The Rules of Entertainment Forum

  • All Universal Forum Rules relating to posting behavior apply!
These should be the first thing you read when you join the forums. They apply everywhere. The more open atmosphere of OOC is not an excuse to ignore them.

  • Not everything goes
The Entertainment Forum is for discussion of certain topics only. A list of such topics can be found in the Brief Guide to the Entertainment Forum, found here: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=15522439 . This list is not complete, and is subject to change if it is deemed necessary

  • No flaming, or trolling
Contrary to what seems to be popular belief, flaming/trolling is NOT permitted here. We see plenty of comments made along the lines of "This is the OOC, it's the way things are here." That attitude is unacceptable. Flaming is not okay "because it's OOC," and it's not some "initiation ritual" that everybody has to go through.

  • No inappropriate content
The forums are PG and there are children participating with parental permission that are younger than that. Keep all posts and links clean.

  • No pointless topics (We may be OOC, but that doesn't mean random posts are acceptable)
You're welcome to post about Entertainment-related topics here... that's the point of OOC. However, topics should still make sense and be interesting. Spam topic such as "I like Naruto! Don't you?" isn't a productive use of this forum. Try to find something to discuss!

  • Discussion is a must
In order for a topic to stay a viable topic, discussion is a must. Threads that are nothing but post after post of lists, links, etc with no effort at all put into it to discuss what you are posting can cause a thread to be locked. Likewise, merely posting a link in response to someone's topic is not a discussion. Put effort into your posts. The OOC is a discussion forum, so make sure you are actually discussing the topic at hand.

  • No ranting
This board is not a bulletin or blog for your personal feelings on any given topic that may crop up; it's all well and good to share your opinions with people, but don't make threads and posts just to complain about something outright because you feel like it. This includes making threads with titles like "This really angers me!" or other such generic things, or going on about how you hate a certain public figure. This also applies to news about anything; if you can't simply state something happened and build up a discussion from there, don't post. Indignation breeds indignation, and the forums hardly need a topic filled with people talking about how they're going to kill/hurt *blank* public figure or company because of something they did. Even this in a joking manner will only be lightly tolerated, at best.

  • No Forum Games
Forum Games belong in the Unofficial Contests and Games subforum. Games include, but are not limited to, any "<Whatever> the Forum Member above me" or "<Whatever> your fellow Forum members" type threads.

  • No Advice threads
We are a game forum... not a technical support office. This is not a place to come and ask for technical support. The EF is not qualified to provide any technical assistance.

  • No mini-modding
We have Moderators and AKs for a reason. If you see an issue you think we have missed, please PM one of us and we will handle it. Responding to spam and flames as a mini-modder just makes it worse; alerting a moderator and not posting is the best way to deal with a problem. Not sure who to contact? Check the Staff list located here.

  • No duplicate topics
There is no need to have four threads discussing the same topic. When it comes time to make a second thread, do NOT make a new one until the old one is locked. If necessary, PM an active AK or Mod to have the thread taken care of.

  • Necrobumping
Please keep in mind that any topic that has gone more than 2 weeks without a post is considered dead. Do not resurrect the thread. More likely than not, people stopped posting in it for a reason. If you want to resurrect a topic that died, make a new thread for it. But, remember that remaking it is at the discretion of the Head Moderator or OOC Archknights.

  • Do not beg for game upgrades/offer upgraded accounts to others
Begging is rude and spammy, and inevitably results in flames. Begging others to trade accounts with you is not allowed. Offering upgraded accounts to others, while noble, generally also results in spam and flame. If you want to offer to buy someone an upgrade, do it privately. And begging isn't acceptable anywhere.

  • Mods and Archknights have the final say in all Rules-related matters
Acceptable behavior is not open to interpretation. If Forum Staff consider it spam, it's spam. Any thread that is considered to be in violation of any of these rules is subject to violation. Further, any thread, post or series of posts that are deemed unnecessary or inappropriate may be removed without notice.

  • No spam!
Stay on topic. Any posts made simply to spam will be deleted on sight. Same as the "pointless topics" rule mentioned above, really.

    Reality Bites =
    Great Storytelling

As in the main OOC, the Entertainment Forum has need of a list of things on probation and what is forbidden. This has come up in light of what we, as a staff, have seen in the posting tendencies of all of our members.

Please remember that Probation does not mean "not allowed". It means, this topic has caused trouble in the past. It will be watched much closer than other topics.

    Forbidden should be self-explanatory.

Please get to know this list.

  • Vs. threads - Because of the nature of the gaming community, it is only logical that such threads come up. Know that the almost volatile nature of some fans, these threads will be watched especially close. There will not be much in the way of tolerance for rule breaking in here. Examples: Warhammer vs Star Wars, Console comparison threads.

  • M rated game discussion - These games may be discussed, but there is to be no discussion of the game content that breaks rules. There also cannot be linking to videos that break our rules on the OOC or the AE Forums

    Ratings Guide
Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language. The definitions of each are:
Intense Violence - Graphic and realistic-looking depictions of physical conflict. May involve extreme and/or realistic blood, gore, weapons and depictions of human injury and death
Blood and Gore - Depictions of blood or the mutilation of body parts
Sexual Content - Non-explicit depictions of sexual behavior, possibly including partial nudity
Strong Language - Explicit and/or frequent use of profanity

.....If there is a warning on a trailer... know that the video most likely will be taken down.
  • Movies that are rated R.
They will be discussed, as many are good movies. But, as with the games that are rated M, the content that violates the Comprehensive Forum Rules and/or OOC rules will not be discussed.

  • NC17/AO movies/shows
Movies and shows rated NC-17 (No children under 17) or AO (Adult Only) may NOT be discussed in any form or fashion. This includes any form of TV show, movie, anime, etc. There is a no tolerance level for these forms of entertainment discussion.

  • You are responsible for your links
Do not link to anything that would not be considered appropriate on the forums. This includes the comments section of videos, blogs, news articles, etc. The following links can be used to hide YouTube comments.
