Just thought I should share the news, GIMP 2.6 was released recently and I thought a few of you might want to try it out. You can download it at http://www.gimp.org/

 I seriously posted this a minute after you lol

It's a must download. It's a lot faster (for me anyway), and it has a few new nifty features.

uhhh...is it possible to put the toolbox into the image window, as shown in the screenshot?

Saerokon AKA CO( Can I call you CO?):Anyways, I'm pretty sure what they did was just use the big square thing right next to the closing button and then htey opened the toolbar from there

Faster? I might actually update from my GIMP 2.2... it takes almost ten minutes to open...

Saerokeon: I was wondering the same thing, about the PS-esque viewing format... and checked the GIMP 2.6 Release Notes to find the answer. Under the heading "Minor Problems," located just above the screenshots, a little note says that the Utility function is only working in Linux at the moment.

GIMP is a shareware/freeware program, meaning you can download it for free (a full version, not a trial). It is an Image Manipulation program (that's the "IMP" in GIMP, the "G" stands for "GNU"), similar to Photoshop programs in its abilities and uses.

Many digital artists on these forums use The GIMP, including myself. I have never heard a complaint about viruses, so I assume it is quite safe.
