1.0 - Introduction

Hello, my name is PaperClip OF DOOM.
This guide will include information about the doom weapons and they destiny weapons - the best darkness/light weapons in DragonFable, most of the time. What are they, why get them, where to get them, how to get them, how to upgrade them - it's all here.

Reminder: The Doom weapons are Darkness element, the Destiny weapons are Light element. I won't be mentioning that when I will be listing the stats because the elements always stay the same.

Note: You might notice that I use "most of the time" a lot. That is because from time to time, a new darkness/light weapon comes out that has better stats than the Doom weapons. The upside, is that the Doom and Destiny weapons will continue to upgrade forever, and will always get better damage and stats.

2.0 - The Doom Weapons - What?

The Doom weapons are weapons of great darkness and power (and also price). They are the best Darkness weapons and sometimes even the best weapons in general in DragonFable. There are 5 Doom weapons overall, 4 of which are obtainable to the players. The Necrotic Sword of Doom is only available to players who purchase the Doom Knight special deal. (For more information, check: 5.0 - Doom Knight Special Offer)

1. ShadowReaper of Doom - 36-68
2. SkullStaff of Doom - 36-68
3. Twin Blades of Doom - 36-68
4. Necrotic Sword of Doom - Damage scaled to level. *
5. Necrotic Blade of Doom - This weapon is wielded by (actually the weapon is wielding him) Sepulchure, the Doom Knight. You cannot get this weapon.

The Doom weapons also have a special attack, called "Doooooooom!". This is a status attack, and it makes your Doom weapon glow until the end of the battle. It has a chance of 5% to trigger when you attack. It is a Damage Over Time attack, means your enemy will get hit by it for several turns, 5 in this case. If the opponent has any weakness to Darkness, the damage will be 10.

The Destiny weapons also have a similar effect.

* - Note - For information about how to get it, see section 5.0 - Doom Knight Special Offer.

2.1 - The Doom Weapons - Why?

So now you are probably asking yourself, how expensive are these weapons, exactly?
The cost of purchasing a Doom weapon is 28,000 gold, a hefty sum indeed.
"What?! That is sooo much gold. I will never get that. It will take me years. Why should I waste my time and get those weapons?!"
First, calm down. You may think that is a lot of money, but it really isn't that much. 10,000 to 15,000 gold alone can be achieved by simply playing the game and reaching the level cap. Heck, as the level cap rises and you farm more to get to a higher level, you'll most likely farm more gold than you need!

There are many reasons to get them. One of the reasons is, like I keep mentioning, they are the best Darkness or even the best weapons overall in the game, most of the time. They will always stay in the game, will never go rare, continue getting upgraded and can also be purified to get the best light weapons. Such power comes with a great cost, literally. Its your choice to get them or not. It's just another fun challenge with a great prize at the end. Plus it will keep you busy if you don't have anything better to do, and will probably gain you some levels in the process.

2.2 - The Doom Weapons - How?

If you are reading this section, then you are ready to get your Doom weapon, and the heavy price tag does not scare you at all! Excellent!

Now, 28,000 is quite a lot of gold. You are probably asking yourself how are you going to get your hands on a pile like that.
Fear not, for there are people who checked this far and wide, and have found great quests for you to farm over and over and get lots and lots of gold.

I always suggest looking at pjc's Gold Farming guide if you don't like the methods I am about to present. Sometimes my methods might even be a bit unupdated, so I recommend the Farming guide even MORE.

Farming Gold - The Best Quests by pjc.

I am going to suggest four places which I consider the best to get the gold. If you disagree or don't like the quests, you are always welcome to look at the guide above.

UPDATE: Added Gorgok.
UPDATE: Fire Cave replaced with a better quest - Potion Mastery - suggested by doicare3. It's about time that I updated this gold farming mini-guide. Remember to use pjc's gold farming guide, which has much much more information. ;)

1) Bandit Camp/Bounty Hunting

Where: Surewood Forest
Recommended weapon(s): Your strongest weapon, the bandits in this quest don't have an elemental weakness.

This is a very common and simple quest. You go to Robina, ask her about Bounty Hunting, and click yes. Now, go right from Robina, then up, and enter the wooden 'fort'. This is the Bandit camp. You are supposed to see a sign on the first screen when entering. This is the bounty list.

Each time you finish the quest, there will be a randomly picked different boss. Each boss gives a different amount of gold, ranging from 50 to 600. (Reminder: The LUK stat does not affect you to get the boss that gives the most gold.)

Sometimes, junk items will drop. Those items have no purpose except selling them for lots of gold. They won't drop often, but when they do it will be a nice gold bonus, about 300-600 gold.

