hunting it down through the my computer or c:\ options adn starting it there.

This thread had some interesting theories

I'm gonna play around with it and see what I can find...

Sledge Hammer -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:21:19)

it does the same with a completely new one, i will create a simple one to show

heres a sample, notice the normal "save" is normal but the "save for web" isnt

Ninja Paladin -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:22:27)

Well, if you're trying to srink the filesize, .gif will generally make the filesize vastly smaller than if it were a .png. That's usually the filetype I use when making avvies and saving most of my pictures, and it works like a charm.

Sledge Hammer -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:24:57)

"save for web" is the only thing that can change it to gif or png, check ALL my file types by clicking here

Ninja Paladin -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:31:41)

Hmm . . . try copying the whole image, then pasting it into a new canvas, then save. That might solve your problem.

Sledge Hammer -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:37:34)

i dont even know what our talking about but it sounds to me that it wont work

im never gonna save for web again [sm=twill2a.gif]

Ninja Paladin -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:41:37)

You never know 'til you try. :D

1. Copy the image you're trying to save (Ctrl+A to select the image, then Ctrl+C).
2. Click "File," then "New."
3. Paste the copied image in the new canvas.
4. Attempt using "Save for Web," or see if .gif is an available filetype.

I'm not sure if it will work, but it's worth a shot. If all else fails, do as Grafh said and save as a .jpeg.

Sledge Hammer -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:50:19)

nope didnt work...and iv BEEN using JPEG. i once made an avvy (10K limit) that was 15 K, and that saved on the lowest quality and just 1 brush used (it turned out to be a blur) that was the simplist and i wanted to make something more complicated. i "Saved for web" and it lowered it to 8K with decent quality and it was pretty complicated

chickenbakeok -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:54:02)

file> save as.> .jpeg highest quality, that always works...

Ninja Paladin -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:54:51)

It could have to do with what version of Photoshop you're using, too. I use CS, which has the option to save as a .gif without using "Save for Web." Perhaps you should get it one way or another. If you want, I could resize the filesize for you. :D

Sledge Hammer -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:56:50)

u guys arent understanding me....i was able to do it before so it doesnt have to do with what type of photoshop i use. and the highest quality also hightens the file size which is what im trying to avoid

Ninja Paladin -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/17/2007 23:59:05)

Hmm . . . a strange situation indeed. Perhaps restarting Photoshop/your computer would help? Those are pretty much the only options I can see that are left. Sorry we couldn't help you out more.

Sledge Hammer -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/18/2007 0:00:24)

iv restarted photoshop severel times and always restart/shut down computer every night before i go to bed (family habit)

chickenbakeok -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/18/2007 0:00:55)

but even at highest the file size is significantly lower, why dont you try it out and check the file size

Ninja Paladin -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/18/2007 0:03:00)

Odd. Not many options left . . . do you still have the install.exe file? All i can see that's left would be to reinstall Photoshop altogether. That or you might have an odd virus of some sort. Other than that, I can't really help you any more than I have.

Restarting your computer right now wouldn't hurt, either. Something may have happened between your last restart and now.

Sledge Hammer -> RE: Photoshop problem (1/18/2007 0:05:09)

chickenbakeok: heres what i see...tell me what to do, i probably already know but i want u to tell me what YOU think...o and what happens if u change the thing on the bottom right

ninja paladin: i do daily disk cleaners, disk defragmenters, window washers and a number of virus things like avast...i also already un/reinstalled photoshop [:(]
