Energy Weapons Comparison

In this Comparison I added only certain Weapons. The Reason is, that I will update it with every new Weapon and therefore it would get too crowded. Also there´s a nice Comparison from Legasee. I don´t know if he has the time to update it, but at least it compares many Rares, which I have excluded. All the rare Collectors can take a look there, but I´m sure they know how their old rares compare to others. Also old Z Token Weapons are excluded. This Guide is limited to the 20 best!

Golden Plate: Salvation Bow > Megahurtz (70) > Mjollnir
Gatekeeper: Mjollnir > Salvation Bow > Megahurtz (70)
Drakel Disguise: Mjollnir > Megahurtz (70) > Fansarin´s Machete (88)
Undead Mutant: Spirit Katana > Power Katana > Mjollnir

Hybrids:

In multi hit Armors, the clear Winner is now Mjollnir .
Undead Mutant favours the highest damage Weapons, because you get no Stat Points.

Warriors:

The same as for Hybrids.

Mages:

In the Ubers, Fansarin is a good choice here. In other Armors the Salvation Bow is better, except with Undead Mutant, which favours the high damage Weapons. Mjollnir compares not too bad even for Mages! With Megahurtz we have the top choice for Mages now, if you want to spend Tokens!

Blues Oppinion:

Most important is to see, that this Comparisons are nice, but what do they really tell us? The Level assumption is 130 with full Stats, but there are not too many who really have this Level. For all the Others I want to say, that the best weapons in this Comparison might not be the best for your Level. For Example, Brilhado Blade is better than PK/SK untill around Level 104 in nearly all Armors except Undead Mutant.

With 200 DEX and the Bth from Uber Plates, the Bth of the Weapon and it´s Special is not too important, but if your DEX is significantly lower or/and the Defenses of the Monster is higher than 45 (which is adjusted here), you can get a completely different Ranking.
Sometimes, Specials are a good thing to have. There are Weapons which might not be on the Top of the list, but they have a ranged Special which can be very helpful.

So, this Comparison only shows you how the Weapons compare to each other with the assumed settings against a assumed Monster with 45 Blocking, 100% Resistance and 1500 starting HP.
Don´t get me wrong, it´s very usefull to know this, otherwise I wouldn´t have made this Comparison, but it also good to think about it.

Energy Claws: This Weapon looks not too good in this Comparison, but for Levels around 85, it´s not too bad, and the chance of Paralyze is something not to underestimate. As I said above, this Comparisons don´t tell the whole story!

Lightning Rod: This "Weapon" is not included in the Comparison, because it´s more a Spell than a Weapon, but it´s for sure worth to take a look at. First, if you have it equipped it gives +10% more Damage to Energy Spells and 5% to other Spells, and second it frees you a Spell Slot and third, it´s the only way for Adventurers to get Mega Shock. A must buy for all Mage and even Hybrid Builds in my oppinion, but it´s always good to have another Energy Weapon in Storage to be prepared.
If you want to know the damage of the Spells, look at Izons Uber Spells, he compared all the LR Spells there!

Skyscorcher: This rare Weapons compare still really good to all the others. While the ranged Version has become Competition from Brilhado Blade, the Magic version is still on top in many Armors. If you are the proud Owner of this Weapons, I would keep them, especially when you are a Mage! For Warriors and Hybrids, SK at highest Level is better damagewise, but Skyscorcher is a Ranged Weapon and the Special is really good!

Custom Weapon: It does compare really good in Multi Hit Armors, but I think there are better Elements than Energy for this one.

Undead Axe: This Weapon looks good when it´s triggered. It triggers against: "undead", "zombie", "skull", "mumm", "ghoul", "vamp", or "ghost" in the name. Too bad that this is an Energy Weapon, so the trigger is not too useful.

Fansarin´s Machete: For all Mages out there who don´t have the Rare Skyscorcher and don´t want to spend Tokens for Megahutz, this is your Weapon. It has a nice ranged Special and is better than Exterminator. Hybrids go better with Brilhado Blade at this level.

Mjollnir: This new Epic Weapon is really Epic. But, the Special is level scaled , reaching it´s full Power from Level 120 on.
For all high level Players, get this one when it fits your Build. I would say you should be Minimum Level 100 for this one.

Tuning Blade: Maybe something for Rare Collectors, but for all others, there are much better weapons out there. Until Warriors and Hybrids can get Mjollnir, you better buy Brilhado Blade. The Trigger doesn´t add Damage, it just gives +8 BTH!