This quest is the most simple - the bandits are not scaled, so the higher your level gets, the easier it is to kill them and farm there. On to the second quest.

2) Crystal Clear Lake

Where: Amityvale
Recommended weapon(s): A good fire weapon and a good silver weapon.

Another quest which I consider to be good. The whole idea is to run through this quest, kill the boss, get a prize, and sell it.
Each weapon is worth about 200 gold, which allows a steady income of gold until you reach your goal.

Now, the reason why I consider this quest an ideal place for farming gold is the short time it takes to complete. You only have to fight 6 scaled monsters, which usually go down in 2-4 hits with a decent fire weapon. The boss, Lon, is also very easy if you have a silver weapon.

Here is the shortest way to reach the boss when farming for gold there:
1. First screen, kill the monster and move down.
2. Second screen, kill the monster and move down again.
3. 3rd screen, 3rd monster. Kill it and go right.
4. Two monsters here, and only one path to go. Kill both, and move down.
5. Final screen, the boss. Fight him, move left and claim your reward.

3) Potion Mastery

Where: Warlic's Zone, go right and talk to Nythera.
Recommended weapon(s): None.

This quest always drops a junk item, worth 300 gold or more. All you have to do is complete a memory game, where you have to click the potion ingredients in the correct order. It's really quite simple and can be done in a short time.

4) Gorgok (DA)

Where: Willowshire
Recommended weapon(s): Set your Dragon's element to either fire or energy. Having all of the DragonRider skills is recommended.

Gorgok returns, and brings with him a great farming spot for those who have a DA and an adult Dragon! All you have to do is defeat the little Dravirs at the start and then kill Gorgok himself.

My strategy is just using the Burn-Mega Burn combo, and then alot of Breath when you reach half mana or so. Use DragonScale here and there too, and try to stun. Easier but somewhat longer is to only use Breath, Scale, Roar, Heal and Mana. When you defeat Gorgok, you get 2000 XP and 400 gold. At the end of the quest, you get two items and only two, and both sell at good prices. (200 and 350) So, if you want a twice upgraded Doom weapon, you will have to run the quest (counting with getting the 200 gold item and selling it every time) 33,000:600= only 55 runs! It may get tedious after a few runs though, but if you farm it a couple of times a day you will get your Doom weapon. Also, the REALLY Special Dragon Chow drops here! So if you are lucky enough, you may get it while farming.

So, you can decide which quest suits you best and farm it over and over. You can get gold quite quickly these days, so just farm as much as you can if you want to get your Doom weapon as quickly as possible.

2.3 - The Doom Weapons - Where?

After you get your pile of gold at a total sum of 28,000 shiny gold coins, you can purchase one of the Doom weapons.
Just go two screens left from the Town of Falconreach, and you will see a cloaked figure. Talk to the Mysterious Stranger, the one who will unlock your path to great power... and darkness. The Doom weapons have no effect on your character yet, and you can even have both Doom and Destiny weapons at once, so fear not!

Select the option "*Gulp* Shop", buy the doom weapon that goes with your class and... congratulations! You have completed one of the greatest and longest quests in DragonFable, getting a Doom weapon! It doesn't stop here though - if you have a Dragon Amulet, you can continue with this "quest". ;)

3.0 - Upgrading Your Doom Weapon [DA]

If you have a Dragon Amulet, you are given an option to increase the mighty power of your Doom weapon.
  • Note: The Dark Doom weapons do not require Dragon Amulet by themselves, but in order to get them you need one.
So in essence, they are DA-only even though the game doesn't list them as such.

  • 3.1 - First Upgrade; Level 8 - The Crystal Clear Lake

The first upgrade for your Doom weapon. Requires 5000 gold and of course, your Doom weapon. After getting the initial 28,000 Gold this will not be hard at all, so just take another look at the Gold Farming guide and get to work.

To upgrade your Doom weapon, go to Amityvale and talk to the girl at the main screen called Thursday. Pick 'Quests' and then select 'Crystal Clear Lake' and start the quest. At the first screen, kill the monster and go down. Second screen, kill this monster and this time go right. You will encounter more monsters, just keep going right until eventually you go up, and into the house. Inside the house, you meet Chaney. For 5000 gold, you can buy the 'Research Materials' from him and combine them with your Doom weapon to make them even stronger.

