Happy New Year!

Watch this thread for Gremlins news! It could be updated several times in one day, and could also sometimes go for a while without new news, but this is where you'll find the latest info on Gremlin-chasing, bug-squashing, and other important notes.

(December was a busy, busy month, and "This Just In" was less frequently updated than what you should see in 2008. Or is it 3008?)

Now, in our very latest pre-release news:

1) If you've been experiencing Hammerhead Super: The Disappearing Back Shoulder Weapon bug, it should now be fixed! As always,
please clear your cache and refresh your browser. You may also need to log out, close your browser, re-open your browser, and
log in again.

  • To clear your cache:
    Internet Explorer (IE): Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Click 'Delete Files' under Temporary Internet Files
    Firefox: Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Click 'Clear' under Cache

  • Refreshing your browser means use the "Refresh" (or "Reload") button on your browser, by the address bar. You can also
    press the F5 button on your keyboard to do the same thing (thanks, demolayclay82 for the reminder).


    2) It was reported that there was no difference between the Proton Sniper (purchased with credits) and the Super Proton Sniper
    (purchased with Nova Gems). Now, I don't know the details, but it has been fixed - the Nova Gem version is now slightly more
    powerful!

    Watch this post today for new information as it comes through the wires!

    Out with the old, in with the new!

    The old: You'll see that there are new threads for all types of reports. Even though the old ones have been locked to new postings, we're combing through them to see what bugs are still alive. So, if you've posted in a now-locked thread and haven't seen results, fear not! Chasing this stuff is an on-going process, and we're working on making it go more smoothly.

    The new: If you've posted before, you'll see that the new threads each have a new template for your convenience (and ours). Please use these templates when you make a Gremlins post! It will help us get things done more efficiently.

    Once again, thanks for all your help! We need a new shipment of Gremlin-cages for all the ones we catch because of you!

    WOO HOO! All in all, so far, this release has gone more smoothly than any before it!

    I have to go out of the house for a few hours, so just a quick note.

    There have been some loading issues all day, and the team is aware of them, but if you would please use the template giving your complete technical details, that would be helpful and much-appreciated. We'd all like everything to load smoothly as soon as possible.

    Please use the template provided when posting please please! Thanks, tytrevor, for using the template! Now, please, everyone else do the same!

    As always, thank you so much for reporting your gremlins/bugs!

    Ah, yesterday's news. It's in the stickies, but for the record, the team worked to fix the loading bug, and we believe it has been successfully fixed now!

    Reported & fixed:

  • One bug that was sent privately due to its exploitable nature (Two now) -fixed
  • The "Headless Mech" bug (war reward) -fixed
  • I killed the General and the Commander, but when i clicked on 'Salvage' it kept saying "You need to defeat a Boss Fight in order to open this shop." - fixed

  • ElectraPhantasm3 now using energy.
  • loading head item error for werewolf mech - fixed.
  • War meter overflow - fixed.

    Reminder: If someone has posted the bug already, and you have nothing new to add, DO NOT *repeat* DO NOT continue to add a page worth of posts that all say the same thing. We do not want to see and waste time deleting this stuff.

    That said, thanks as always for your reports. And please watch this space for progress reports. Updated 8Jan08

  • As some of you may have already noticed, the Gremlins team has expanded! We now have cdfbrown on board!
  • Today has mainly been devoted to pre-testing. We've been working to streamline our process, in hopes of caging the Gremlins better for everyone. That shipment of larger Gremlin cages has arrived, so we're a bit better equipped, and we'll be scouting far and wide for those yet-uncaptured beasties.

    Extensive pre-testing - released Hospital minigame!

    ... and so far, this has been the best release ever! I posted the new Hospital minigame thread 1/10/2008 15:58:18 ... it is standing at 0 posts as of this edit!

  • cdfbrown compiled the Typos report - Mae has sent it off - team is working on it!
  • Working on organizing/confirming/reporting, so watch for new info!
  • Added link to first post of "This Just In" for cache-clearing in Opera - will add to other stickies ASAP http://www.verio.com/support/documents/view_article.cfm?doc_id=3698

    New item! [It is a new feature, so can still buy and use the item even though it appears red.

    Hi Everyone!
    Just adding some updates about the Specific Hospital release:

    1. 2nd shop not opening at level 20 as indicated on the button.
    - this was a graphical issue - shop opens at level 30. Button fixed.

    2. "if you keep running the item your moving in the Alien against the wall you can keep going the game wont end till you reach the end then even if you have 0 exp, 0 gold, and you lost half a million times you still get the chance to level up your skill"
    - the continual "failure" no longer gives the roll opportunity.

