  1. How do I clear my cache?

    ORIGINAL: The One FAQ Topic

    • Internet Explorer (IE): Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Click 'Delete Files' under Temporary Internet Files
    • Internet Explorer 7: Tools -> Delete Browser History -> Temporary Internet Files -> Delete files
    • Firefox: Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Click 'Clear' under Cache
    • Firefox 2.0+: Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Settings -> Check the cache option, uncheck anything you want to keep, and hit OK -> Clear Now
    • Firefox 2.0+: Tools -> Clear Private Data -> Select what you want to clear -> OK
    • Opera: Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced -> History -> Empty now

In general, look under something that deals with options/preferences. For more browsers and detail, try Helpzard Pages or Java.com.

  2. I found a bug, where should I report it?
First of all if it's an abusable bug (see FAQ no. 3) then PM it to Maegwyn, Vivi, Ello, Plasma Charge, or Practel rather than posting it on the forums.

There is a thread for each type of bug you might come across in the game (Login/Character Creation Gremlins, Battle Gremlins, Typos, Shop Gremlins ect.) If your report doesn't seem to fit in any of the specific threads then post it in Miscellaneous Gremlins. There will usually be a dedicated thread for any prominent release that comes out. Remember, check the previous reports before you post; your bug may have already been reported.

Don't forget to use the template in the first post of the thread you're posting in as this will significantly improve the chances of diagnosing and fixing the problem.

    - This forum is NOT for help. It is only for reporting in-game bugs. Mistakes in Design Notes should be posted in the thread for that day's notes.
    - This is not the place to post payment problems! Please contact the Helpmech and do not post in Gremlins.

  3. What is an abusable bug?
An abusable or exploitable bug is any bug that could give people an unintended advantage in the game eg an enemy that rewards ten times the amount of Credits it's supposed to when you defeat it.

  4. I can't create a new thread in the Gremlins Forum. Why's that?
That's because you need to post your report in one of the existing threads (see FAQ no. 2).

  5. How do I get/post a screenshot?
Take a look at Niko's guide How do I take a screenshot? Post a picture? Make a sig with a link?, which explains the process in simple steps for users of Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems. If you use a different operating system then you'll need to consult the Help utilities for your particular OS. Remember to use link tags, not image tags, when posting a screenshot.

  6. How do I find out my Internet browser and version?
While in your browser go to the Help menu and choose the 'About' option (eg 'About Mozilla Firefox').

  7. How do I find my Flash version?
You can use this to find your Flash version: AdventureQuest Flash Version Check.

  8. My character page has disappeared! What do I do?
    Read this post: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/fb.asp?m=11645736.

  9. I lost my password for MechQuest or I think my account has been hacked! How do I recover my account?
Do not post for help on the forums. See this page from the MechQuest Help Pages: http://www.mechquest.com/help/mq-accounts-recover-acct.asp.

  10. How do I use the mecha upgrade system?
Do Not Try to Equip the Kit!
Simply walk into the Mecha Upgrade Merge Shop.
The existence of the kit in your inventory is all you need, along with your House mech.
Make sure you are NOT WEARING your House mech!
In the shop window, select the name of the mech you plan to merge.
NG mech requires NG kit (Nova Gems)
SC mech requires SC kit (credits)
If you have the correct components in your inventory, they will be highlighted in green in the shop window when you have clicked the name of your mech.
If you are missing a component, the color of that component will not be green.
    Click Merge!
    Everything should work fine!
Note: The Upgrade Kit will have a level requirement of 999 to equip it. This is not a bug and is intended to stop you attempting to equip the kit, as noted above.

  11. No one else is black screening, so why am I?
If multiple people are experiencing blackscreening, it is most likely an issue within the game which must be fixed by game staff.

If you keep getting a black screen and no one else seems to be having the same problem, first try clearing your cache.

It can sometimes be your individual internet connection - occasionally slower connections (dial-up) can cause black screens. Try running the game in the smallest resolution and on Low graphics, with no other browser windows or tabs open - also try closing other programs you may have running.

If the above steps do not solve the problem, it's possible that the MQ Flash Prefs file could be corrupt.

One player was experiencing unexplained blackscreening in every single war after defeating an enemy. This was the solution:
    quote:

    ORIGINAL: Lyris
Turns out the MQ FLash prefs file was corrupt, a file that you have to delete manually as opposed to clearing your cache.

Here's how we did it in case it comes up again.

Exit Mechquest and close your browser.
If you're running XP, first go to
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\
There should be a folder in here labeled in gibberish. Open that folder.
    Locate the mechquest.battleon.com folder.
Inside there should be a file called MQUserPref.sol Delete it.
Load up your browser again and log into MQ (this will recreate the file fresh)

If there's trouble finding the file, just run a search for "MQUserPref.sol" and again, once you find it, just delete it.

Huge thanks to Lyris for the solution!