Dark ShadowReaper of Doom - 38-70, Crit +2, STR +2
Dark SkullStaff of Doom - 38-70, Crit +2, INT +2
Dark Twin Blades of Doom - 38-70, Crit +1, DEX +2

3.2 - Second Upgrade; Level 8 - The Mysterious Stranger

In order to upgrade your Doom weapon once more, you need to complete the first upgrade (see above). To upgrade your Doom weapon a second time, you need to get five Unlucky Doom Essences, which drop from the following quests:

  • The Haunted Castle
  • AmityVillian

When you're done, bring the five Essences and your Doom weapon to the Mysterious Stranger, and select the option 'Upgrade Doom?'. After some talking, a merge shop will open. Merge the Essences with your Doom weapon to increase its power.

Unlucky ShadowReaper of Doom: 40-72, Bonus +1, Crit +3, LUK -3, STR +3
Unlucky SkullStaff of Doom: 40-72, Bonus +1, Crit +3, LUK -3, INT +3
Unlucky Twin Blades of Doom: 40-72, Bonus +1, Crit +3, LUK -3, DEX +3

Also, all of the Doom weapons get 'Unlucky' before their names (Unlucky ShadowReaper of Doom, etc) and you gain -3 to LUK. If this really bothers you, then don't upgrade. In my opinion, -3 LUK doesn't matter that much, especially when powerful weapons like these are on the topic.

    3.3 - Third Upgrade; Level 15 - Yulgar's Forge

We have been blessed.. or cursed... with a new upgrade to the Doom weapons on this day.
The new upgrade requires you to have a rank 15 in Blacksmithing in Yulgar's Forge, your Unlucky Doom weapon, and 8 Unlucky Doom Essences. Unlucky Doom Essences drop, as you know from the previous upgrade, in The Haunted Castle quest taken from Artix in Amityvale. This time, farm for eight of them, and bring them to Yulgar's Forge and choose the "Make Weapons" option. Go down a bit and you will find the Mighty Doom weapons. Merge all of the items, and this is what you get.

Mighty ShadowReaper of Doom: 42-74, Bonus +2, STR +4, LUK -5, Crit +3
Mighty SkullStaff of Doom: 42-74, Bonus +2, INT +4, LUK -5, Crit +3
Mighty Twin Blades of Doom: 42-74, Bonus +2, DEX +4, LUK -5, Crit +3

'Unlucky' is replaces with 'Mighty', which is for the best if you ask me. Surprisingly (or not so much), LUK takes a drop again, but it is insignificant with these damage and bonus additions.

    3.4 - Fourth Upgrade; Level 18 - Yulgar's Forge... Again

    The fourth upgrade. Yep.
You can find this upgrade in Yulgar's Forge again. This time, a Blacksmithing rank of 18 is required.
For this upgrade you need... yup, you guessed it, 5 Unlucky Doom Essences which you can get in the Haunted Castle. We really do know the tale by now, as the description suggests.

So, bring over your Mighty Doom weapon and the Essences, to create:

Dread ShadowReaper of Doom: 45-79, Bonus +3, STR +4, LUK -5, Crit +4
Dread SkullStaff of Doom: 45-79, Bonus +3, INT +4, LUK -5, Crit +4
Dread Twin Blades of Doom: 45-79, Bonus +3, DEX +4, LUK -5, Crit +4

A nice boost there of 3 base damage and 5 max damage. One more point for Bonus, STR/INT and Crit. LUK stays the same, thankfully. And of course, an awesome new name - Dread Doom weapons! Happiness all around.

    3.5 - Fifth Upgrade; Level 24 - Yulgar's Forge Yet Again

Well, there really isn't a better place to place those upgrades, so we're back to Yulgar's Forge again with the latest upgrade - the Heartless Doom weapons. As you can see, they got a redesign, and they look more evil than ever.

You still need a Blacksmithing rank of 18, like last time. The only difference is that this time the weapons require an unlucky amount of 13 Unlucky Doom Essences for the upgrade. This can take quite a while, considering the only place you can get them is the Haunted Castle. Try to take it slow if you don't have time or patience to grind for it all in one day.

Also, I want to note that the weapons were available from a shop called Heartless, which opened up after the Friday the 13th Invasion of March, 2009 was won. They required the same amount of UDE's in that shop too, so it doesn't matter where you upgraded your weapon.

Take a look at the new stats:

    Heartless ShadowReaper of Doom - 52-85, Bonus +3, STR +4, LUK -5, Crit +4
    Heartless SkullStaff of Doom - 52-85, Bonus +3, INT +4, LUK -5, Crit +4
Heartless Twin Blades of Doom - 52-85, Bonus +3, DEX +4, LUK -5, Crit +4

Best upgrade yet, as you can see. Even better than the last! Sure, the stats didn't change, but the damage went up by 7 min and 6 max damage.