Spirit Katana vs. Mjollnir: SK seems to be better in some Armors, thats right. And thats just true for level 130. But not to forget, Mjollnirs BTH is much better, so, once the Monster defenses are higher than 45, Mjollnir will win. IMO, Mjollnir is the much better choice here and much more versatile against all Monsters you can face. Not to forget, UM is a nice Strategy, but will not work against every Monster, therefore it´s not good to rely on UM all the time.

Edge of Unity: This Weapon has a nice feature, similar to Razorscale. You can choose the Element. That´s it. All in all, another completely unneeded Energy one. You better buy another Weapon, Brilhado Blade is cheaper and better.

Candy Cane: It has nearly Brilhado Damage with a Ranged Special. I would even replace BB with it. For all of you that don´t have BB already, get it.

Neuro Shock Spines: This one compares not too good but has a nice Special Abilitie, that´s paralyzing. But the Special BTH is not too high, so once the Mob Defense goes up, this will be a CON for this one. I think there are better Melee ones than this. Of course it has a real good Strategical Advantage, so for now I would prefer it over BB.

Megahurtz: This is the top Energy Weapons for Mages now! If you want to spend Tokens on an Energy Weapon, then this is the one to buy for sure. Normally mages will use Lightning Rod, but as backup Weapon, this one is great!

Impeccable Blade: This new one looks interesting because of it´s high BTH. Also the price is really good for this Power Level. It´s a stepping stone to Mjollnir. For all Waariors/Hybrids out there: Get it when you are Level 94 and keep it until Mjollnir. It´s personal preference if you want to keep Brilhado until Mjollnir or change it with Impeccable at 94, but this Weapon looks awesome and the BTH is too good to skip it.

Notes:

I will add all new Energy Weapons to this Comparison, as long as they are Level 65 and above.
If you want me to add other Armors, I will do this, as long as it makes sense.
If you see any mistakes in this Comparison, please post them that I can correct it. Nobody is perfect.

Was wondering if you could include UndefeataBlade as well?

As a Guardian only and 'Quest' (a rather hard one at that) shop weapon, I hope we can see how bad (or good?) it fares along with the other more easily obtainable and/or lower level energy weapons.

Undefeatablade doesnt compare too good here, that´s why I didnt add it. There was the Rumour or announcement of the KoO to buff it months ago, but until now this has not happened. I wanted to wait until it may get buffed. It´s for sure not under the Top Weapons, and it´s still a Level 60 Weapon, and this Guide is for at least Level 65+. Therefore I will not add it to the Comparison.
Once it gets buffed, and I hope this will happen, I will add it!

Legasee has it in his Guide, so you can take a look there.

I just wanted to quickly back up Blues for a sec. Legasee has all the major rares in his excellent guide already.

In this post Kalanyr outlines his plans for the armour and weapon sweep. This was due to start in May, and we've already seen the uber changes. Personally, although I have enough gold & Ztokens for some new weapons, I'm holding off spending until the sweep is done.

Blues has kindly stated that he will add any new weapons as they come out, and he has usually been pretty speedy in the past.

My advice is this. If you have a top rated rare - keep it. Storage is cheap at 200 z's. If you have a medium top rare, keep it. If anything rates highly in a new item released, get it and keep it. It is more than likely any NEW weapon release will be as balanced as it's going to be.

If you're hoping your old super cool weapon will be made uber again and it was cheap, or only level 50-60 ish as a war rare, chances are, it's not going to be. Ditch and Switch my friend.

as i have been experementing with comparisons, in Aquadorian's spreadsheet (which i assume is what you're using since i'm getting the same values for the other weapons as you did) the Undefeatablade (magic) BEATS spirit katana in both the Nemesis and Reign but not in Shadow in mage build, even at level 130...and it's by a considerably large margin i may add.

Nm: 88.040 which actually ranks above the vale sword 80 putting it at 4th.
Reign: 100.184 putting it again at 4th.
Shadow: 75.720 considerably lower in the count but it still beats the Brilhado Blade 80.

Now in Warrior yes things get less rank producing with the melee version

Nm: 91.250 it still beats the bad axe 65.
Reign: 105.470 beats the energy claws 70.
Shadow: 80.450 beats the bad axe 65 and is very close to the energy claws 70

d'oh, the melee is ICE...my bad, but the undefeatablade for mages is still a very viable choice, not the best choice by a longshot but a contender.