    3. Doctor Hat not giving +5 bonus
    - fixed. Bonuses now as follows: scrubs +5, hat +5, doctor uniform +10.

    4. Still getting roll option at level 30.
    - level 30 is the maximum rank - roll option now removed.

    23 Jan Release:

    KNOWN: Werewolf mecha can have a problem on this quest - working on a fix already. Meanwhile, please either use a different mech or wait a little bit - and have fun!
    Uh-oh - report of Hammerhead getting stuck the way Werewolf was. If you can, try a different mech - sorry! I don't think we can get an insta-fix on this one.

  • It is currently possible to do the quests out of order. It is recommended that you do them in order, as you will not level properly otherwise. It is 'borked' but not utterly broken and apologies for any confusion it may cause.

    Error 530.70 has been reported and is being worked on. FIXED Thank you for your patience with this. <--(thanks for posting that cdfbrown)

    Working on getting these straightened out - think we've got it!

    530.07 should be fixed
    Healing should continue to progress when energy bar is full

    Hint: If you think you've rescued Starbuck and you're stuck & can't walk around - try something else. To be more clear, without spoiling it - there is another choice you can make/path you can take. I am not 100% sure whether getting stuck is a bug or an intentional clue that you've made a choice that leads you nowhere. You may have to refresh the browser to get un-stuck if you can't click on Options --> Hometown

    Try refreshing your browser ('refresh' or 'reload' button, or hit F5) and logging back in - possibly maybe the 'stuck' issue is fixed!

    6 Feb 08 release:

    Currently, if you go out of bounds you will get an "Invalid Input" #530.07" error if you choose to duel. Reporting this & will post as soon as it's fixed. Rolith has gotten it SQUASHED! *applauds*

    Will edit with a longer note too.

    Level 12 Mystraven opponents now drop 1250 credits, the same as level 12 Wolfblade and Runehawk.

    Exciting news! The code has now been worked out so that PVP enemies and Mech enemies now have cooldowns for their weapons! Huge round of applause for the team's success in getting this working! Please let us know if you run into any Gremlins, using the Battle Gremlins thread.

    (Also, some of you may have noticed I'm behind on reading PMs - will have time to catch those up & hoping not to get behind again! Sorry =Mae

    I got a message from Warlic:

    "Warlic: The following items were not doing their intended damage - MR Laser Crossbow, WB-shotgun, and WB machine gun.... They are now fixed to do the damage that they were supposed to do n the first place "

    Sorry about the inconvenience with this. And I don't have exact numbers at this time - apparently he was up in the wee hours fixing things (thanks, Warlic!) - I got the message when I woke up, and he's not on line at the moment for me to ask any questions.

    This is not a bug - currently Wolfblade is at 12% so they can see the End of Game fights.

    NOTE TO ALL OWNERS OF THE PHANTASM SCIMITAR!
    Do NOT use the Weapons rack. If you do, you will NOT be able to equip your phantasm scimitar. Any attempt to do so will crash your game if you have equipped from the weapons rack first.

    We are aware of your mecha using stealth cloaking devices upon battle entry, and are working hard to disable that!

    Yes, you can get the Triceratops Torso at the same time as the flame. Score!

    Co-op war at 100% - war boss issues have been fixed now.

    Bit of a mixup in the shop text - gold has NOT come to MQ - will say 'credits' again soonish!

    The latest update has given us a new view in the shops: You will now see the complete descriptions in the shops!

    Mecha upgrade: make sure that your House mecha is not equipped to your character.

    There have been a few reports of people entering the temples in the first two Museum quests before the mech battle has loaded outside and encountering problems.

    This happens because of the speed of you internet connection. The best thing to do is to wait for the battle to load before doing anything else. You should have no problem carrying on after that. People with faster internet connections shouldn't encounter this problem.

    If you are experiencing this issue where you seem 'stuck' and can't move, try changing the size of the game. I can't make myself get 'stuck' but someone reported that his problem was solved by reducing the size. So, if you're playing at 1024x768, try it at 800x600 to see whether that solves it (for example) until we can figure out the cause.

    We're working on some kind of format for a 'known bugs and workarounds' sticky.

    HUGE props to Reens for figuring out a problem with today's release, to Rolith for figuring out a fix, and to monkey009 for confirming the fix! Please see the first post in this thread for instructions on cache-clearing if you are still encountering a problem with getting the quest from Warlic.

    2) The Tyrano mechs cause walkaround glitch - confirmed in Nano quest - reported

    IMPORTANT!

    The new level cap is 20, and no, it is not a bug - your accumulated experience points DO NOT roll over.

    The "extra" experience you gained will NOT roll over. When a cap is raised, you will NOT shoot up several levels. This is intentional and is the same in all AE games.

    Please do not post this in Gremlins, including comments about whether it is 'fair.'

  • Updating stickies, doing lots of testing.
  • Still working on the 'known bugs/workarounds" list that will be a nice, useful reference to 'sticky' here.