3.6 - Sixth and Seventh Upgrades; Levels 27 and 31 - Back to the Ol' Forge

New upgrades at last. Though, if you are wondering why they are grouped together, I'll tell you why. These are the worst upgrades yet, as they increase maximum damage by one, and then minimum and maximum damage by one again. It's a shame too, because they have cool names - Obsidian and Forsaken.

They require the usual amount - 13 Unlucky Doom Essences for each.

I'll list the new stats anyway:

    Obsidian ShadowReaper of Doom - 52-86, Bonus +3, STR +4, LUK -5, Crit +4
    Obsidian SkullStaff of Doom - 52-86, Bonus +3, INT +4, LUK -5, Crit +4
Obsidian Twin Blades of Doom - 52-86, Bonus +3, DEX +4, LUK -5, Crit +4

    Forsaken ShadowReaper of Doom - 53-87, Bonus +3, STR +4, LUK -5, Crit +4
    Forsaken SkullStaff of Doom - 53-87, Bonus +3, INT +4, LUK -5, Crit +4
Forsaken Twin Blades of Doom - 53-87, Bonus +3, DEX +4, LUK -5, Crit +4

3.7 - Eight and Ninth Upgrades; Levels 35 and 40 - Same Old, Same Forge

Two additional upgrades for Friday the 13th, August 2010. These are slightly better than the previous ones, and there seems to be a bump in the level requirement. Nothing new here, though - just some bonus damage and a bit of stats for the usual amount of 13 Unlucky Doom Essences each, accessible from - you guessed it - the forge.

    Grim ShadowReaper of Doom - 55-89, Bonus +4, STR +6, LUK -6, Crit +4
    Grim SkullStaff of Doom - 55-89, Bonus +4, INT +6, LUK -5, Crit +4
Grim Twin Blades of Doom - 55-89, Bonus +4, DEX +6, LUK -6, Crit +4

    Dire ShadowReaper of Doom - 57-91, Bonus +4, STR +6, LUK -6, Crit +4
    Dire SkullStaff of Doom - 57-91, Bonus +4, INT +6, LUK -6, Crit +4
Dire Twin Blades of Doom - 57-91, Bonus +4, DEX +6, LUK -6, Crit +4

4.0 - The Weapons of Destiny - Purifying Your Doom Weapons

After a long wait, it's finally here - Doom weapon purification.

You can purify your Doom weapons to get these VERY shiny Destiny light weapons. They have the same DoT special as the Doom weapons (See section 2.0 - The Doom Weapons - What?) and also deal the same amount of damage, although their element is Light.

The Destiny weapons will get upgrades at the same time as the Doom weapons. Their levels are the same, and they are also ranked equally to the Doom weapons: Shining = Dark, Lucky = Unlucky, Mighty = Mighty, Guided = Dread, Brilliant = Heartless, Pristine = Obsidian.

  • Note: As of yet, there are no matching upgrades for the last Doom upgrade - Forsaken. Also, the Obsidian Doom weapon cannot be purified into the Pristine Destiny weapon - I believe that should be fixed soon.

You can find the Purification and Upgrade shops at Artix, who is standing outside of the Necropolis. You need to complete all of his quests in order to unlock the shops.

Once you do, there are two ways to get the weapons. One is to purify a Doom weapon and get the matching rank of a Destiny weapon. (for example, purify a Dread Doom weapon, get a Guided Destiny weapon), or merge Undead Slayer Badges with the previous rank of a Destiny weapon to get the better rank. (Mighty Destiny weapon + 5 Undead Slayer Badges = Guided Destiny weapon)

In one of the upgrades you will need Purification Research Materials, which are the equivalent of the regular Research Materials for Doom weapons. They can be bought at the same place, in Chaney's shop. (See section 3.1 - First Upgrade - The Crystal Clear Lake)

  • Shining/Lucky/Mighty/Guided/Brilliant/Pristine Destiny weapon - Purification - 1 Dark/Unlucky/Mighty/Dread/Heartless/Obsidian Doom weapon + 10 Undead Slayer Badges
  • Shining Destiny weapon - Upgrade - 1 Destiny weapon + Purification Research Materials
  • Lucky Destiny weapon - Upgrade - 1 Shining Destiny weapon + 5 Undead Slayer Badges
  • Mighty Destiny weapon - Upgrade - 1 Lucky Destiny weapon + 8 Undead Slayer Badges
  • Guided Destiny weapon - Upgrade - 1 Mighty Destiny weapon + 5 Undead Slayer Badges
  • Brilliant Destiny weapon - Upgrade - 1 Guided Destiny weapon + 10 Undead Slayer Badges
  • Pristine Destiny weapon - Upgrade - 1 Brilliant Destiny weapon + 10 Undead Slayer Badges

Now, I suggest buying a new, "clean" Doom weapon, purifying it, and going up the ranks with Undead Slayer Badges. Why? Because they are easier to get than Unlucky Doom Essences. BY FAR. But hey, it's your choice.

