I wonder if this rescaling is really gonna help damage rates because if skills like Berserker are becoming like Deadly aim, wouldn't that still benefit Str Mercs, assuming that Berserker becomes like a Sword version of Deadly Aim, making it so they would still hit around the same high hits or if not much higher damage than they used to?

The rescaling of % damage increase skills imo is more of a buff than a nerf. Though some say its a nerf, it's also a buff. Let me give you an example:

My current damage for my staff is 13-16+32 energy damage which is literally 45-48 damage and I have a level 1 berserker(70% increased damage). Let's say my opponent has over 31-38+8 resistance. The RNG picks my damage as 47 while its picks 42 of the opponent's resistance First of all let's solve it like as if it were a math problem in TODAY's calculation. The calculation is simply:(before update happens)

47 - 42(0.70)+ the difference of your total strength damage against enemy's resistance = 8.5 damage

In simple definition, the way things are calculated today until the balance update arrives is your damage minus your opponent's resistance(or defense if your using a physical weapon) then multiplied by 0.70 after getting the difference of your total strength damage and your opponent's resistance, you deal 9 damage to that person since this game does not do any decimal damage but rather whole numbers.

As for the so called new balance update, the calculation will change. Let's take the same example from above:

New Calculation from Balance update:

32(0.70)+ 32 + amount of strength damage(let's say 15) - 42 = 27.4 damage

This is the new calculation since it says it's going to work like deadly aim. If you're confused whats up with the second 32 hanging around there lol, it is because the first 32 multipled with 0.70 is the amount of increased damage FROM my staff and you have to add it with the base staff's damage once again and the amount of str damage which from the example, is 15. Finally, after getting the total sum of all your damage, just subtract it with your opponent's resistance you deal 28 damage(since, once again, this game doesn't do any extra decimal damage)

The only reason why others call it a nerf is BECAUSE it will only deal less damage to ANY opponent who have small amounts of defense/resistance like ranging 1-15 defense resistance which isn't a big deal after all. Besides, people don't use berserk or any skill against low defense players.

My simple conclusion to this balance update is this:

It's a nerf when hitting people who have extremely low defense/resistance AND it's a HUGE buff when hitting people who are tankers especially the tanking mercenaries.

That's exactly what I thought.

I think I'm gonna switch to a Support Blood Mage now because I see that alot of doors have really opened up now to more builds once this update hits.

balance update apply the % only on the damage of weapon so if you have 32 weapon you give a damage so
32 + 30% ( like double strike is only an example) = 43-45 and so too berserk, massacre....

berserk is 76% on first level so:
+33 weapon +76% = about 58

massacre 86% on first level so:
+33 weapon +86% = about 61

i don't understand your calculation sorry

HeroQuest, you forgot to add your strength damage on each of your calculations.

Wait, if Berserker is changing to to deadly aim (sword version), wouldn't that it be 28% to weapon damage?

It says it will WORK like deadly aim, it didn't say its % of increase will change into deadly aim's current amount of increased damage. Otherwise, massacre and double strike will also turn into deadly aim with the same cost of mana which in turn, will make me mad because my berserk gets nerfed.

I dont think they will cost mana anymore, they will likely be passives.

Passive means it requires no work to do it. So what you are saying is by simply clicking strike, it automatically does berserker/massacre/double strike for free? lol

Noooo...I'm saying that it's gonna function like Deadly Aim, it wont be a attack skill anymore.....-_-

Just a weapon booster. That's what they meant by changing the way skills function.

Which also means calculations are gonna change.

Oh, I got confused at that part, thought you were being silly of % of increased damage being the same as deadly aim. And yes, calculations will greatly change if facing a person who has high defense/resistance and you have a skill that has a % of increased damage.

No, I meant its not gonna be an attack skill anymore but a passive that boosts weapon damage , that's what I meant about your calculations changing.lol

Yes, that is exactly my point. I have a feeling this update will be good for 2v2 for me but gonna be bad for 1v1.

Mmmm, perhaps, but on the 1v1 part, maybe for mercs, but they needed to brought a notch down. I think it will make 1v1 more even now.

@ King

The build I use is actualy just a Test build... Hence why I am Complained when the release got delayed over and over again.

I have a lvl 4 Super Charge that requires 41 Energy and a Max Reflex Boost that costs 21 energy, meaning 62 in total.
That is my Energy, I actualy don't have 64, I have 62 ^^

Ones the update comes and I see how strong/weak SC becomes, I might put some points in FM :P

@Frostlich
maybe the % factors in before defenses, meaning that if you have +30 primary with 10 base damage and you have lvl 1 zerk it would do 10 + (30 x 1.7) so 10 + 51 or 61 damage meaning that it will do 21 dmg against a 40 defense build

I think Mods or Devs should do a design note before/after the update and tell us What is changed? and How things will calculate now? because it seem everything is changing and i dont know what kind of a game i will see after the update :S , I really shouldnt be forced to read a 9 page thread to learn what will change in ED :S

@TurkishIncubus: If it's of any consolation, the EpicDuel Wiki exists just for that purpose: to compile and simplify all the recent updates for the convenience of well, everyone! (Including me, which is why I sneak a peek at their "New Releases" page every once in a while as well). And as most of you already know, any extended details that pertains to any present or incoming update could usually also be found in EpicDuel's DNs as well.

^Most of us are expecting a pretty awesome update, considering the delay.

Why are you building your expectations up ? if they have to delay another 2 weeks I fully understand.
id rather it was a great update and a month late than a step backwards but on time.