Edit: whoops lollerskates forgot hybrid.

Nm: 88.040 beats vale sword and ultimate maelstaff.
Reign: 100.184 beats vale sword, salvation bow and ultimate maelstaff.
Shadow: 75.720 dead last.

essentially it's the same values, though they rank at a much lower tier in hybrid.

at least uber wise in the values i really don't see why not include the magic undefeatablade.

One reason is, as stated above, that this high level Comparisons are made for level 65+ and this is a Level 60 Weapon, so should be in the Mid-Level Guide. The only exception for me are the Token weapons, because their level requirement doesn´t match their damage, so they can be added to High Level Comparisons.

But you are right, why not add a low level weapon that´s really good? Let´s take a look at this Weapon. It´s Level 60, and for this level it´s really really good. But, the Quest. To be honest, if a level 60 can beat the Final Challenge, he deserves this one, but normally, the level to beat the Challenge is at Minimum around level 85. Minimum. And at this level, you have access to Exterminator and Vibraxe (86), so why should anyone buy a weapon, that is much worser than this two? That´s for Mages.

For Hybrids, it´s worser than bad Axe (65) when i take your numbers, so not worth to take a Look at.

But, as I stated in the other Post, it may get buffed, maybe we will also get a higher level version. Once this happens, I will add it of course.

And Legasee has it in his Guide, so you can always take a look there if you want to know how it compares. It´s just a bit more work to switch between the two Guides to check the Numbers.

So, let´s just wait until the Sweep is done. I think that nearly all Weapons will change and I have to completely redo this Guide, then we will see.

Ah, good explanation mein freund, now i get the exclusion.

Thing is, between Legasee's and Aqua's Spreadsheets the undefeatablade (and probably everything else) with the same conditions for both spreads produces wildly different results.

Personally i trust the values given to me by Aqua's spreadsheet.

For the Energy Claws, maybe you should add a hit for each paralyzation. So, if the equation before bth is (1353(normal damage)+371.25(special with paralyzation)+742.5(special with 2 damaging hits))/100(number of attacks), then for each paralyzation (9/100), add 16.5 damage(average damage), because what you're measuring is how much damage you can do before the monster kills you, measured in turns. So if you paralyze it one turn, that is one turn more you have to deal damage before the monster kills you.

(for the purposes of this argument, the damage range I am using is the stated damage range, not the range you get after factoring in strength and dexterity and all that)

First, Energy Claws has just a chance to paralyze, don´t forget this. And it´s just a strategical advantage, because it does not change Monster resistances like the Ice Katanas. But it´s a good idea, write a Guide about Energy Claws, chance of Paralyzation etc.

The mistake you made is, that you assume:

Thats not right. We compare the average damage per turn, nothing else.
Whether the Monster is paralyzed or not, this does not change the average damage of the Weapon!

How much damage you can do before a Monster kills you depends on your Build, Stats and the Monster you are facing. Guides for specific monsters belong and can be found in Battle Strategy.

Sorry, what I meant to say is that average DPT determines how many turns the monster can survive, and thus how much damage the monster can do to you. Therefore, if the monster is paralyzed, it will do less damage to you before the end of battle. You are right, that doesn't change the DPT, but still. You might want to make a note of that.

Also, what is a good damage calculator, and what armors do you think I should use in the guide in comparing Energy Claws to other weapons with more DPT?

Why is the damage for the melee hit of Drakel Disguise for mages on Spirit Katana stronger than the level 90 Skyscorcher. The attack doesn't convert. I have used it with my magic weapons and the attack still did magic so you should calculate it without a conversion.

When you say the first hit, do you mean the single-hit attack 1 doesn't convert to Melee (which I think is what Keno Chao is saying), or the first hit of the 2-hit Ranged attack 2 doesn't convert to Ranged (by "first hit" you might mean that)? Either way the 'pedia entry needs changing then I think and/or the armor description, which is

Edit: ok, thanks for the PM blues - apparently the weapon's description shouldn't say "Melee" for Attack 1. So I'll remove the spreadsheet's Melee conversion.

i'm upset that skyscorcher went rare. T_T ther'd better be a better one next year. exterminator's second in line? ...nah, i can see why lightning rod isn't there...hehe...like comparing FEA to drakkonan's vengance...
also, could you add fansarin's machete once it's got a pedia entry of some sort?