Tip: The easiest place to farm for the Undead Slayer Badges is the Save Moonridge! quest.

Here are the stats for the weapons:

Blinding Light of Destiny - 36-68
    DragonStaff of Destiny - 36-68, Crit +1
Twin Blades of Destiny - 36-68

Shining Blinding Light of Destiny - 38-70, Crit +2, STR +2
Shining DragonStaff of Destiny - 38-70, Crit +2, INT +2
Shining Twin Blades of Destiny - 38-70, Crit +2, DEX +2

Lucky Blinding Light of Destiny - 40-72, Bonus +1, Crit +3, LUK +3, STR +3
    Lucky DragonStaff of Destiny - 40-72, Bonus +1, Crit +3, LUK +3, INT +3
Lucky Twin Blades of Destiny - 40-72, Bonus +1, Crit +3, LUK +3, DEX +3

Mighty Blinding Light of Destiny - 42-74, Bonus +2, Crit +3, LUK +5, STR +4
    Mighty DragonStaff of Destiny - 42-74, Bonus +2, Crit +3, LUK +5, INT +4
Mighty Twin Blades of Destiny - 42-74, Bonus +2, Crit +3, LUK +5, DEX +4

Guided Blinding Light of Destiny - 45-79, Bonus +3, Crit +4, LUK +5, STR +4
    Guided DragonStaff of Destiny - 45-79, Bonus +3, Crit +4, LUK +5, INT +4
Guided Twin Blades of Destiny - 45-79, Bonus +3, Crit +4, LUK +5, DEX +4

Brilliant Blinding Light of Destiny - 52-85, Bonus +3, Crit +4, LUK +5, STR +4
    Brilliant DragonStaff of Destiny - 52-85, Bonus +3, Crit +4, LUK +5, INT +4
Brilliant Twin Blades of Destiny - 52-85, Bonus +3, Crit +4, LUK +5, DEX +4

    Pristine Blinding Light of Destiny - 55-85, Bonus +3, Crit +4, LUK +5, STR +5, END +2
    Pristine DragonStaff of Destiny - 55-85, Bonus +3, Crit +4, LUK +5, INT +5, END +2
    Pristine Twin Blades of Destiny - 55-85, Bonus +3, Crit +4, LUK +5, DEX +5, END +2

4.1 - The Weapons of Destiny - The Blade of Destiny

The Blade of Destiny - this new weapon was released on February 20th, 2010 as a reward for finishing the ArchKnight saga, available to DA holders and AQ Guardians only. Even though it is a blade, it's in-game weapon type is Scythe - allowing all classes to use it. There are two versions:

  • One for Ash, which scales with his level. Also, it is temporary.
The stats are: Scaled damage to Ash's level, and: Block +5, Dodge +5, Parry +5, Crit +15, STR +5, Bonus +5, Light +20, Darkness +20

  • And a second, for your character - level 50 and available from the Destiny Shop after finishing the saga and talking to Ash in Falconreach.
    The stats are: 62 - 82 damage, and: Crit +3, Magic Def +3, Melee Def +3, END +5, CHA +3, LUK +3, INT +4, DEX +4, STR +4, Darkness +8, Immobility +8, Fire -1

The level 50 version also has a special attack, Elemental Spirit. See the Encyclopedia entry for more info about it.

It is currently unknown if we can expect more upgrades to this weapon. We'll just have to wait and see.

The Doom Knight - as powerful as it is fearsome. The Necrotic Sword of Doom (4th Doom weapon), Doom Knight accessories, and finally the class armor are available now through a special deal for DragonLords. If you want to unlock the ultimate power of DOOM... be ready to shell out some cash. Doom isn't free, you know.

Here is what you need to know:

There are four stages for this deal, and they all depend on how many months you've been a DragonLord. Each upgrade costs 19.95$, and there are four overall, which means 80$. BUT WAIT! If you have been a DragonLord for more than 24 months already, you can purchase the whole deal for 65$! Now that's a deal. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! If you purchased the full-account DA upgrade, all four pieces of the Doom Knight equipment will go to each and every one of your characters! However, the 40,000 DCs will go only to the main character you're upgrading. Now that's quite a deal, eh?

Now, let's go over the upgrade stages:

First, if you have been playing for six months, you can purchase the first stage for 19.95$, which gives you the Necrotic Sword of Doom with an amazing special attack, as well as 10,000 DragonCoins, and finally a special Doom Knight title on your character page!
